Two YouTubers J Wittz and The Completionist recently interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto about Star Fox Zero. Here’s a few notable points from the interview:
- There’s more amiibo functionality for the title that is yet to be revealed.
- The co-op mode will be one player controlling the Arwing and the other shooting.
- The delay to the game’s release date was to make it “more like Star Fox”, whilst also improving graphics.
- Including the retro Arwing was the idea of younger staff members.
- The idea of how the Arwing was controlled came from a prototype of a game with a remote controlled plane.

It’s hardly something new, and it usually works pretty well.
I’m glad it’s there, really. I’d probably end up using co-op more than any online mode they could have included.
It sounds awesome! This could make for hilarious videos of people working together too.
Delay wasn’t to add online multiplayer so the game won’t have online multiplayer confirmed. *sigh* Thanks again, Miyamoto, for being out of touch with some of your western audience that want online multiplayer in their Star Fox. I guess I should get more into Star Wars Battlefront on my PS4 & just live with the absence of space battles & the absence of an actual full length story. :/
The co-op mode was actually something me and my friends were hoping for. It could make for an interesting experience. It almost reminds me of Double Dash, where one player drives and the other controls the items.
Really can’t wait for this game!
I thought the same thing. That was a lot of fun in DD.
Big thanks to the younger staff for the retro Arwing. : )
Yeah, I was thing “of fucking course” as I heard that. The younger staff keeos coming up with cool ideas.
I find it amusing that the older staff was about moving onward and younger staff was about bringing the retro stuff back. It’s also good they have young staff to learn how to keep ideas fresh so when the old guard sit back they can still keep things new and different without clinging too hard on nostalgia.
Yeah, that too. Whatever happens, I’m sure the new generation will manage.
This game is meh
