Mighty No.9 Is Officially Delayed Until Q1 2016

We heard from Game Informer and various retail outlets that Mighty No.9 was being delayed until 2016 and now the news has been officially confirmed by the developers themselves. The disappointing news was sent to backers of Mighty No.9 who feared that something was up with the title. Comcept say that they are now aiming for a Q1 2016 release date and blame the delay on bugs and issues pertaining to the online features. Here’s the statement sent out to backers.

We have an important announcement to share with our backers.

Although we understand that everyone was looking forward to playing Mighty No. 9 as soon as possible, a release delay is going to be announced for the game at Gamescom 2015, which is currently being held in Cologne, Germany.

This is a project that would not have existed without the support of our backers, so we at least wanted to deliver this news to our backers before it is officially announced. We are unable to confirm a final release date at this time, however we will be aiming for a release in Q1 2016. Once a solid release date is set, we will announce it immediately to our backers and fans.

Of course, it is important to explain why exactly the game is being delayed. As we have communicated in the updates to our backers, all of the core content for the game is developed and in a complete state. However, there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct affect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release.

Currently, comcept and their partners are working at full capacity to resolve these issues and fix any remaining bugs. In addition, we have received quite a few requests for additional information regarding the various platforms that are part of the platform survey we have sent out. We have also only managed to receive around half of the total responses needed for the survey.

Considering the fact that the game’s release has been delayed, we are planning to open another platform survey once a final release date has been settled upon.

We will continue to deliver the most up-to-date info to our backers and fans through our forum updates, so please keep an eye out!

We appreciate your support and patience regarding this matter, and look forward to delivering Mighty No. 9 to our backers and fans in the best state possible.

  1. This is the most unprofessional way to delay a game. Why do they cancel the game with 10 days to go? By now the game should be gold and ready to send to all distributions channel’s.
This is a well orchestrated plan by the studio.
Really disappointed. Will never support Kickstart project again

    1. Valid reason for the delay. If the game came out on time with the bugs and issues for online, it would have hurt some sells for the game. I will say companies need to careful with making release dates public. They should give a tentative release date and change that if needed but make it known that the release date could change.

      1. This is a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation. People are already mad at this project for it not being to their standard. Since he is trying to build a brand I think this was the best choice.

  2. >Kickstarter for Red Ash tanks
    >They receive “funding” from Fuze, a chinese company.
    >Mighty Number 9 gets delayed shortly after.

Coincidence???? … … Meh, probably. But I say NOT.

    1. 1- Release Delay Information Only to Backers
2- Release Delay Information when majority of America is asleep
3- Release Delay Information during EA Gamescom Conference
      4- ???
      5- Profit
      This is too delicious.

        1. Entitlement. People that use that word dont even understand what it means. Voicing your opinion, on any matter, is not entitlement. Stop using big words you dont understand.

  3. I’d rather it be delayed then them release a crappy title. Honestly, they’ve been pretty lame with their funding and could’ve untilized it better, But at the end of the day I’ll still buy this game and hopefully it’ll be as enjoyable as the Mega man games. Based on the demo beta released I’m impressed with the concept but it definitely had bugs to work out and I hope the game is solid.

      1. I actually enjoyed playing through the demos. There were obvious bugs and other problems that really needed to be addressed, but for what it was I found it rather enjoyable. Then again I am a Mega Man fanboy and I appreciated even the less favored titles simply because it was Mega Man.

    1. Mega Man fans and Backers who support the game as it’s spiritual Succersor and honestly everyone who uses Kickstarter to fund a project should, because if this game doesn’t deliver it’s gonna give Kickstarter a reputation Blow since the Kickstarter bubble may explode with this one

        1. The franchise is abandoned, the indie revival is gasping for air, THE FUCKING COMIC BOOK IS GOING ON HIATUS! Thing’s ain’t lookin’ up for the Blue Bomber.

  4. Some people are fickle. While Devil’s Third is getting crap for releasing with problems, Mighty No 9 is getting crap for being delayed to fix problems.

      1. It’s out… in Japan. I’m mostly referring to the people mad at Devil’s Third because of the reviews saying it’s glitched or something.

    1. Here is a bit of a thing. Mighty No. 9 will probably be “bad.” A good/decent game but failed to live up to the ludicrous standards of it’s hype (see also Broken Age). Bloodstained may be as well, though it isn’t nearly as hyped as MN9 and BA are/were.
Kickstarter seemed like the second coming for many and it has given us some great games. Like Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet but those were kickstarter successes that, for many myself included, came out of fucking nowhere and surprised people.
But after all the hype for Mighty No. 9 passed. It’s been 2 years and still no game. If this doesn’t succeed I feel like the Crowdfunding bubble might burst or a least take a significant hit.
Really the difference is that nobody Pay make Devil’s Third and nobody had expectation for it but Mighty No. 9 has been hyped for 2 years as the spiritual Succersor of Mega Man and Backers such as myself agree in that the demos that we were allow to play have give us a lackluster or bad impression of the final Product honestly after all this i’m starting to see why capcom let keiji go since is obvious that he doesn’t know what he is doing with the project seriously i’m with Hideki Kamiya in this one Inufune is a buissnesman not a creator

      1. There are good and bad kickstarters. If kickstarter takes a blow with Mighty, it’ll recover with something else like Yooka Laylee which I have no doubt will be very successful. So, not all hope is lost for kickstarter.

  5. 3d platform Megaman, please… stop being douches and get it done… this game looks “OK” but dropping the ball on some great IP in Megaman is straight up dumb as fuck

  6. Wait, I remember receiving an email LONG time ago stating that the game would not have been ready till 2016 or am I imagining this. So really, this is not news

  7. Honestly I think the dash attack ruins the game. Why even you your gun or any other weapon when you can literally dash through everything? And the level design is very generic IMO.

Yea, ive lost hype in this game..

And they better fucking pray to the gods Capcom doesn’t announce a new Mega Man game….lol not that that would happen of course, but if it did this game would be forgotten very quickly…
