Project Giant Robot Brought To Life By Miyamoto, Reggie, And Bill

We’ve had lots of amusing moments from Nintendo at E3 so here’s another one to add to the collection. This latest video by Nintendo shows Miyamoto, Reggie, and Bill Trinen, battling it out in a real life version of Mr Miyamoto’s new Wii U GamePad experience, Project Giant Robot. Enjoy.

Thanks, Giygas

  1. Seriously…this can’t be happening!!!! I’m all for (unsuccessfully) trying to make the Gamepad relevant, but this isn’t the way that it’s going to happen. The robot game looks very stiff and unresponsive personally. Just give us an F Zero game where we can (optionally) use the Gamepad instead. Miyamoto’s projects definitely look fun, but only for a short period of time. I hope that they aren’t fully retail priced

Maybe they are inspired by the Megazords of the Super Sentai/Power Rangers series. Besides, if you want those kind of robots, then go play Transformers, Gundam, or the Kamen Rider video games.

      1. Key to our destruction perhaps. Nintendo needs to get away from the gimmicks. Yes, the Gamepad is a gimmick, despite what the fans and the Super fans say. Anything that isn’t a hardcore controller or cool game is a gimmick and there’s never been a good gimmick. (I still can’t say that I like the Touchscreen)

Sorry but the Gamepad is staying. This isn’t Microsoft. And your opinion is just that: YOUR opinion. If you don’t like the Gamepad, use the Pro Controller or the Gamecube controller that will be coming soon for the games that will use it, and just don’t buy the the games that only use the Gamepad. Clearly these games aren’t for you then if you think the Gamepad is useless.

    1. Expect Shin’en’s Fast Racing Neo to turn into F-Zero, this way we could see F-Zero faster than wee think..

  2. Miyamoto are you serious! Like really.. You are so out of touch with the gamers of today. What do you think we are all 8 year olds or something. Make something worthy or just quit and retire you old goldfish. You make Nintendo fanboys look like casuals in denial. With these fake plastic everything is shiny but lazy HD bullshit. 2007 called and it wants it graphics back. Hang it up Miyamoto nobody thinks your cool and at this point they are pretty much mocking you. You like like you taste fishy..

    1. You can fuck right off. How date you insult the inspirational Miyamoto. He is probably the reason you play games.

      You urchin!!

      1. Soru but he is right…am a fan of Nintendo since 1985…am 37 years old…and miyamoto lost the touch…this look like a fisher price or a keep frog games…they are doing this when Sony is making games like uncharted …is a shame that he can’t think out of cartoon style only…who in the world will buy this or play this, Nintendo need fresh ideas before is tooooooo late.

Sorry if Miyamoto doesn’t make games that interest PEOPLE LIKE YOU. People like you are not the only kind of people. So he hasn’t lost the touch at all. And there is nothing wrong with cartoon style at all. If you think you’re too old for cartoons & cartoon style stuff, you still have a lot more growing up to do.

    2. Further proof that opinions are like assholes, everybodies got one. Unlike some of us though, you talk out of yours.

    3. You are aware that this is an experimental project, not a real game. This is just to test ideas for a full game that might use the gampad like this.

    4. Better call yourself “church of stupidity” because you just don’t get it, meaning he still working on it. If you would have watch at least the digital event, he clearly says “Project robots, project guardians, and working on star fox” idiot.

  3. this is stupid game. everything about is stupid, from the name. to how robot moves.. it was very big disappointment.

      1. it wont change lol. the only thing im hoping for is that it was more like a tech demo. otherwise they should have thrown these two already in nintendo land when it launched.

Not really. We’re a long way off from making robots that can do shit like the Transformers, which are alien life forms that came into existence as giant robots, & Gundams, which exist in a distant future where humanity has advanced to the point of space colonies that float out in space. These robots move a lot like the Megazords from Super Sentai/Power Rangers.

  4. I don’t know why, but this seems as if it would be more enjoyable if it were a Kinect game (Provided the Kinect could do such a thing).

A lot of people thought the same about Hyrule Warriors when it was first shown off. Now look at the game. Unless you think Hyrule Warriors still looks like shit. In which case, I’ve done what I can to help you. Good luck.

  5. Can all of y’all just stop arguing, just because you don’t like a game or someone’s opinion doesn’t mean y’all have to talk shit about the developers graphics, etc. I’m not a microsoft fanboy a sony fanboy or nintendo fanboy but I am a gamer and this Is why I think console wars are retarded, just enjoy gaming and that’s it.

  6. I think we need to try to understand the reasons behind why something seems so stupid instead of putting it down unnecessarily. We gain nothing doing that.

  7. As much as I hate to say it, none of Miyamoto’s new IP’s interested me. They all look like casual games that I’ll never care about. And if you really have to play this robot game standing up and using the Gamepad’s gyro sensor for movement, then it’s confirmed that I’ll hate it. I was hoping for another masterpiece like Pikmin. Oh well.

    1. These aren’t actual games (besides Star Fox), just concepts. They’re probably still in the very early development. He is just testing ideas that might be implemented in his final game.

  8. Sony = Shows off old franchises you’ve seen before and only a new game from a third party.

Microsoft = Shows off generic shooter after generic shooter with only indie games and a hand full of IPs that we’ve seen last year.

Nintendo = Shows off New games and some older ips. plus, the new Zelda U game, Two creative concepts and teased Star Fox for Wii U, also not forgetting TWO new IPs with a third one from Miyamoto on the way.

  9. About the robot movement.

He said the game was inspired by Sumo Wrestling.
It may look awkward for us that aren’t familiarized with it but it actually looks like Sumo wrestlers fighting.

    Quite funny.
