Eurogamer has had the opportunity to interview Mr. Miyamoto about a number of things including the highly requested Super Mario Galaxy 3. The game has to be one of the most requested titles by Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto knows this. However, he says that if they did make a new Super Mario Galaxy game it would be on new Nintendo hardware which presumably means the Nintendo NX.
“[A new Mario Galaxy] is always in discussion. But even with Mario 64 there was a lot of feedback about motion sickness with the 3D or maybe us making it too difficult.
“Going back to our roots and making New Super Mario Bros., anyone can play that,” Miyamoto continued. “So that’s why we went back.
“We’re always thinking, is there a middle ground where people who do enjoy the 3D worlds of Galaxy and those who enjoy New Super Mario Bros. can both enjoy it? We’re always looking at those opportunities,” he added.
“On the other hand, me and [Yoshiaki] Koizumi-san, director of Galaxy, are always looking to challenge Galaxy and do another 3D action title. However we can’t make so many games at once in parallel.
“But as the hardware technology gets better and advances, I think there will be a lot of opportunity for both options.”
When asked what extra hardware power would be needed – and whether this meant Nintendo would now wait for its upcoming NX console – Miyamoto was coy:
“Wii U’s definitely good enough in terms of hardware performance, it is more the workload of the team. If you look at Star Fox Zero, the TV and GamePad are both rendered in 60 frames, so in total that’s 120 frames. It’s really just a matter of the CPU speed at this point.”

Also, for it’s first run, it should have booted to “Desktop” mode and only booted to Metro mode if on a tablet. Desktop users were like, “What the fuck???”

As you’ve said, I’d much rather have a remake of an older title, most preferably Sunshine, or just an entirely new concept. Galaxy seems too overdone to me personally, to be honest. I don’t really understand why people want another entry when the last one wasn’t even all that long ago, but that’s just me, of course.
Hmm, I didn’t play Galaxy until more recently as I did not own a Wii before until the last year, and I absolutely loved the game. The gameplay was fluid and addicting. The graphics wefe clear and colorful. The art style was actually quite beautiful at times in my opinion, and I really thought that it was one of the greatesr Nintendo games I had ever played. Honestly, I would consider actually buying another Nintendo home console just gor a new Galaxy game. I guess we all have differing opinions on games though, so I don’t mean to argue, I just wanted to share how I felt.
I agree with you, Galaxy definitely was a great game, and I enjoyed it a lot. I liked 1 better than 2 actually, but that’s probably 1 was entirely new and we hadn’t had anything quite like it before. With Galaxy 2, you were still somewhat familiar with the enviornment and all that stuff. Still a good game though, of course. But yea, I still wouldn’t want a new Galaxy game anytime soon, honestly. It’s totally alright if you want another one though – as you’ve said, people just have different opinions.

Most of them are probably young and it’s all they know. I’ve noticed a lot of young nintendo fans are desperate to seem as if they know the best nintendo games and what’s up but most of them have terrible taste.

New Mario Bros. isn’t an annual release game dummy. First one (DS) came in 2006. 3 years later, Wii version came out and then two more (New Mario Bros. 2 & U) in 2012. That’s it. We haven’t had a 3D Mario game (not counting 3D World) since 2010. It’s been a while.
3D World is a 3D Mario game. It’s LITERALLY called “3D” World. Just because it’s not what you wanted (just assuming here, because you complain and whine about everything) doesn’t mean it’s not a 3D Mario game.

Correction: most complete at launch. Splatoon was far from being complete when it was first released since they held back content because said content needed some work done on it. Speaking of Splatoon, sorry to break it to ya but that game is casual. 2 minute online matches, no online match customization, arenas are set on a rotating system, content was held back because casuals can’t handle everything all at once. Oh & don’t even get me started on Metroid Prime: Federation ChibiShitForce.

Nintendo developed 3DWorld like that because they knew that if they were to develop a real mainline 3D Mario, it would take too long, and consumers would drop like flies. So instead they opted towards an easy and fast developing strategy that would finish the game early enough to be in the market.

Super Sunshine looked beautiful for a 2002 game. It’s not fair to call a game horrible because you didn’t like it, it’s just not for you. I don’t personally like A Link to the Past, but I still view it as a great game.
mario sunshine was a great game i ever played the story line was perfect and seeing peach and bowser talk normally is awsome instead of using text speech they should do another for that instead of using text speech.

Well……I think Miyamoto just confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy 3 will heading to the NX and possibly Pikmin 4 as well and couldn’t be even happier. If these are indeed the launch games for the NX, then it’s gonna be off to a very promising start
Thats a shame. I have to pay $300 to play Pikmin 4 because his lazy ass did start on it immediately after Pikmin 3.
I love how people were begging for SMG3 and new games and when they finally start talking about making SMG3, “Eh, was never really interested in it. Remake SM64!”

Why didnt they just make Galaxy 3 immediately after Galaxy 2? Could have been on wii u. But Nintendo rather wait 3-5 years on breaks. I guess Galaxy 4 and Pikmin 5 will be on the system after NX .
