Nintendo has released some character art for the long-awaited Star Fox Zero which is under development from Platinum Games. This is the first Star Fox video game we’ve had in a long time, so it’s great to see how Nintendo and Platinum envision how characters such a Fox, Slippy, Falco and Peppy look in 2015. Star Fox Zero is due out on the Wii U towards the end of the year.

Splatoon is Third Person. I think the First Person for Starfox Zero is done on the Gamepad, while the T.V displays a Third Person view.

Off-screen play is amazing, and I use it all the time.
I would concede that it should be optional, but nothing streams as flawlessly as the gamepad does, and being able to console-game without a TV is fucking awesome.

An OTG adapter with a regular processor would suffice to stream the gameplay content to any tablet.

I don’t always have access to my TV, and sometimes I like to play at the gym while on an ellyptical, one time I played at the airport. Sometimes I’ll play AC4 and plunder ships while in bed.
It depends on your lifestyle. I use the gamepad 85% of the time, there’s nothing wrong with Nintendo having mastered flawless streaming.

But what bothers me the most is really no one thinking about bringing the stream to a tablet — as you also mentioned. Heck, almost every house which has a Wii U has a tablet or even more than one. Bundling the console with the pro controller would reduce the costs and developing adapter to turn a tablet into a second screen would be awesome.

So, I don’t particularly think developing an app for tablet streaming is a bad Idea, but they would need to make sure it works with Android, iOS and Windows. And everytime there is an OS update, people’s tablets wouldn’t work until Nintendo updated their app (usually). There is No way Nintendo would commit to long-term support for such a thing, and with as many variations there are to Android, and people using different levels of iOS firmware…it could end up being a nightmare…which might be why we haven’t seen it yet.
Plus, I like gaming with analog buttons. :]
The gamepad was the only fool-proof way to make “tablet streaming” work. Again, maybe it should have been optional, but all other options would have been a bitch to execute.

Off tv play is nice but honestly it’s only use is when you don’t have access to a TV. I always do. So it’s useless. And anything on a console that relates to handheld playing doesn’t do it for me. I hate handheld it hurts your neck and the screen is too small. And the gamepad and 3ds are both quite uncomfortable for hands for extended play. Off tv is a bonus feature nothing more, not even close to an actual selling point if that’s all it does honestly.
Same here but I watch wrestling on Mondays & Thursdays so the Gamepad is nice to have when I want to watch that while still playing video games. ESPECIALLY when a match I don’t care for occurs or someone I don’t like is running their fucking mouth for more than 10-15 minutes because they aren’t very captivating when on the mic.

The gamepad screen is larger than the Vita screen. If I’m going to off-screen play, I like the large screen set in the middle of a pro-controler…the Vita is just too damn small for off screen…that’s why noone uses it practically.

While Capcom uses zero to represent a prequel, ala Resident Evil 0, Nintendo uses zero to represent a remake, ala Metroid: Zero Mission. With that said, I wish just this once Nintendo would have used zero in the same fashion that Capcom used it. This makes the 2nd reboot for Star Fox. Like Metroid, it seems Nintendo just doesn’t know how to move forward with the franchise as they hit a road block.
It’s not a remake, though. Not a prequel, not a sequel, just a new Star Fox game. And it combines elements from several Star Fox games, including the cancelled Star Fox 2. I’d say it’s just a re-imagining of Star Fox in general.
Nintendo reps themselves said this game was a reboot- that Star Fox is starting over again plot-wise. Xeno is right. This makes the second time SF has been rebooted, and personally I wanted a sequel. I wanted to see how the hell things could have progressed past Command like which ending was canon.

I agree. There are tons around here. I love Nintendo, but I’m not against playing on a PS (saving for my PS4) or a PC, don’t really like Xbox except for a few games here and there. For tactics, yeah, I can see how that can help, specially on games like CoD or Splinter Cell, both of which I have. I guess my experience hasn’t been so good mostly because of my internet connection in my country, but yeah, I can see how it could help out.

Yeah, that could be an option like many others have done in other games. Like I said, I just don’t like it personally, so I switch it off. But you could also think about the technical issues, honestly, I love Nintendo, but their hardware is just not that powerful, so I wonder how much of that communication it could actually handle, like I said on my original comment, bandwidth is consumed on sending the audio of the chat in addition to the game information. But yeah, an optional voice chat should be available if the hardware can handle it.
Then it’s nintendo’s fault for making such a weak system if the Wii u truly can’t handle voicechat!
