One of the big titles coming to the Nintendo 3DS this year in Japan is Dragon Quest VIII. We are still eagerly awaiting to hear about a western release for the game, but Japanese magazine V-Jump has some footage that should keep you content until we hear something concrete from Square Enix. The actual Dragon Quest VIII gameplay appears at the thirteen minute mark, so you may want to start there.

You can play it on the ps2 or ps3. Even on the psvita.

The game was never ported to ps3 or vita
You ca download the ps2 version for these consoles too.
The new character doesnt add enough.
Also, those version don’t include the added characters and extended story line/ side stories, as well as the change to roaming encounters
I don’t have the luxury of going back to old, dead consoles, so if it doesn’t come to the PS4, Wii U, or 3DS, I’m not going to bother. And I’d say more but the 2nd anon pretty much covered other reasons why going to pick up the old versions is pointless.
What about a tablet?
I don’t do tablets. I prefer a video game console controller to play video games. Besides, I want to experience the added characters & story. I can’t even go back to the original Chrono Trigger because I love the added stuff that Chrono Trigger DS has.
Square Enix is too broke to localize non AAA games.

I saw one of their games at a game shop earlier and it was 50 dollars! I just can’t wait until DQ becomes more popular in western states because I am broke and want to cry.
