It would seem as though the producer of Mario Kart has now been promoted by Nintendo to oversee the company’s mobile game development. The news was reported by Sankei, and while they don’t disclose a name, it would seem as though it is Hideki Konno who has helped produce the Mario Kart titles since the excellent Mario Kart DS. We probably won’t see the fruit of his labour for a while yet, but it is interesting news nonetheless.
Mario Kart Producer Is Now In Charge Of Nintendo’s Mobile Game Development

Mario Kart for my iPhone please!! Imagine the possibilities, it’s like using a Wii wheel, but steering your phone! And It will be easier for developers to add more items, by paying for more, of please for iPhone. Mario Kart: iPhone Edition.
Apple sucks, Android is much better.
But Apple is like Nintendo.
Android has pure specs, and customization options
iOS has a smoother user interface, arguably better image processing, and (VERY arguable) better build quality
Now can we not be ignorant fanboys?
Pure specs? The same shit I’ve seen in so many cloned smartphones years prior? lol Customizations? Like if it’s an essential to cellphone uses.
“Now can we not be ignorant fanboys?”

very subjective dude
Nintendo has already stated that console games will not be coming to phones.
Get used to it.
Yup, and that’s how it should be as the control schemes are totally different.
Hah, they will get 1000000 e-mail telling them to at least put Smash Bros on phones, they wont take it anyore!
The producer of Mario cart is in charge of Nintendo mobile game development crazy
That’s is pretty bad… right? He would work on Consoles games that actually sell instead.
Yeah consoles that sell don’t make games as good as Wii U
Calm your fanboyism kid, he’s saying its a shame the producer isn’t making Wii U games, not that he should make games for other consoles
I think he probably still works on Mario Kart, and does this.
Now he can work on making ios games sell, which is more financially lucrative for Nintendo.
Plus, these guys usually bounce around to a bunch of different projects. I’m sure he will work on other projects dealing with Nintendo’s consoles as well.
Hope that is what he wants to do, Konami lost a few people cause they were stuck on something they absolutely hated doing.
he hated deving Mario Kart? :O
No, I wasn’t saying he hated Mario Kart. As far as I know there isn’t allot of complaints about Nintendo’s work place, the biggest one is that the younger staff feels like isn’t room to move up cause the old guys are there (one the the guys who made a game on Vita confirmed the feeling), but that culture seems to be slowly changing and is not something Nintendo is along in having in the corporate industry.
Actually I am refering to Iga, the guy who created Castlevania Symphony of the Nights and the guy who use to work at Hudson soft who created Star Solider game. Both of which left Konami after either feeling like they were not a good fit or were extremely unhappy after being stuck on making Smartphone games.
oh… I see
Well, it said in the article that he was “promoted” which leads me to believe he is getting more money for his new position.
More money = happiness. I think he’ll be fine.
Actually it doesn’t, money is a tool, it can get you to happiness though if you use to get what you want.
But again, I just hope is going into a position that he is excited about or wants to do. It means better games.
And so began the dark ages of Nintendo console gaming.
Nintendo could function just as always without one of their employees. 3rd parties on the other hand
Yeah, an EXTREMELY important employee. You forgot to add that part
Every employee at Nintendo is important. It’s like removing one nuclear reactor rod from a power plant. The rest of the plant still runs fine and generates good energy without that one rod.
It’s when you start to take out multiple rods that the energy being produced starts to slow down.
And it’s why I’m backing away more so than ever.
I am guessing that we’ll see a Mario Kart-entry on smartphones eventually, but first Nintendo is probably gonna stick to some puzzle or touch-based games, like a new WarioWare or Panel De Pon, who knows. Maybe a freenium-based Animl Crossing?
so no more dlc wich I wasn’t expecting
No they specifically said that they were gonna keep making Mario kart DLC.
Hey could you imagine Hideo Kojima working for Nintendo?
Yes, I could. I could imagine most developers working for Nintendo. Nintendo is more diverse than people give them credit for.
Maybe now they can add classic battle mode to Mario Kart 8.
This may seem to be a good sign but again, FUCK MOBILE.

well that’s a promotion and I guess they put the best guy to be in charge of this part of the business. it just a shame nintendo put big franchise on mobile games…..
