Nintendo Says It’s Processing YouTube Creator’s Program Applications “As Quickly As Possible”

As you’d expect the world and his wife have signed up to the YouTube Creator’s Program which has been implemented by Nintendo. The Kyoto based company says that it’s processing applications as quickly as possible, so it asks those who’ve signed up to the program to be as patient as possible.

“Due to your enthusiasm for the program, we’re receiving a higher volume of applications to register channels and videos than expected. It is taking longer than we anticipated to confirm the applications. We appreciate your patience as we work through them as quickly as possible.”

    1. Oh fuck, if this creator’s program gets too popular other companies will start adopting it too D: EA Creator’s program Activision Creator’s Program… This will destroy the LP community!

      1. The thing is, they are targeting anything a bot can claim. It’s not just Let’s Plays, it’s reviews, news, previews, first looks, analysis…

        1. yeah, does’nt help that youtube is terrible at pickin what videos to take down, a good recent example is angry joe, he apparently had nothin but good to say about the console but his videos were taken down and he left a (admittedly overdramatic) video on it.

      2. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Actually, EA doesn’t need to implement one as they already have something like it set up on Youtube. Only difference is EA is actually paying these guys of their own money. All they have to do is give positive reviews of EA games. In other words, sell their souls to EA & say everything they make is awesome even if a certain game they review is complete shit.

        1. I’d love to see your proof of that, because no one would say that. If you are talking about embargos and sent review copies, Nintendo does that as well.

            1. Ok, I found it. Well, yes that is a bad business practice, but defending your favorite company because another company did something bad is a slippery slope. Nintendo did this, so Sony can do this, Sony did that , so Ubisoft can do that, Ubisoft did that, so Nintendo can do that, Nintendo did that so EA can do that, EA did that so Microsoft can do that…

              1. “Bad” is a matter of perspective.. obviously it’s not too bad to be immensely popular. It may be inconvenient for LPers but I don’t see this destroying the LP community anytime soon.

                1. Bad is a matter of perspective in everything, but if you are a company, you should be pro consumer and this is anti consumer. Just read the rules, goddamn you. It won’t destroy the community because most of them won’t even play Nintendo games anymore.

      3. Um how could the creators program destroy the LP community when it’s popular? It won’t damage the LP community if every company did that, since people would obviously still be making LPs, but their average quality may increase since competition will be higher due to lower ad revenue.

    1. They already had it running in Japan, its because the idea of getting some money appose to none is appeasing to some people

      1. the best thing they can do is just refuse to play nintendo content if this is what nintendo is gonna be enforcing, all they are doing is shooting themselves in the foot, alienating their fans and missing out on tons of free marketing.

    2. Well, I think people who sign up for it are pretty small youtubers who do support Nintendo in their every move. Nintendo is going to spend more money on paying people who look at those videos than they will get from those 20 view videos. Big Youtubers are where the money is at and Let’s Plays of small channels get next to no views at all. All of the bigger channels, as far as I’ve seen have been against this and said that they won’t support it.

This could also be a PR move to say “Hey, our anti consumer network is actually supported by people” because if they said “We aren’t getting as many applications as expected” That would mean that it failed and people who were against this would consider it a victory and just wait for Nintendo to shut it down.

    1. No, you create a video which Nintendo needs at least 3 business days before allowing you to actually post it.

  1. sherlockwillfightbilbo

This program is horrible when you read the actual details of it. I would encourage everyone to actually read its points. It’s terrible.

  2. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Incoming hate comments toward Nintendo from people that apparently don’t know how business works when using a business’s intellectual property for monetary reasons.

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

lol No. If you think a movie studio’s movie where the main character is eating at a McDonald’s doesn’t have to pay McDonald’s for using their fast food joint some of the money they make off said movie, then you are the only stupid one I see here because Nintendo is using the same principle. Don’t like it? Tough shit because that’s business.

        1. Actually it is either free or the product owner pays the studios for the product placement, this is really simple stuff people.

    1. In my books, good business is being CUSTOMER CENTRIC and not trying to be greedy and practically stealing money from free advertisement houses. Sir, please remove your fanboy goggles and actually think logically.

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Then I guess you should go cuss out Ubisoft, too, for what they did to Nintendo back in 2013 & 2014 as that was shittier than what Nintendo is doing now. And fanboy goggles? If you think just because I’m defending Nintendo on this one subject that I’m a fanboy, you clearly are an idiot just like f up there.

          1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Do people that can’t dispute something still use the “damage control” statement? Apparently since you used it.

    2. Let me rephrase that:
Incoming hate comments toward Nintendo from people that apparently don’t know how business works when using a business’s intellectual property for idiotic cash grabbing reasons and getting a bad rep

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

I totally forgot to foresee the hate comments toward me for defending Nintendo’s right. Anyway, if the same people want to defend Ubisoft for doing something perfectly legal like damaging the Wii U, we have every right to do the same for Nintendo when they do something perfectly legal like screwing over Youtubers that are angry they can no longer bank off of Nintendo’s IPs.

        1. Mmhmm, when Activision makes DLC Nintendo fanboys start saying “hurr durr there greedy as fuckkkk”. When Nintendo is that one company which tries to grab cash from YouTuber’s work fanboys start saying “its legal they can do it so therefore its fine”

        2. your not getting the point. some people want to play games as an actual job, to entertain people. they themselves enjoy it too. there not doing it just for the $$$, but because they NEED the $$$ if they want to continue on. its simple if nintendo continues like this youtberss just arent going to play nintendo games, and games like bayo 2 and smash will get less and less popular. how do you think minecraft got popular? imagine a comedian not getting money for hours of making people laugh. and you shoul nknow me, i support nintendo always and bash the haters. but this time, just no.

