Both The Regular New Nintendo 3DS And XL Were Submitted Again To The US FCC

The New Nintendo 3DS And The New Nintendo 3DS XL have been submitted to the FCC. This doesn’t mean that the regular New Nintendo 3DS is destined for North America anytime soon as some sites have reported. NeoGAF member UncleSporky has pointed out that Nintendo submitted both devices to the US FCC back in September. Here’s what he had to say about the matter.

All that’s happened here is the photos they submitted to the FCC have run out of their confidentiality period.  Both of them were submitted with some aspects of the submission being confidential until 3/23/15. I think this is standard practice, they took the maximum allowable length of time for the photos to become public.

Two devices were submitted to the FCC at the same time, with photos of the device being confidential until the same later date. One device has released and the other has not. You can draw your own conclusions from there.

Thanks, Nintendo Impact Gaming and Joey

  1. Nintendo Commander Mar-Vell

The Yoshi hard cover sold at Gamestop is a superior design to this face plate. And it’s removable, and fits the XL perfectly. I have it on my Yoshi 3DS XL. The standard face plates aren’t a great deal. Plus you get an extra small screen.

For example, the Yoshi face plate cuts Yoshi in half. You know how bad that will look in practice? Search for covers and find better designs. That’s the truth.

    1. I personally prefer the smaller console. I don’t have big hands so the big one feels awkward and clunky for me. I do love the face plates idea as well. I feel uncatered to due to these issues. I mean it’s great you have what you want, but I feel so sad…

      1. If your hands are too small for the 3ds xl, they are too small for a Ps4 controller, Xbox controller, hell just about every console controller ever created.

  2. Still a good sign the standard version could eventually be sold in NA (region).

NoA can’t deny the fact that lots of gamers including kids will be clamoring for the changeable covers and even see custom covers coming out.
