Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai has shown off Little Mac’s alternative costume for the upcoming brawler in today’s Miiverse screenshot. Hot on the heels of Link’s alternative costume shown last week, Punch-Out!!’s Little Mac sports a rather fetching pink sweatshirt and trousers with his green boxing gloves, as teased previously in animated form in his introductory video. It’s a cool look for a mighty player, as Sakurai emphasises in his post:
“The pink sweatshirt looks really cool on Little Mac, so you can use that outfit in this game… How can a pink sweatshirt look so cool?”
But that’s not all the brawler’s director had to say, he also hinted that there are many things that have yet to be revealed. Whether he’s teasing more alternative costumes, we’ll just have to wait and see. Let us know what you think of Little Mac’s pink outfit in the comment section below. Oh I love the alternate outfit for Link since his usual tunic design with the hood is always better than the outfits he started off wearing in Wind Waker & Skyward Sword. I just want Zelda to have the original Goddess Dress.

Now that you mention Wind Waker, I’d love for Ganondorf’s moveset to be a mix of his Wind Waker sword attacks & Ocarina of Time magic attacks.
If Ganondorf gets Demise as an alternate outfit, Ganondorf damn sure better have his own original moveset this time around. Otherwise, I’ll gladly take Ghirahim over Ganondorf if it meant no Falcon moveset clone, no offense to Capt Falcon.
But yeah. Demon King Demise Ganondorf, Goddess Zelda, & Fierce Deity Link would be a nice little trio to look forward to.

Although Ganondorf is Demise in a sense, Ganondorf is still his own persona with the essence of Demise…

Speaking of, I think the thing with Wario having two different outfits in Brawl was Sakurai testing the waters for alternate outfits.
I reckon characters will only have 2 different outfits each too though, like Wario, maybe people don’t like pink and will want a green sweatshirt… I reckon it’ll be too much effort to implement a whole bunch of alternates and their different colours… Still 2 per, maybe 3 is enough, is better than nothing :)

I love subtle stuff like this. I wonder if the romantic tension between Link & Zelda in Skyward Sword was Aonuma testing the waters for a romantic relationship between the two characters. If Hyrule Warriors makes Link & Zelda become close in the same manner as the game’s story progresses & it’s well received, I’m going to have a hard time not wondering if it will be a sign of things to come for Zelda U.

Little Mac has 4 already: regular outfit, title defense outfit (in the pic, although it’s just an intelligent pallete swap), the sweatshit one and arcade Mac (that TRONish alt).

I wouldn’t make that conclusion just yet. Wario was the only one that had alternative costumes in Brawl. I’m expecting at least 2 for character, even when Little Mac and Vilager seem to indicate that there will be more.
This does at least guarantee that certain characters will get more than just 2 or 3 alternate outfits, though.
Yeah, but we don’t even have a pattern to grab onto (not that it matters with Smash, but it’s better than nothing). Villager and Mac have both 4 alts, WFT has 2, Link has 2, Wario had 2 in Brawl… I think two alternative costumes are to be expected, but more? Let’s wait and see.

Original Varia Suit, Dark Suit, Light Suit, PED Suit, & Fusion Suit alternate costumes would be awesome. I can see myself using the Light & Fusion Suits often.

Ah okay. Seeing how Sakurai did Link’s outfit in the beginning of Skyward Sword, I can see Zero Suit Samus getting the color scheme of Samus’ first Fusion Suit. And I like the Other M ending Samus idea. Women always look better with their hair down.

lol I prefer a balance of bare skin & clothed skin for women. It’s much more attractive that way. I like for there to be something left to the imagination as opposed to nothing.

I mentioned the idea of Dr Mario being an alternate costume for Mario in another article. lol It would keep Dr Mario from taking up a spot for a playable character. And it would make Dr Mario less of a moveset clone.

We could say the same about Luigi IF he wasn’t his own character, unlike Dr Mario. Not to mention that Luigi’s Final Smash is different from Mario’s & I think I recall Luigi’s moveset getting some new moves that aren’t used by Mario himself in Brawl.
True. Dr. Mario was a good character, but very pointless. Maybe Sakurai could take Dr. Mario’s strengths in Melee and Mario’s together and create a good moveset! Kinda like what they did in Project M.

And replaced by the 7 Koopalings; smartest character roster decision Nintendo made for MK in years. I hated Jr. for so many reason including replacing the 7 Bowser children. Each and every one of them individually or as a whole, are too good to be replaced by a bratty Baby Bowser look alike with no sense of character. XP
I will admit Nintendo went overboard with the baby characters, though. I can understand Baby Mario & Baby Luigi since they’ve been featured in other games. Baby Peach & Baby Daisy, on the other hand were rather pointless.
They also stripped out Dry Bones, Dry Bones Bowser, Boo, and a bunch of other cool drivers…replacing them with a fuck-ton of babies. I respectfully, strong disagree with their shit-decision on changing the roster to adapt it to kids, and remove all the “scary” drivers from the Wii version. If I knew it was Mario Kart 7 HD, I probably wouldn’t have bought it.

I agree with you on that 100%, always hated him too for the same reasons, and love the Koopalings. And sorry fuck what Shigeru says, THEY are his real kids, you can’t just say they aren’t after like 10-15 years of them being considered his kids in the games and cartoons and add that little pipsqueak as a replacement.
Shadow as a costume for Sonic makes more sense than Shadow getting his own character slot as some people on Miiverse have been asking.
That’s what I think too. He would basically have the same skills, so simply providing a Shadow costume, with darker attacks and a difference voice (just as for WFT or Villagers) should make it in my opinion.
And it would keep the people that don’t want too many 3rd party characters taking up spots from complaining. Of course, I wouldn’t blame them, though. It’s way too soon to be adding more than two 3rd party characters from the same franchise.

Yea it was good ol’ JR lol. And I have no problem with Ridley being in the game. He definitely deserves a spot over 4th party. I don’t see why people make such a deal over his size. As long as they give him good moves and don’t just throw him in to throw him in, I don’t care if he’s downsized. I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of him but I wouldn’t say no to having him for people who are big fans. Maybe his final smash could be that he goes giant size so he would be normal ridley size. I do wish Wonder Red & Wonder Blue were in it on a side note, I know they are not even a year old franchise yet (as of actual game release date) so there are probably more classics deserving a spot before them, but any character from Wonderful 101 would be +100 points for the new smash. Assist Trophy was a good step in the right direction. That’s my one request but I won’t be mad or surprised if they aren’t in it.

Ugh! I wish Toon Link did have the damn Mirror Shield instead of the shield from his grandmother. It goes GREAT with the Master Sword. In fact, I always do the Earth Temple first just so I can have the Mirror Shield for Link throughout the rest of the game.

Ths is super awesome! I love having lots of altcostumes. And little Mac has a lot already. It opens up the doors for other characters to have a lot as well :) can’t wait. Plus Mac looks very cool in pink. I think that’s how I’m always gonna play as him.
Nice to see Nintendo/Sakurai is going all out on making this game as feature rich as possible. :3 The more costumes as alternates, the better.

They should add more of these to the wii u as exclusives because it would make sense for the wii u version to have some sort of cool features to stand out.
That’s a good idea. Both versions should get exclusive alternate outfits. If Sakurai goes with DLC later on after they’ve both released, he could have the DLC we buy contain exclusive stuff for Wii U & 3DS. It’d be a nice way to utilize the cross buy feature.

I hope so but I doubt there’s enough demand…it would be a great blast of nastalgia for fans of the cartoons and such and it wouldn’t be hard to do.
