Japan: Wii U Sells 21K, Nintendo 3DS Sells 18K

The charts from Japan are out thanks to Media Create, and the week shows the “Splatoon bump” is still in affect. While Splatoon’s numbers are down from last week’s debut, it tops the chart for the second week in a row, doubling The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s lifetime sales. More importantly, Wii U sales have seen a moderate increase while Nintendo 3DS has stayed relatively the same.

New Nintendo additions to the list include Stella Glow (at number 4) and New Atelier Rorona: Hajimari no Monogatari – The Alchemist of Arland (at number 8), In the top 20 games, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U hold a commanding 13 titles (10 and 3, respectively). 1. Nice to see that the Wii U is having some momentum again after the multiple game droughts for the system. I got Splatoon yesterday, and I’m loving the heck out of the multiplayer so far (and I’ve only played the first stage of the single player, and it was pretty great too).

  2. From 17K to 21K? So is Splatoon still not a system seller haters? Yeah I hope you guys are throwing up all of that crow you guys ate………LMFAO!!!!!! Congratulations Nintendo. Well deserved

    1. Actually it’s not. Is only 4k more from last week. I don’t know in what bubble you live in but a System seller sells Systems like Mario, Smash, Halo, CoD, GTA, Pokémon, those are system sellers.

And before you get your panties in a bunch and reply with an obsurdly ridiculous comment. Not being a system seller doesn’t equal a flop either. A game can sell a decent amount and still not be considered a system seller.

        1. It is and I hope it keeps rising, and Like I said in the past, I wish Ninty nothing but success with the game. That’s not the reason I replied to him though.

    1. Moderate in terms of general console sales, proportionally to Wii U sales it is significant. However, I think its crazy to just view Japan sales in a solo lens, separate from worldwide sales. I wouldn’t say Xbox One sales saw a significant drop even though they went down about 50% — significant is defined by context, and there are multiple contexts.

While it is great news, 4,000 units is a pittance in comparison to what other consoles are pushing.

      1. Well, it is just Japan we are talking, and it isn’t the 4K that is more, it more about the 6-7k that has been the weekly norm in Japan for most of the time, so to me it is a %300 jump, which is significant… If Devil’s Third came out more like June 28, or July that would help momentum… we’ll see what happens

Wow! This is like a bigger bump than the the other system sellers were. I don’t think Zelda: Wind Waker made this big of an impact in Japan. Hopefully the Wii U can keep up this momentum and then when E3 hits, it can keep riding on that momentum.

Wii U could be looking at a turn of events here!

  4. Still wont catch up to PS4 sales even if ps4 had to stop selling immediately lol, this is terrible sales for a console with over a million owners in japan

              1. I haven’t been here for as long as that, so I don’t remember that. Do you have any stories about what their arguements went like?

                1. Regular arguments, like the ones you see here now. Aeulos claiming the 3DS was a flop and how the Vita was going to destroy it in every way, and Jellybean defending it. Both calling themselves PC expert and then compiling list to “prove” that they knew what they were talking about. Wii U speculation and how it was weaker/stronger than 360. How one hated Halo and the other saying it reinvented gaming lol it was a blast at times. We had more trolls but those 2 always stand out, (and yes Jellybean would troll too.)

The longer I stay here the more things stay the same, we just get new faces (or names I guess.) Lol

    1. Wii U isn’t necessary ‘dead’. It’s just trying to sell as much as it possibly can at this point…

    1. It’s Wii U, Mr. L. However, it’s the second week the U is outselling the New 3DS (regular and XL) systems.

  5. It’s fun as hell. One hell of a shooter game one hell of a game indeed! As I play now I see why it doesn’t have voice chat. If you have a level 7 character having more points than a level 12 player, imagine what would be said vocally? Something negative perhaps?

  6. Wii U is a dying horse making its last few kicks lol so sad but true, the worst console in gaming history.

    1. Wii U outsold Vita within 2 years compare to Vita’s 3 years under 9 million which is a fucking joke and all that system got is the same shit PS3 had with better visuals, lesser price and doesn’t demand your $50 for a fucking 16GB Vita memory cards.

          1. I have a Wii U and i think it has the best controller in gameing ever….i just like to attack fanboys….but gameing did die in 1995, i just play the VC games mostly..

          2. Who was dumb enough to call the Vita the 3DS killer? That’s ridiculous. The difference between quality and sales between the 3DS and the Vita is between the Sky and the Ground…

              1. That’s it, you mentioned that dumbasses name and my day is instantly ruined. If he ACTUALLY said that, then he is both delusional and dumber then I actually thought he wa. And I actually thought he was boneheaded to begin with…

                1. He literally did when Vita was on its eve of release. Even said the same shit about PSP vs. DS and ended the same way: Both portable PS’s failed to beat Nintendo, only that the first came close.

                    1. Takerkaneanite619

Do you even know what a pedophile is? Seriously, if you’re trying to be the next Sasori, then stop, we don’t want this bullshit again…

                  1. Maybe him shower in his blessings on the Vita and PSP was a good thing for Nintendo. Let those handhelds have the bad luck rubbed from Patcher and let the DS & 3DS thrive without him.

                  2. The staragablig is a dumb ass berb child with stupid views on games and could very well be a Pedaphile.

        1. Who give a shit bout Wii u…PS3 games look better than Wii u games what the hell was the Pedaphile looking mario creator smokeing when the desgined a system with ladt gen specs and a non hd game pad and ancient Dl policy.

          1. You need to shut your damn mouth. I am getting real tired of your shit right about now. People on here have seen many trolls come and go and in the end, the trolls always lose an then somebody makes a parody account, pretending to be said troll.

              1. Because they always quit. They have enough of constantly being owned and that their pride home with them…
