RCMADIAX Announces Flappy Bird Spin-Off “Spikey Walls” For Wii U eShop

Blok Drop U developer RCMADIAX has announced its new Wii U eShop game after last night’s Twitter tease. The new project, named Spikey Walls, is a spin-off from the hit mobile app Flappy Bird – which saw insane success on smart phones in a short space of time. According to the indie developer, Spikey Walls will use the GamePad’s buttons rather than the touch screen for a truly addictive experience, plus it features an adorable character with an extra grumpy face to spur you on to high-score victory.

RCMADIAX aims to release Spikey Walls in late September or October, a date pending in relation to Nintendo of America’s testing process, and will be available for $0.99 on the Wii U eShop. For more information, check out the press release below.

The new title is called SPIKEY WALLS, and many of you will recognize it as a popular spin-off of the famous “Flappy Bird” games that are dominating the mobile app stores these days. SPIKEY WALLS uses the state-of-the-art precision of the Wii U GamePad’s physical buttons versus the lag of a mobile devices touch screen. You will enjoy hours of fun trying to score the highest and brag on Miiverse when you’re finished each session. To make it easier to keep track of your highest attempt, RCMADIAX developed an in-house, state-of-the-art, “HIGHSCORE” tracker you can see right on the title screen. “WOW”!

    1. exactly what I was thinking…. really, crappy developer like this are only hurting the e-shop…which is a shame because there really is some amazing games on the e-shop.

  1. It’s not a spin-off. It’s another poor, disgusting, unoriginal clone. If I was Nintendo, I would 100% disallow this utter crap. How they can get away with it is completely beyond me. I am never, ever supporting the developer because of this.

    1. Seems like Nintendo’s quality control for many of their indie games lately has been a bit lack luster, some gems but some really crappy ones that make it through also. Maybe that or they are just trying to get any game they can on the Wii U.

Either way I completely agree, this should not even be released on consoles. Keep this garbage on phones where it belongs, which in all honesty it doesn’t belong there either.

I really don’t understand how people can get away with this myself, more so I don’t understand how these people can live with themselves making straight up copies of already crappy games, trying to pass it off as a spin-off.

      1. Not even joking, I could literally make this game in one day. Unless there’s a lot more depth to this game than any of us realize, I could start on it right now and have it done by tonight. I wonder how these guys get approved for the eshop. From my understanding you need to show some past projects before you get approved. That being said, I don’t really blame them. There’s a bunch of kids on the eshop and at the right price they’ll pick this up.

    2. A lot of games are rip-offs of other games, it’s been that way since the arcade era. There are a ton of games identical to Pacman that were released in arcades and on various home consoles shortly after it’s success. This is nothing new.

However, to call it a “spinoff” insinuates that it’s made by the same people as Flappy Bird. “Ripoff” is accurate but doesn’t sound good, so the best way for the gaming press to describe games like this is to say it’s “heavily inspired by (game name)”.

  2. I knew it would be some boring crap… Can never look foward to anything on the Wii U that isn’t from Nintendo. -_-

  3. HAHAHAHA, this is what they was teasing. I swear the Wii U eShop is turning into the Android/iOS game appstore.

  4. Nintendo do not turn your eShop into a shitty mobile app store. First we got “I have to run” or whatever the fuck that was called. Then “Block Drop U” and then “IQ Test” and now this.

  5. His wordings make it seem like he’s being incredibly sarcastic. And also “Nintendo of America’s rigorous testing process”?? Now that’s sarcastic, Nintendo’s testing process is anything BUT rigorous.

      1. Oh gosh no! I meant the dev’s words: “state-of-the-art” He’s giving too much credit to a Flappy Bird clone it almost sounds sarcastic to me. And don’t remove the rigorous testing process part! I now see your point.

  6. Uh… I hate Flappy Bird. Literally during school last year all my classmates were addicted to it. When they asked me why I did not play it, I told them I played real games like Nintendo’s games and stuff like that. Pretty much They all ganged up on me and that argument did not end well… Back on topic these Flappy Bird clones need to die…

    1. Oh wow. I can’t help but lmfao! Best comment I’ve seen from you & the best comment ever on this article’s comment section!

  7. *Sends in important news about where you can get the costume sets for hyrule warriors in the different stores*
    ………….doesn’t see post
Then sees yet another post on a indie game that no one will buy

      1. Awww thanks ……..wait there’s other ways to get news to you guys? Because yeah I seriously have a feeling Sickr doesn’t like me.

        1. I doubt that’s the case. :) Don’t take it personally, we just tend to get a lot of emails in tips, sometimes they get looked over by accident.

If you’ve seen a story in the mornings (usually Mon-Wed between 9am and 12pm), just post a comment detailing what the story is on my first article of the day and I’ll reply as soon as I can. Any other time, use the contact email, or if you think we’ve missed something just post about it and one of us will hopefully get to it. :)

  8. Fuck you Rcmadiax and your shitty cloned game too. Fuck you Nintendo for allowing this garbage on your console. Fuck it, Nintendo I’m breaking up with you, it’s over.

  9. I fucking hate you RCMADIAX Please go away with your app games. This shit is even worse than the shovelware that plagued the Wii!

  10. I won’t specifically single out Nintendo on this one but this indie craze needs some boundaries, it is great everyone is trying to be so supportive of independent developers but games like this are just crossing that boundary line.

I am all for stupid fun in games but literally some of these games today are truly just stupid, not even fun. Reminds me of when Microsoft was showing off LocoCycle, you really question what the hell these people are thinking allowing game like this to be made.

  11. xD I laughed as soon as I saw this as a title for one of my many My Nintendo News emails. First The Letter & now this. Well least The Letter is getting updates to at least give you more to explore as the game seems more like the type you should take your time with & just wander around instead of rushing to beat the game’s ending.
