Modder Made Satoru Iwata Playable In Balloon Fight

While the late Nintendo CEO and President, Satoru Iwata, played a role in the development of numerous games, none were so characteristically his as much as Balloon Fight for Nintendo Entertainment System. Balloon Fight, first released in 1985 was one of the first widely recognized game programmed by Satoru Iwata when he was still a programmer (versus the corporate legend he stands as today). With this history in mind, modder John Riggs decided, in memorial of Iwata’s passing, make a modded version of Balloon Fight where you play as Satoru Iwata.

The modded game (which you can see in the above video) features an Iwata-lookalike sprite from Mother, as well as blue Kirby balloons. Additionally, a fan art label (below) has already been made to match the title. If you want to give this a spin, you can download the ROM patch here.

  1. I really feel Nintendo should release a sequel to Balloon Fight, simply called ‘Satoru Iwata’s Balloon Fight’. No great shakes, an eShop game, but one lovingly crafted and the ”official” memorial piece for Iwata. Moderately priced, will all profits going towards cancer research or likewise.

  2. Galactus The Planet Devourer

Not sure how I feel about this. I mean it’s cute and intentions are sweet but … Well. I guess it was all done out of love. So that’s a good thing.

      1. Day 2 of worshiping the idiotic lying thief as a god? And you need a full week?
God damn it… kids these days…
How can you identify yourself as human, when you are THIS dumb?
Even an animal has far superior intellect then this…
When one animal takes the food of another animal, it will either hide to not get hurt, or defend its food. There is NO animal on this planet, that has its food stolen, and then takes more food, and brings it to the thief, going like “Here, have this too, ur awesome! Can you show up at my home and steal stuff tomorrow again?”

  3. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

    >>>This is probably one of the best, if not the best contribution to his life, work and legacy combined>>>

    1. Anubis, Son of Osiris

I like the Nintendo World one the most. It’s pretty cool how the MyNintendoNews came together as a community.

    2. True, this perfectly resembles Iwatas life.
EVERYTHING he did was based on ONE good game he made.
Lazy asshole never did anything else in his life but lie and steal money.

“Here, have this awesome new game!”
“It’s the SAME boring shit again!”
“No, now it has Iwata’s face!”

Kids these days are more then just pathetic…
they are like… pathetic and proud of it…
      pathetic and… waning more patheticness…

  4. And here we go… here comes the pathetic asskissing of all the morons that think that lying scumbag Iwata was a god…
He got what he deserved for stealing so much money from people.
