Online gaming publication Kotaku have gotten rather frustrated with the New Nintendo 3DS. The reason being? You need a screwdriver to change memory cards in the New Nintendo 3DS. This is because the Micro SD Card slot is located under the hood meaning that you’ll need a screwdriver to access it. Don’t forget that if you do decide to change the memory card on the New Nintendo 3DS you’ll need to purchase a Micro SD Card. The current Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL take a standard SD Card.
Thanks, Shuhei Yoshida

Not a big deal really, you’ll need it once when you switch to your bigger SD card when you buy the thing then you will never need to unscrew it again.
Kotaku is “frustrated?!” Heh, probably never used a screwdriver before!
Kotaku..don’t even mention those idiots. They lost their credibility last year.
They had credibility?
Maybe not or ever. lol
well you have to have a screw driver to change the small new 3ds back plate
That’s if you don’t need to often use the SD Card. There’s people like me who often use it to add songs to the 3DS’ MP3 player and this pretty much fucks me over in every single way
Yes a bit late, I know, but I just bumped into this now
no prob with that, i use micro SD for my 2DS and it comes with an SD card adapter d(>.>
Only need to change cards once (if your smart). At least it can’t easily fall out.
Don’t remember it falling out even on the 3ds. At least it supports microsd now thank god
How would they fall out when the slot is covered from all sides as well as the card itself is locked when fully pushed in?
Did something nibbled on your brain today?
The sd card slot has opened on me a few times. It happens accidently, its not like I push the thing open on purpose.
Ever checked to see if it’s the slot that’s damaged and not your attention span of how the slot works?
Ever checked to see that you’re a prick?
We already knew this, the new 3ds already came out in other countries last year
Kotaku thinks america it’s the only country the World
it shows how good you are prepared for stuff if you don’t have some screw drivers in youre house
Even more stupid inconvenience for me to not buy this system.
whine whine whine lazy lazy lazy.
I have the screwdriver for it you idiot. Its the fact that now people have to buy Micro SDs for this one as well as having to do extra work to install something so simple and given the fact that Nintendo fucked the US market by giving us the XL without a charger for the same price and not the new, cheaper standard 3DS with face plates that they wanted the most just adds the inconvenience. Its not about being lazy fucktard.
It comes with 4 gig, buy a 32 gig one and you’ll never have to do it again. Unless you’re the kind of retard that buys digital only.
Hi hater
Hi lost cause.
You’re the lost cause, the console is still 50 bucks cheaper than the XL in Europe and the charger is half the price in the US as well. Spoiled bitch. :)
Lol fucking loser
Stop being fat and buy this system now…
That’s a direct order…
Belay that direct order because I’m mad at Nintendo right now.
You disgust me…
Because I’m not falling over a dick move Nintendo pulled for American New 3DS?
And yet no one in your misguided country complained when everyone else except NA had to buy it separately when the original 3DS was released…
What do you mean? 3DS’s launch was a flop splash in a hugh lake with its $250 overprice and its launch titles was worse than Wii U and GameCube’s combined.
And even worse that we have way more expensive products here than there…
All I want is options and Nintendo basically waved that option in our faces and threw it out of the window with glee. That’s why I’m pissed.
Stranga no one likes you.
Meh, hes growing on me. Hes still a retarded isheep, but shes an adorable one. One’s whose opinions have grown to make me laugh.
Lol
Although I think this is really taking a step back in design I don’t mind it. I have a 16gb micro so I will probly only ever deal with that annoyance once. I can understand how people might be frustrated tho of they ever want to remove their memory cards say to transfer pictures or anything
I take out my SD Card all the time to add music though. >.>
You are the only person ever I’ve seen that says they actually listen to music and use the music app on the 3DS.
That’s because no one really mentions it. I have music on mine too, but I don’t mention it.
