Here’s Some Hands-On Gameplay Of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D For New Nintendo 3DS

Want to see some hands-on footage of the New Nintendo 3DS version of Xenoblade Chronicles? Well you’re in luck, as the team over at GameXplain have managed to spend some quality time with the game. Remember that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is only for the New Nintendo 3DS, which means those with the standard Nintendo 3DS are outta luck unless they decide to upgrade. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is due for release worldwide this April.

Thanks, N Dub Nation.

      1. Everyone was complaining when they announced the regular version of the new 3DS, saying how they shouldn’t of even bothered and just made the XL. Now everyone in North America is mad cause they’re not bringing the regular version of the new 3DS over here.

          1. Lots of people. I remember reading that comment way too many times, also about how they should have discontinued the regular 3DS after the XL came out. I get it though, the faceplates are pretty cool.

            1. Personally I could care less about the face plates. Its good business for Nintendo, but just a bite to the wallet. I like the larger systems, but that’s just my view on it. I’ll definitely grab this game once I grab the new 3DS.

              1. COULDN’T*****. Seriously why do people keep on misusing the phrase? It’s not that hard to conjure up a simple sentence…

                1. Yea could doesn’t make any sense. The problem is that it’s become a common saying and people use it without actually thinking about what it is they are actually saying. I could care less has become the norm and using I couldn’t would sound weird to people.

                2. Seriously Anonymous? Your reply is golden bro. Completely useless. I write how ever the fokk I want to type. Get over yourself.

                3. If you’re being literal, the saying is “couldn’t.”

If you’re being sarcastic, the saying is “could.”

Somewhere along the evolution of the English language (particularly in the US), a mix of the two was born…

              2. I think it’s a bigger bite into the wallet when people are forced to buy an entirely new 3DS when Nintendo brings out a new colour or limited edition they would like to have, but didn’t have any chance to buy when they decided to get themselves a 3DS. It’s especially tough for early adopters, as there’s usually barely any colours/themed consoles to choose from when the system just releases.
The face plates are a really good alternative to personalize your 3DS and get different designs without having to fork out $200 when you want some change.
I’m honestly not a huge fan of the new 3DS, but the face plates are, in my opinion, quite a nice feature.

            2. But was the size of the original XL the main reason why people apparently said Nintendo shouldn’t have bothered w/ the regular 3DS or that it should be discontinued?

I used to see the XL, larger size & all, as a vast improvement. Now, I see the size as a hinderance but its other improvements more like what GBA SP & Micro did to the original GBA, & what DS Lite did for the original DS: the XL changed more than just the size, its differences made the regular model look like a prototype.

              +Better stylus placement.
              +Idividual Select, Home, Start buttons.
              +No 3D LED (distracting & wasting battery).
+The LEDs for power, ‘plugged-in’, & wireless are visible on 2 planes instead of 1.
+Headphone port moved (for better or worse).
+SD slot moved (for better or worse).
              +The XL’s housing was less-slick.

Yes, it also improved battery life, but I’m trying to point out that the New 3DS & New XL are similar in terms of their function, the only fundamental difference is size. Between the 2 standard models, however, size wasn’t the only change.

Larger screens might’ve been enticing or forgiven w/ the original XL, but now that the standard New 3DS is just as intuitively designed as New XL, it’s size (which is now bigger yet still portable) should’ve had a better chance in the NA market. Of course, to many (me included) the faceplates & colored buttons make it even better, but those are still only bonuses imo. The standard New 3DS finally fixes a whole bunch of design issues the original suffered, but the New XL only has the New upgrades since the standard XL already fixed many issues the standard 3DS had. Plus, the standard New is less expensive, which makes upgrading to what might only be 3DS.5 more appealing. So yeah, I’m really pissed NoA is w/ holding what I see as the better option. Really pisses me off they didn’t take into account ALL the reasons why the standard XL might’ve prevailed. Maybe they did, but the bigger size is just too superficial a reason.

        1. this is the common consumer dilema. they real issue is not whether the new 3ds is less impressive than the new 3ds xl. It is the fact that the option to choose has been taken away. for example say i go into a fast food restaurant and order a hamburger everytime. I am given the option to get fries with that but I never do. then the next day when I go in they inform me that fries are no longer available, though other places have them. even though I would still get the same thing. the menu is less appealing to me because I no longer have the option to choose. so I will then take my money to a business that offers me more choices, because its human nature to compare products prices and when our choices are limited the said items that we would have picked anyway are less appealing . sorry I’m not trying to be an ass I was just putting my two cents in because I am one of those people that would’ve liked the option to choose between the new 3ds and 3ds xl. even though given the choice I would take the xl.

  1. Why is this type of thing only ever done by people who seem to have no idea what they’re doing! Gamexplain have a few different guys, can’t the one who has played the game before maybe be the one to record footage?

    1. Confused as to why people think Xenoblade Chronicles 3D looks bad visually for what it is. 3DS games are at a 400×240 resolution and are blown up dramatically when viewed full screen in a Nintendo Direct. Of course it’s going to be pixelated compared to how it looks on a 5-inch 3DS screen or compared to the Wii original that was twice the resolution

      1. Even on the 3ds screen most games have pixel at ion anyway so just what we have seen to me doesn’t look as good as the Wii version but I am happy more people will get to play it and that it all that matters.

  2. It’s a sub HD screen. What do you expect? I’m just glad it well be in 3D and hand held. Hopefully it well have some new content that pairs it with the new hasn’t on Wii U

    1. I get that it would look worse than the Wii version, but I expected it to be more, polished, for lack of a better word.

      1. I wish they had the original game bundled with X upscaled in HD instead. My computer couldn’t handle it well but I had Chronicles playing through the Dolphin player and it looked GORGEOUS.

  3. I think it looks perfect on the little ds screen I’m just worried about any slowdown it might have and how the controls feel. I still not sold on the c stick but if I can play xenoblade on the go then an upgrade is a must

  4. Wait, they actually announced that they’d be releasing this worldwide? Don’t know when that happened, but that’s awesome!

      1. With after i meant like 6 months or more after the release of New 3ds version. This is a game i want to play on a big screen.

    1. Considering Xenoblade is the only exclusive for the new 3DS as of now and the following months (yes, there’s also Ace Combat, but I don’t think many people are interested in it, let alone aware of it), that would be a very silly thing to do, from a business perspective.
