Arcades must be doing reasonably well in Japan as first we get Pokken Tournament and now we have learned that Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is destined for arcades. Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games isn’t scheduled to hit consoles until next year, but SEGA is debuting the game first in Japanese arcades. The Olympic related title staring Sonic and Mario will have location tests which take place from July 17th to July 20th at Club SEGA Akihabara and SEGA World Kasai. Let’s hope the arcade machine also makes its debut in the west, as I’m sure many of you would enjoy testing it out.
Thanks, Akira01

Instead of making an arcade version of the 5th M&SatOG, how about making a REAL Mario and Sonic crossover? The first two were welcome- I still play the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics one on DS to this day- but come on, it’s time for something we’ve all really been waiting for.
NinteNDO was too stupid to think of a Mario/Sonic crossover when they around the time they thought about a second Olympics game for wii u and too stupid not to notice the 1st one flopped.
Obviously not coming to arcades. Arcades gaming is dead in the west.
Movie Theatres and Dave & Busters….
Is it just me or “Would these Mario vs Sonic Olympic games be better on cell phones?”
Here’s a better question. How do we rejuvenate Arcades in America? I really miss going to the Arcades.
The Wii U version actually seems like it has real sports game this time, Soccer, Rugby and a few others look like they could be good. Hopefully Sega doesn’t suck them up.
That’s stupid. Plan an arcade version of this game when it was in R&D but too stupid not to had make PokKEN Fighters a console version when it was being made in R&D.
It’ll come to Wii U eventually… Just be patient, yo.
I bet they are doing this just to make Sonic Boom more popular in Japan. Sticks is a part of the game’s roster after all.
Um, why? I really do not understand the appeal of a Olympic game set with Mario and Sonic. Just seems so, fake.
Hell how about Mario and Sonics Magical Carnival Crossover, complete with Bop the Toad, Chao balloon Pop, and the Magical Mushroom mine ride…
Google is going to steal my idea and make billions.
I’m still waiting for a true crossover. These games were interesting with the first two but now they are just annoying. This is Mario Party all over again for me. First two Mario Party games were awesome but everyone after was just boring.
