Velan Studios have announced that they are the developers of the fantastic-looking Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2 in a post on BlueSky. You may rememberer the name as they were the team behind Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. The team says that it’s a relief to reveal that they were behind the upcoming game. A demo for Star Fox is now on the Nintendo eShop for you to try out.

We’ve been passionately working on this for a while, and we’re so proud to finally share it with the world: Velan Studios is the developer of Star Fox™!Collaborating with Nintendo and bringing Fox McCloud and crew to Nintendo Switch 2 is truly an honor. #StarFox #NintendoSwitch2

    1. You can cancel pre orders digitally as long as they are a week before the games launch. But may I ask why you wan’t to cancel after learning what studio made the game? They seem like a fine studio, and the demo has been fun to play.

    2. Guessing the game might be too basic for him.. or he’s played the original and it’s too samey with not enough additional content to be worth buying again.

Most good gamers will breeze through the whole thing probably in <5 hours, excluding the challenge mode they added.

  1. American studio. That’s why it looks ugly and I was under the impression it was Nintendo in house. Metroid Prime 4 was bad and Luigi is made by a Canadian studio so who knows how this turns out.

  2. Sort of odd to give a game that’s finally getting a second life to a studio that hasn’t really proven itself. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Valen made around COVID times? What games do they have? A Mario AR game, A VR game, A F2P game that failed, and a Mobile game?

I hope I’m wrong, but it looks like they’re sending out this game with no expectations.

    1. The game looks incredible, but I think it’s kinda funny that it was made by the same studio that made home circuit, like that’s just funny. Weird pick for Nintendo, but they knocked it out of the park!

      1. I’ve yet to play the demo, so I’ll reserved judgement, but I’m seriously left scratching my head as to why this is the studio that this game was given to.

        1. I don’t know, I suppose because Home Circuit and Star Fox have vehicles, and you can traverse maps with them? Nintendo probably also saw the Landmaster sections and thought Velan would be a great candidate because of their work in HC. Who knows?

  3. I thought Home Circuit was really well made, unique, and fun. Glad to see this team getting to work with Nintendo more.

  4. If Nintendo is just sourcing out making its games instead of making them themselves, what the hell are they making in house that takes all their time? And where is this product? Switch 2 first party support seems not as great as I would expect at least in terms of announced titles as of now.

    1. I am trying to remember some of the outsourced games on switch 2. Camelot with Mario tennis, good feel with yoshi, koei techmo with hyrule warriors. I think the rest of the switch 2 titles are in house if I am not mistaken.
