SEGA Has Begun Targeting YouTubers With Copyright Claims

It seems as though Sega is the latest company that has begun targeting YouTubers with a range of copyright claims for content and soundtracks using Content ID. Interestingly, Sega US says that they do not deal with Content ID on YouTube anymore, so this could be a move by Sega Japan. Who knows? Anyway, it’s happening and its causing a number of core Sega fans to become frustrated. Hopefully it gets resolved soon for all those affected by this

Thanks, Mick

    1. They’re thirsty for cash and after all these years of Sega keeping their gameplay videos quiet, now they decide to do this shit AFTER downsizing their failure of a gaming company to produce cellphone shit. lol

      1. Their IP, their publishing power. They authorized that POS to be made to ignore what makes Sonic game a SONIC game and released it way before its time that got so much hate out of it.

Oh that reminds me! Apparently Hollow bought Sonic Boom for his Wii U. He made a post on the community talking about how he was disappointed with it. lol

            I think you’re overestimating Nintendo’s importance in today’s times.

            1. As you underestimated them in every turn. How did PlayStation came to be? Who inspired Sega to compete in the market in the first place? And why did Microsoft decided to take away Rare from Nintendo’s hands which ultimately was Rare’s decision to stay or go?

The market would’ve been dead 35 years ago if it wasn’t for them and yes if they drop out, the market will implode on itself out of fear because Nintendo is the only sole gaming company left on earth with the most excellence in quality and ideas among gaming. It sure as hell isn’t the greedy EA or the lying backstabbers of Ubisoft either. Where else is Sony gonna copycat from if Nintendo is gone? Obviously not from Microsoft since they already did and almost cost them so much from PS3 days and definitely not Sega after reviewing their LONG history of epic failures. Tell me, without Nintendo, where the fuck are they gonna get ideas and inspiration from since Nintendo was the only company on the planet the other two have learned much from and tried to walk their path (mostly Sony)?

  1. You know what just hit me? Does sega still have the same devs working for them?

If yes: They’ve all lost their minds. The same company that gave us snowboarding down san fran has been driven to such madness that they believed sonic boom would be a big hit. I blame microsoft for making them rush 06.

If no: its same reason why banjo and kazooie nuts and bolts never stood a chance- everyONE that made them good left.

  2. Well that’s dumb. Nintendo I can understand, they make so much money. SEGA on the other hand could need the free promo.

    1. Nintendo is sensitive about copyright and has been for years which for a company, it’s understandable to a degree. But Sega, whom they never had a problem with this issue before, now decides to target and blame fans out of desperation and vengeance for their own self-disgrace.

  3. sega has gone to sewing their loyal fans in an attempt to collect money for all the severance packages they had to give their employees. :(

    1. Well, Sega is about to die. Let it happen. I just hope Nintendo could decide to acquire Sonic and continue his series but actually innovate his games with timely resources like they’ve should’ve been done years ago. Sega can slowly die off of their own case of AIDS while humming the Titanic theme with a 8-bit equalizer farting sounds out of its ass.

More like Nintendo can buy Sega along with all of it’s properties… which would include Atlus. Two birds with one stone, am I right?

      2. we all know which company is buying up companies and doing nothing with them right now and that company’s name is microsoft. I hope you are right and nintendo does acquire it though. it really would be perfect because nintendo likes to release sidescrolling budget games to fill out the gaming year, what better way to bring back the greatness of original sonic than with a nintendo made sonic sidescroller! I’ve always felt other than the sonic adventure series, that sonics best mainly as a sidescroller.

          1. Maybe we will get that Mario and Sonic platformer crossover that many people have been asking for since Sega went 3rd Party, if Nintendo buy Sega. Also, Nintendo could revive many of Sega’s forgotten IPs…AFTER reviving F-Zero of course…

        1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

You are forgetting one other company: EA. They’ve bought a number of small development companies in the past & only use like 3 of them, I believe.

  4. I find the state of Sega saddening. As a kid I loved Sega’s games. My favorites game on GBA (my first system) was the “Sega Smash Pack”. Those and Pokemon Leaf Green are what introduced me to gaming. Seeing one of the original game companies in such a state kinda breaks my heart. (Sorry for the cheesiness) http://segaretro.org/Sega_Smash_Pack

And people are giving Nintendo shit for doing this. Least Nintendo is doing it in what they think is best for their IPs. Sega is doing it purely for the money.

    1. Nintendo did this to protect their IPs and fairly share revenues with fans to avoid conflict (except for some whiny selfish twats who still want to lazily make money out of their games). Sega has purely gone dark and targeting their own fanbase for money. I would expect EA to do this but damn. Sega really deserves to die right now but I hope Nintendo can save Sonic and give him a new home and purpose with Ninty. Let Sega burn itself out.

    1. For a different reason. Why would they do it now? Plus, no has actually disputed it so they wouldn’t know if it’s a bug or not.

  6. This is why I’m glad that I no longer have a YouTube account (and never will again). I used to get SO sick of having to worry about copyright infringement in my videos. It caused my videos to have SO many limitations. I was STRESSED! When it comes to copyright infringement, I don’t think the rules should count with YouTube videos. Except maybe for the ones making money. The copyright infringement laws are SO f*****

  7. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

The Segans will drain the resources from the unfactuals and someday soon, our empire shall invade them once and for all for their insolence of making garbage games for our sacred machines…

  8. This sucks. I really hate it when companies do such actions. Being a former VGM uploader, things like that happen so much on YouTube. Had to delete all my videos as a result. Well, guess what, Sega? No copyright law in the universe is going to stop me!

    Get it?

  9. Alright! Sega has finally figured out a way to revive their company! This will take care of all the financial mess they are dealing with. Sega will rise again for sure now! They’re laying the Sonic BOOM down on everyone! Look out, the Blue Blur is making a comeback!

  11. Fuck it. Sega is dead before officially. In fact, there were dead years ago. Sega’s just a wandering zombie waiting to be put out of its hellish misery with a bullet in its head.
