Preorder Code Name STEAM At GameStop And Receive A Lovely Zelda Pin

majoras_mask_pin

You might want to think about pre-ordering Intelligent Systems Code Name STEAM at GameStop as the company is offering a nice pre-order bonus. If you purchase the game at the US retailer then you’re entitled to a free Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask pin. I’m not quite sure how that ties in with Code Name Steam, but it’s free, so you can’t really complain.

Thanks, Chris C

  1. We at Nintendo would like all of our fans to try our new IP. By bundling this delicate pin with Code Name Steam. We’ll get new fans to try and love this wonderful game. Code Name Steam will release alongside the New 3ds Xl this upcoming spring.

    1. I like this idea. I admit I heard the name but gave it no attention until I heard about the fire emblem amiibo suport. This just pushed me to preorder it instead of waiting until next blackfriday. Now if you could just offer a free captain falcon amiibo with splatoon I would preorder that. I know it wont happen but I can dream.

    1. I wouldn’t be surprised if these were supposed to be given to those who pre ordered zelda, but gamestop decided to not give them to people and just offer as a bonus if you bought a lesser title. it wouldn’t be the first time they did something like this. remember when they were supposed to give pokemon cards to people who purchased the new pokemon as a bonus. but instead they sold them!

  2. They want to try to get people to buy the game who would otherwise not buy it by adding in a Zelda preorder bonus. Smart move, but also kind of… dirty, if you ask me. I always wanted the game anyway, so I think I’ll preorder.

    1. I’d hardly call it “dirty.” Consider this: Codename STEAM got screwed at the announcement. Everyone was EXPECTING Majora’s Mask 3D and got STEAM instead. I love how STEAM looks, but I know a LOT of people basically doomed the game because it wasn’t MM3D. MM3D stole the life from this game before it was even announced. Now it gets to try to give that life back to it.
And looking at GameStop’s Best Sellers for the 3DS, it looks like it’s kinda working. STEAM is the third best selling 3DS Game right now (behind only MM3D and MH4U).

      1. No, it kind of is dirty, because Nintendo is trying to sell Code Name: STEAM with their other popular franchise. How would it look if they added Mario collectibles with every game they release to bribe people to buy games they otherwise would not be interested in.

It should be a Code Name: STEAM pin.

        1. They don’t care, they just want to sell copies. They would put a free hot turd with the game if it convinced people to pre-order.

  3. It looks nice. I’ll pass, since I’m already getting the MM3d LE Bundle, but if I weren’t, I’d probably cave and get this. I’m not getting my New 3DS until April, so I’m gonna wait on STEAM until I have it so I can play it in full XL, C-Stick, amiibo glory. Congratz and good luck to anyone who DOES go for this though!

  4. This is the kind of item that is perfect as a Club Nintendo reward – so naturally, Nintendo won’t offer it to us.

    1. Wouldn’t Gamestop know you got a preorder bonus and would ask for it back or would say no refunds on games with preorder bonuses or something?

      1. Nah I doubt it, it’s not like the preorder bonus shows up on your receipt, at least I don’t think it does. And even if it did the game still falls under the return policy. The item is a bonus, not part of the game, thus no need to return it. I doubt a GameStop employee would really think about it anyway.

    1. They aren’t making people do anything. -_-
The pin is a bonus item.
If you choose to preorder something you don’t want just for the pin I think that person should reevaluate priorities.
After all, STEAM looks like it’ll be a great game, pin or not, if the FE team is behind it, but personally I’m not getting the game until summer probably.

  5. An Associate at Game Stop told me yesterday that Nintendo is doing some sort of cross-promotion with the game and that has something to do with the Pin. Ill buy the damn game just to get that damn Pin!

  6. It’s simple: if you don’t want it, don’t but it. It’s Gamestop’s decision to bundle the badge with the game, not Nintendo’s.
The pin is the same one as in the MM3D EU Special edition. You guys in the U.S. are getting a skull kid statue that is much cooler.
Plus, if you were on the fence about the game then this bonus may sway you one way or the other. A bonus is what it is – free, gratis. No one is forcing your hand here.

  7. Dangit, I’ve looked at some game footage for S.T.E.A.M., but it looked strangely boring to me… Then again, I though the same thing about FE: Awakening until I played it…

  8. I love how people are like “whud tha hell is this shiet I’m not buing it over a free a item”. Then they question why Nintendo doesn’t make any new IP’s -.-

    1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

They are the same imbeciles that complains about anything and everything…

They do it because they have nothing else going on in their so called pathetic lives…

      Disgusting vermin…

  9. I don’t know. At first I wasn’t too crazy about this game but it’s getting so many great reviews that I kinda wanna give it a chance. I like shooters. I don’t like fire emblem but a lot of people do and I’m sure the creators are great. Plus I really want that pin. As I am a pin collector. So. Yeah I’ll preorder.

  10. I personally wish they would’ve done a steampunk themed N3DS XL with this game. Ah well, I got the Skull Kid Figure. I still plan to get STEAM, but not until after I have my N3DS in April. Not gonna buy it to shelve it for a month-and-a-half. Hopefully people will actually give this game a shot. It actually looks pretty good. I don’t get the hate for it (beyond the fact that we got this announced when everyone was expecting MM3D instead).

  12. Okay, so I really had NO interest in this game (I hate the name) but I really (and I mean, REALLY) wanted that pin, so I pre-ordered it specifically for the pin. While I was pre-ordering it at Gamestop, they had a promo video advertising the game and it actually looks cool so I’m excited about this new game. I literally, “can’t wait.”

    1. Yup. It’s what I always do if I want a pre-order bonus but don’t want a game. People need to stop whining about how they are getting “screwed” by “dirty tricks” and just use their brain and do some “dirty tricks” of their own.

  13. Ridley, the Angel of Death

There we go. Preorder sent. I was going to just buy this game at the store after it released but that Majora’s Mask pin. @.@

  14. This is an EXCELLENT deal in my mind and the minds of many other collectors I’m sure. First of all, Nintendo is not forcing their customers to buy anything. Collectors force themselves to buy things. That being said, I would not have been surprised to see these pins selling online for over $100 before this announcement was made. I would have been one of those unlucky collectors willing to pay a high price for a collector’s item meant for a country other than my own. This to me is a great deal; I’m paying only $40 for the pin, and getting a free game as a bonus. (This will also put more money in the hands of NINTENDO and less in the hands of those who pre-order Limited Edition collectibles only to resell and make a profit for themselves). Open your eyes people. Although this seems like a scummy way for Nintendo to make money, at least THEY ARE THE ONES MAKING IT, and not those losers on ebay who ruin collectibles for the collectors.
