Nintendo Software Technology (NST) Appear To Be Developing Mobile Games?

A recent job listing by Nintendo of America suggests that Nintendo Software Technology (NST) has been set to work on mobile games and applications in the future. Mobile is now a huge segment of the games industry and Nintendo plans to showcase one of their mobile specific titles later this year.

“New job listing, for a “Software Engineer — Mobile Game Developer”, suggests that the successful individual in the role will “play a key role in helping Nintendo build fun and engaging mobile applications and games as a member of NST’s game team.” They must also possess “working knowledge of iOS and/or Android SDK’s.”

          Again,
Actually, this might mean that Nintendo could be expanding into Tablets and Smartphones which are increasing in popularity… so really your comment is pretty strange seeing how gaming on the go is slowly becoming the norm which means consoles could be making their way out as Sony and Microsoft choose to go for a streaming riot (i.e. PlayStation Now, Steam Streaming).

Also, it seems to mean that the NX is actually the name of the OS running on hardware that will show case what the OS can do. If Nintendo does it correctly then expect Steam OS and Windows 10 having some competition with the NX OS from Nintendo. It also means Nintendo can still make their games exclusively for their software, which recently Valve has being doing with games such as Team Fortress 2 (the console versions are not active anymore), DOTA 2 and Counter Strike which have been big successes for Valve. Nintendo creating a OS that will work on console, handheld, smart devices and possibly a Nintendo Gaming PC (in future) will show that Nintendo is more progressive than both Sony and Microsoft.

Microsoft are already considering getting out of the smartphone business and focus on Windows 10 and Xbox. Windows 10 is a great example for Nintendo to follow as it has been seen running on smart devices, PCs (obviously) and even the Xbox One uses a custom version of the OS.

Sony to be honest is miles behind as they’re focusing more on hardware and games rather than seeing the future of gaming.

Nintendo like to think forwards with gaming, hence why the Wii, DS, DSi, 3DS and Wii U were created, as ways to create new ideas that could change the industry.

Microsoft is making the way for the future of cross generation gaming with PC and Xbox thanks the Windows 10 OS.

So really, this is the sign that Nintendo is moving forward rather than ending themselves. They could become the next Valve at this point but instead of having multiple companies creating hardware with Nintendo’s OS, they’ll be the ones creating the hardware much like Apple but focusing mainly on gaming and what gamers want.

      1. Popularity by retards who can’t manage a proper budget and recognize BS cons plus not knowing WTF makes a video game great anymore or never had. That’s what mobile is for: Morons who forgot or never knew proper video gaming and can’t see mobile as a cheap cash cow scam.

  2. Make sense since they worked allot on the Nintendo Framework which is the HTML 5 compatible engine and they did Tipping stars which was built entirely on HTML 5.

  3. *prays Metroid Prime: Federation Force’s reveal for Nintendo 3DS at E3 2015 was just a very late April Fool’s Joke, and a bad one since the joke hasn’t been revealed as such yet, & is really just a mobile phone game*

    1. Honestly, Metroid Prime Federation Force is better than 99% of all mobile games, and it is worth $40 more than most mobile games that are $1.

  4. NST have made some amazing games it’s a shame to make them make mobile games, Nintendo consoles need more western game developers and western games, I want Wave Race and 1080 back
