Gyms have been enabled in the latest Pokemon Go field test update. Trainers are now being presented with team selection screens. A Reddit thread has been made on all the latest discoveries. There are three teams, which are Red, Blue, and Yellow. You can control a gym by being the first to place a Pokemon in it. However, what may be the biggest discovery is that combat is in real-time and not turn based. Apparently, PokeStop item and ball drop rates have also been reduced as much as 80%.
Pokemon GO will be released on Android and iOS mobile devices later this year.

Real battles? Yay! I was really worried there wasn’t gonna be fighting in this game so im glad there is!
I know right? So glad that idea is coming through, really thought they weren’t gonna implement that idea in this game.
Man I’m so hyped for this game! D:
I figured eventually someone would complain about how it’s not turn based so I’ll elaborate here like I did elsewhere. If it’s supposed to be Pokemon in real life, taking turns isn’t plausible. “I’ll shoot you then it’s your turn!” Kinda like what Pokken is supposed to be.
Just wanted to say thanks for citing your source! Unfortunately, not all media outlets have been this professional about our interview material.

nice! that’s awesome!
“You can control a gym by being the first to place a Pokemon in it.”
Does this mean that gym leaders will be actual players? Like could I potentially become a gym leader?
Sounds like it. However, if that’s the case, they’ll probably have a “defend the title” system to swap leaders over time, and I don’t know how that can work without destroying team diversity.
So I just looked into it a bit. This is what I found.
“Gyms can be found at real locations in the world. Each player can place only one Pokémon at a particular Gym, so you’re encouraged to work with others on the team to build up a strong defense.”
“If a Gym is already claimed by another team, you can challenge that Gym using your own Pokémon. Using the Pokémon you’ve caught, engage in battle with the defending Pokémon at the Gym to claim control.”
Now, this all sounds fine, apart from the last part.
“PokeStop item and ball drop rates have also been reduced as much as 80%”
Great, now that they know the game works, they can start forcing us to fork out for every item in the game rather that letting us acquire them through skill alone. When I heard there were microtransactions, I was turned off. I’m even more so now, knowing that I’ll never get a full team without robbing multiple banks or obtaining a small loan of a million dollars.
I highly doubt it’ll be that bad. Look at Miitomo as an example.
This game is looking pretty rad so far <3 Cant wait to try it out
Why do I see you in my MNN feed? XD
