DreamRift Announces Monster Tale Ultimate For 3DS eShop

Florida-based developer DreamRift has revealed a remastered version of Monster Tale will arrive exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS eShop later this year. Originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2011, Monster Tale was received favourably among critics upon release and featured virtual pet elements, alongside metroidvania gameplay. The title – which followed a young girl named Ellie and her monster companion on various quests through Monster World – has had a complete overhaul by the studio and will showcase new areas and visuals, as well as restore balance and introduce backtracking to the gameplay, without making it necessarily easier.

Monster Tale Ultimate is currently a 3DS eShop exclusive only, though DreamRift says a retail version may be considered in the future. The studio’s creative director Peter Ong said the following below in support of the game. Monster Tale Ultimate will target a Spring 2015 release on the Nintendo handheld. You can view a trailer for the original DS game above.

“A lot of the rebalancing has nothing to do with difficulty. [It] is, instead, about making the various components of the game more balanced in a manner that makes the game more strategically interesting.”

  1. Oh my!! This is such a pleasant surprise, I loved this game when it came out and I sure as heck will buy this new version!
I hope the evolutions of Chomp are easier to level up.

      1. Enough said… And if you (totally awesome people!) dont see the relation between my Robin comments and what it has to do with Nintendo then grow some intellect and look more closely into my words.

The clergy is pleased with a “certain” up and coming contributor here. This one shall be hailed.

Comment edited. I may not be here often now but I still care about comments on these articles! Cheers – Colette (SSF)

        1. You know what, I hate to say it even though your “trolling (and failing miserably at it)” I see you already burning in hell for this comment. There is no “certain” up and coming contributor” there to help save your ass about it either.

          Just saying.

  2. HYPE!!!!!!!!!!11 YESSSSSSSSSS I LOVE MONSTER TALE ON THE DS!!!!!! OMG!!! BRO THIS CANT BE REAL!!! IT CANT BE!!! TO AWESOME TO BE REAL!!!! MONSTER TALE I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

  3. This was another character set i championed for Smash Bros. Shantae, Isaac and Henry Hatsworth would’ve rounded out the roster perfectly instead of the clones. Still….one can dream. Maybe NX Smash 5. I’m sure we’ll at least seen a Splatoon make that roster.
