You can now pre-register for a My Nintendo account. It will also be your Nintendo Account, Nintendo’s all-encompassing account feature, which the program will use in the future once it launches. It can take just a few minutes to set the account up, especially if you use your Nintendo Network account. However, once the account is live there is not much more you can do. You can change your basic information, including your password, and you can link your social media accounts to it.
Part of the process will require you to verify your email so be prepared to check your email from Nintendo. Nintendo will send you a four-digit verification code that it will ask from you. If the email hasn’t arrived after a few minutes have passed, it may be in your spam folder.

– Nintendo Account is what you will use in Nintendo’s new ecosystem.
– You can link your NNID and other social networks w/ it. I’m guessing Nintendo Account will absorb NNID’s function (lessening potential confusion).
– My Nintendo is the Club Nintendo replacement, separate from but connected to Nintendo Account.
– My Nintendo, along w/ Miitomo, will not launch until next month. Pre-Registration for Miitomo, however, has opened. What is in place now is not (repeat, not) the entirety of Nintendo’s plan.
– The currently available Japanese Nintendo Account has some additional features in place, so there should be more things on your account profile page come the March launch.
Calling the entire thing My Nintendo would’ve been a lot easier for the casual consumer (3DS/Wii U naming all over again), but that’s the current state of affairs.
