Japan: Nintendo 3DS Sells 58K And Wii U Sells 7K

This week’s Japanese sales charts are now in and it’s no surprise to see The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask take the number one position in the software charts. There were a few other new releases this week including Samurai Warriors 4-II and Nanatsu no Taizai: The Seven Deadly Sins – Unjust Sin, amongst others. On the hardware side of things it was the Nintendo 3DS that once again proved the most popular format as it shifted 58K. The Wii U continues to struggle as it only managed to sell 7K. Here’s the best-selling software and hardware in Japan this week.

      1. Pretty much. They should have stuck to leaving the Japanese market, very much alone, because they were doomed from the start. The Xbox One is truly the Xbox Done, at least it Japan…

          1. Which is funny, because Japanese gamers don’t really care much for the Xbox brand, they are Nintendo and Sony all the way…

        1. Yep. a fixed VCR from 20 years ago, would most likely outlast a New Xbox One from Day 1, even though it could have broken within the last 20 years…

    1. I almost bought it, but then I realized what an impulse buy it was, plus I was bitching about nintendo late last night so I think this purchase would be counter productive! lol

  1. I find it funny how fanboys were laughing at Vita sales a few months back, but don’t say anything about it nowadays and proceeds to bash the Xbox One instead. Lol.

    1. Who was laughing at Vita sales a few months back. I would think that it would be obvious that it’s a handheld console, therefore it would do well in Japan…

  2. Sir Isaac Newton of Judah

[PSV] A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd: Library Party (Kaga Create, 02/12/15) – 8,950 (New)

Okay, I am confused, bemused and inthused to say just the minimal. We need it localized please.
    F=ma.

  3. Sir Isaac Newton of Judah

I see you holding on to that number 18 spot WiiU smash bros. Good going little power console, selling at a profit, as big brother 3DS mops the floor with the entire competition.

    F=ma.

  4. PS4 is continually embarrassing Wii U sales worldwide and in Japan too, can’t wait when it surpasses Wii U. Lifetime sales in Japan.

SONY released the most powerful console this gen and also the best selling, something Nintendo cannot do,they resorted to motion gimmicks last gen for the Wii to be successful, lol what a joke of a toy company.

    1. And Wii U is continuously embarrassing the PS4 AND Xbox One when it comes to non broken games released on it. Sonic Boom is the only game released on Wii U that is a broken mess…
      Go get a life kid…

      1. Wii U 2014 non-broken games:
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
        Bayonetta 2
        Mario Kart 8
        Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
        Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
        Hyrule Warriors

        PS4 2014 non-broken games:
        Diablo III
        Dragon Age: Inquisition
        Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
        Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-
        Far Cry 4
        inFamous: Second Son
        LittleBigPlanet 3
        Wolfenstein: The New Order
        Watch Dogs

        Wii U: 6 games
        PS4: 9 games

        1. You forgot those games:
          Wonderful 101
new super mario bros U/ new super luigi u
the legend of zelda: the wind waker
          Bayonetta 1
          Super Mario 3d world

          1. None of those came out in 2014, except for Bayonetta 1, a game included in Bayonetta 2, which was mentioned in the list. But if you really want to count it in, it’s still 7 vs 9, so, not much of a difference.

        2. Watch Dogs for Wii U is not a broken mess either so do me a favor and add that to the list. Wii Fit U is not a broken mess either so that’s Wii U: 8 games. Now make a list of broken Wii U games vs list of broken PS4 games. Wii U wins.

          1. I said I wasn’t counting trash games didn’t I? Even then, STILL PS4 wins. And it’s cute how you’re trying to twist things to Nintendo’s favor. Be more objective maybe?

          2. And my memory isn’t good, but I think Watch Dogs on Wii U was a broken mess. Wasn’t there a report on MNN on the glitches?

      2. And note that for Wii U, I listed every single retail game which was released. I wasn’t counting ports, remasters, remakes, sports games, yearly shooters, etc for PS4.
