Disney Interactive Is Dropping Out Of E3 2016 But Will Have Own Directs

Another day and it seems like another couple of companies are dropping out of E3 this year in Los Angeles. The first company is Disney Interactive who according to a spokesperson says that the team will be will be doing “additional direct to fan engagements through the summer this year.” A lot of people seem to be saying that E3 booths are becoming too expensive and companies would rather hold their own presentations. Wargaming, which makes online PC and console games such as World of Tanks, also won’t be at E3 as “From a strictly business perspective, E3 just doesn’t fit our current direction.”

    1. As someone who regularly watches E3 every year, I much prefer Nintendo’s style of presentation. There’s no wasted time in Nintendo’s E3 Directs, and they’re much more entertaining.

The only positive that I can see to a press conference is real time fan response (which can be amazing: Twilight Princess; or absolutely atrocious: Wii Music).

  1. People forget how influential Nintendo actually is. Pretty soon Microsoft and Sony will have their own direct to fans presentations just like Nintendo. E3 needs to really kiss some serious ass this year if they want to stay relevant in the future.

  2. Can’t they call it something other then a “Direct” like come on now, I know Nintendo did it first and everyone copies Nintendo but seriously call it an “Online Show” or “Online Presentation” or something else.
