Some of you may remember that Jynx in Pokemon Yellow was originally coloured black, but some people took issue with this and branded it slightly racist. However, in the re-released version of Pokemon Yellow, which is available now on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, Nintendo has recoloured the character purple to basically avoid any issues this time around. Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are all available on the eShop for £8.99.

It was never based of a “nigguh”. It’s just a mythical creature. American moms overreacted as usual.
They reacted the same way to Mr Popo in the Dragon Ball universe. But thankfully, unlike Nintendo, Funimation eventually told those people “It’s not our fault you guys are too stupid to tell the difference between a racist character & a character that is of a non-human species.” Mr Popo has been black with big red lips ever since.
Plus, it’s just a cartoon (anime, so to speak).
Although it may seem somewhat offensive to some, people should realize it’s not meant to look that way intentionally.
I mean it’s not like they purposely designed him the way he looked, right? It’s only a character design but pales characteristics of what it supposedly seems.

I swear, African Americans are the only ones that cry racism. Over EVERYTHING it seems. I myself (being white) don’t get offended by anything at all when it comes to racial jokes or insults (or skin colors).
Aside from that, I wish Nintendo would have just made a fully remastered Pokémon Yellow. Like they did with HeartGold and SoulSilver. Sucks that they didn’t. Pokémon Yellow is the one I always wanted to play. Since I heard it was more based on the anime, and characters FROM the anime. Like they all should have.
Well just like the anime, Pokémon Yellow encourages bad habits like not evolving your Pokémon. Ash is historically the worst Pokémon trainer, we should stop basing the anime on him.
The day that the anime stops being based on Ash is the day it will truly die. Which I’m surprised it hasn’t by now.
Except most people that cry racism these days tend to be the people that aren’t even of the race they so vehemently defend. It’s actually a minority of black people complaining while most are like “whatever.”
Good thing Nintendo doesn’t run Funimation. Otherwise, Mr Popo would be purple or sky-blue or some other random color.

WHo wants Pokemon yellow anyway. Being forced with a starter you can find in viridian forest anyway, instead of a starter you can’t find in the wild…
I do! And I already have it downloaded. The game has full color support, unique rival battles, better sprites (that look more like their final designs) and over the course of the game you gain all three of the traditional starters. Not bashing those who prefer Red or Blue. I’m just saying there are many valid reasons why someone would prefer Yellow. (Plus Pikachu is my fav Pokemon and communicating with it in game is too cute)