    3. The thing is that Nintendo doesn’t have to do it. Doesn’t. Ok, also, you should read how the entire program works to see how many bullshit there is with 3 day waiting rule, maybe they approve it, maybe they don’t and so on. Pretty much every anti consumer move by any company ever made is valid. They have the rights to do them. Does that make them ok?

      1. sherlockwillfightbilbo

Yeah that 3 day waiting rule is ridiculous. Not to mention you can only play certain NINTENDO games they approve. Not just any Nintendo game.

    4. I love nintendo and even I know this is a horrible idea, tell me, do you go and watch a lets play and then say OH well now I don’t need to play the game, lets plays and this sorta stuff can only be good news for the i.p owner, and even then, most people watch LP’s and the like for the the commentator not to watch footage of a game.

Most gaming company’s even the shitty ones whose games i would’nt wipe my ass with figured this out.

Nintendo’s marketing(minus e3 and the directs which have been phenominal) for the wii u have been terrible and they needed all the help they can get, these sorta videos could even help popularize or atleast somewhat help boost the popularity of games like bayonetta and 101 which nintendo have neglected to market themselves.
But no, rather then embrace this they’d rather alienate their fans, take down videos and look for new creative ways to shoot their public image in the foot.

It’s a massive shame, games wise I think nintendo is in better shape then ever, the wii u is by far my favorite nintendo console but they are ruining it with other aspects of the company.

      1. sherlockwillfightbilbo

The only time I think Let’s Plays are bad are for story games. I know people who just watched playthroughs of Final Fantasy and Xenoblade because they didn’t want to actually buy the games. But games like CoD, Smash, etc.? Watching gameplay just makes you want to get your hands on it.

        1. oh yeah story games defineitly that can happen sometimes but assuming the gameplay itself is good, you’d still be missing out on a chunk of the experience.

  3. Nintendo should really be anticipating their products will be a success they are always in traffic lately. It may not seem like a good deal at this time but it’s the right thing to do and maybe Nintendo would change the rules eventually

      1. I hate this you tubers and lets plays. They are killing my experience. I think Nintendo just want us to play there games not to watch them.
I think all company should do the same. they should be afraid with this you tubers and lets plays I have a ps4 but I don’t buy games in it anymore I just watch them in YouTube and I want to buy a xboxone in the future but not anymore I could just watch the games in YouTube.

  4. Really? I’m surprised so many actually agreed to the terms, I WAS going to do it with my Gaming channel, but I actually READ the terms of service agreement, and THERE IS SHADY BUSINESS IN IT. I saw a few things that made me go, REALLY? NINTENDO? I didn’t expect this from you. There is a bit in their allowing Nintendo to disclose YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH ANYONE THEY WANT. You people REALLY need to read what your agreeing to, especially if your stupid enough to do the “channel” option since that basically gives Nintendo control over that channel, you upload a game not on their list you fuck yourself over.

    1. “There is a bit in their allowing Nintendo to disclose YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH ANYONE THEY WANT.” Wow did’nt know that…they’re digging an EA sized hole for themselves here…

  5. To all the people commenting on this, how many of you does this affect? How is it affecting you? Are you a youtube content maker? Do you play Nintendo games on youtube? Please if you can answer this. If none of this affect you, then why are you complaining? I am not saying it is right or wrong but the endless whinning people do is annoying.

      1. It just drive me crazy with the complaining. People complain about the gaming industry more so than praising the industry.

    1. Nintendo cash grabbing = less Nintendo LP’s
= me not being able to watch other people reacting to some of my favorite games

    2. How does this affect us? So what you’re saying is we should ignore it when companys do bad buisness practices and ignore it simply because it does’nt affect us?(which is still untrue because alot of us like to watch youtube vids and we can also see how nintendo themselves are shooting themselves in the foot with this move).

regardless of if it affects us or not, it’s still a part of an industry that I care alot about, and youtubers and like are just getting bigger some of them make their living off commentating and reviewing, and nintendo are hurting that and giving some awfully made agreement when it’d help them so much more to just let people post their videos, make money of their hard work to commentate or review or whatever, and ninty may get some free marketing from that persons subscribers some of which(in a case like angry joe’s) consist of 1000s of people who watch his stuff and respect his opinion.

If nintendo is so sure that the games they are making are of good quality(which they defineitly are) then why should they be scared of people posting vids of them? Its a game you sorta have to PLAY it, all a youtube vid can do is give you an idea of the experience and get you interested, it’s like a shiton of trailers being produced that nintendo did’nt have to finance themselves.

      1. You are taking this too seriously. It is video games. Entertainment. I want you to create a video game and sell it and watch your creation being used in a way you didn’t consent. Instead of complaining about you tubers livelihood, talk to some developers about it. There is two sides to everything. If you only see one side how do you know you are championing the right side.

  6. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Only a complete primitive idiot would think that putting videos of an entire game gives them the right to earn money…

It’s the same as showing an entire movie…

LP videos that shows the entire should be punished…

Those who shows a stage or feature from a game should be allowed as they don’t spoil the entire game and everyone would get the idea of how a game is played…

Whoever doesn’t agree with the last comment does not deserve to have a brain and therefore is not allowed to reply to me nor will be getting any reply…

    1. That rule only applies to story based games. People wouldn’t have the EXPERIENCE of playing Super Mario Sunshine by watching people on YouTube. Why do you think putting movies on YouTube results in near instant removal by the company, but not from LP’s?

      1. yeah even then with story based games, you’re still missing out on the gameplay(Assuming said gameplay is good) I could’nt imagine just watching persona 4 despite it being a very story based game.

      2. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Experience or not, you know everything besides playing it yourself and since most western gamers thinks the story in games is the most important thing then so be it…