I listen sometimes too when I’m in school…
And nobody cares, and if they were to told me something negative (not that anyone dares to) then it’s their pathetic problem…
*tell…
I also used to listen to music in the 3DS, but I hated because of the low volume.
Buy a R4 card if you want music. It’s more convenient.
if you dropped your new 3ds XL and the mini SD memory card popped out you probably would lose it so its good that you have to do it this way.
I have two sd cards that I currently use on my 3ds. One has MH3U, amoung other titles. The other card has Smash, Luigis Mansion, and Mariokart 7, amoung other titles. I actually trade these cards out regulary, so I could see the inconvience of having to do that on the new 3ds. However, if I put everything on a larger micro card, then I may not have to switch back and forth anymore…
Yes, just buy a bigger one. The 32 gig ones are like 15 bucks or less.
You have a point deep, I was planning of getting 16 GB micros but I think I should get a bigger memory gb cards like a 32.
Not a big deal. I find it odd that it’s #0, torxs is more suited for electronics- T8 would’ve been nice…
They are getting frustrated over a 1 time thing??? I dont think people will change their memory cards very frequently.
Say hello to the digital age were some people have gone full digital.
My only question before i actually get frustrated is, does this thing support anything bigger than 32GB? If it supports the 120GB micro SD card then ill be set.
It doesn’t. Capacity maxes out at 32 gigs
ok well then, this has just become a fucking inconvenience.
Is this really a news…. WTF.
Fine I will just say it that’s fucking dumb you should be able to just take the card out like any other ds or 3ds handheld now you need a screwdriver just to put a new memory card in the handheld were do people come up with these ideas makes no sense what year is this 1985
But you don’t need to take it out. You can transfer all your data to your PC over the internet.
How is it not a big deal would you rather just press down on the card for it to come out or fuck around with a screwdriver for 5 minutes just to change a memory card its dumb
Annoying as shit, i just hope it supports the 120GB micro SD card or at least the 64GB.
XC still not supported, acording to Nintendo.com; I guess it’ll be the same as before. Some people got it to work
This has been known since its release in Japan… why is this now getting attention. Also if you get frustrated at the fact you have to open something with a screwdriver… you have to be a 5 year old. Seriously, unless they are complaining about a one time open, then they are just lazy. I like this approach, I always open and close the SD card slot u b intentionally. XD
Unintentionally*
Wow, “complaining” that a feature in the past model is now less convenient for no logical reason is being lazy. Why don’t I go down the same line of reasoning and ask that you quit being lazy and go get your SD Card latch fixed? Is it still 2005 here in Nintendoworld if they want to implement such primitive technology?
I was just saying for me, as a consumer who owns 3 systems that support it, it doesn’t bother me, but bitching does nothing, but show your own anger at video game peripheral. It’s probably a last second decision to make a US OS on the European models.
Oops sorry, I forgot what article this was. Anyways, It really doesn’t change anything anyways. Just an inconvenience that doesn’t personally bother me. This collective bitching is getting old though.
Btw my latch isn’t broken, it’s just distracting.
Well, looks like I’m not buying this piece of shit then. I’ll stick with my original aqua blue 3DS, thank you very much.
Will they come with micro sd adapter?
It won’t
That package says #0, right; but nintendo online says #00
It seems like a minor inconvenience, but it really doesn’t matter.
Well, the only time I ever removed my SD card from my 3DS is when I wanted to save my Mii pictures onto my computer. I have a collection of face photos of every Mii I create. So for that reason it’s not a huge deal. But…….this is still a very stupid move by Nintendo.
Bunch a whiny little wankers
Damn, this is fucking old! Since the japanese release, people knew that they would need a screwdriver to open the rear cover and reach the memory card. Yeah, this is bullshit, but I’m complaining about how old is this news and sites yelling this as breaking news.
I was very pleased to discover this page. I want to to thank you for your time for this particularly fantastic read!!
I definitely really liked every part of it and i also
have you saved as a favorite to look at new information in your
