Source Gaming conducted research on what Sakurai thinks about balancing in Super Smash Bros. In it, it is explained why Smash is “designed in a way that the most skilled player may not always win” because Sakurai wanted a game where players were able to “brush off losses, and be able to say, ‘that was fun!’ even if they didn’t win”. Sakurai’s priority with Smash is that it is fun. However, perhaps his biggest statement is that balancing the game is something he doesn’t believe in if it “decreases the fun factor”.
As for balanced characters, Sakurai doesn’t want them if it means that “characters become homogenized”. He feels that characters that “stand out in a certain way”, and having characters that “feel unique and possess individuality” is more important.
There’s a whole lot more covered by Source Gaming. If you wish, feel free to see their results by watching the video below, or by checking out their article here.

That makes total sense. Plus if you turn items off and play on omega stages its pure skill based so no one is left out!
Every time Sakurai says something I feel enlightened. Seriously, the guy is a well of wisdom
“The game should be played in the way you want play.”
So if a Bitch is rolling in a 1v1 match, then let that bitch roll.

do i detect a minor stab at the competitive community?
(i hope so)

Sakurai is living in a dream world. Of course this is the same guy who breaks his own “rules” and though a 3DS version existing and both games having an identical roster were good ideas.
I bet Bayonetta isn’t even recognized as a second SEGA rep (like Ryu is to Mega Man), but a “popular IP”. And FYI, getting your ass kicked trying to 20-streak Crazy Orders with Mario, and trying to get to (let alone bet) Master Fortress is NOT fun.
See you all in the new twenties for SSB5, when more veterans get cut for petty reasons….
The only Veteren that was cut was Wolf and Ice Climbers. Ice Climbers had legit reasons. Wolf was a clone anyway. One Veteran didn’t return. Everyone else did. Even some older Melee Veterans. Are you just salty over Wolf?
Bayonetta doesn’t have to be considered a specific company rep either? If anything she’s probably considered a Platinum Rep, considering the game was made by Platinum and the relations between Platinum and Nintendo have been pretty good lately. But I don’t see how this affects the game in any way at all.
Don’t even try that shit. Wolf was rushed as shit and LITERALLY HIS ARMS WAS OFF IN AN ANIMATION! It’s very understandable why he didn’t make it in. If they would’ve had much more extra time then yeah Wolf would’ve been a bigger priority. Series is represented just fine with Falco, Fox, Stages and a chat easter egg anyway. Blame the 3ds for being too weak to handle the Ice Climbers and Pokemon Trainer. Literally the whole entire transforming gimmick was removed because of the 3ds. Taking Pokemon Trainer who’s all about the gimmick down with it. Snake was a lost cause to begin with, Kanomi doesn’t even give a shit about Nintendo who doesn’t care about them either. He only made it because he was begged to be put in. If “veterans were cut for petty reasons” we wouldn’t of got Olimar, ROB etc back. In return of those lost Brawl veterans we got popular Melee guys back which is honestly very awesome and fair. Especially Mewtwo who STILL didn’t make it into the original roster. So in total your argument is very mediocre 0/10.
Your argument is very bad.
I would like to point out that it wasn’t the 3ds that couldn’t handle the ice climbers, it was rosalina, or that’s my theory. Rosalina, functions on the same level as the ice climbers with two characters being controlled by one person. The only reason I could really see ice climbers not working, is if the polygon count was too high, and that’s why they wouldn’t work on the 3ds. Luma has less polygons so less taxing on the system, so ice climbers was probably cut because of polygon count.
Incorrect. If you ever saw Nana in action she was basically an entire CPU that could pick up items and everything. Luma is basically a tool with eyes, he doesn’t have as much of freedom as Ice Climbers and even then Luma was running at 30fps last time I checked. Ice Climbers are more unique than that. That’s the reason why Ice Climbers were picked in the first place. That Rosalina argument is very stupid. Who even uses that anymore? Duck Hunt and Rosalina’s “partners” are only tools for a moveset. Popo was much more reliant on Nana that without her he can’t even recover. Rosalina can still fight without Luma and barely anything is affected with the star gone.
I never actually knew that Nana went and picked up items on her own. I was comparing the two because Rosalina and luma, are a partner team. some of Rosalina’s attacks are used with the Luma, and without the Luma, those attacks can’t be done until the Luma respawns. From when I used ice climbers, I noticed that Nana would jump up onto the platform if she fell off on her own, and having her gave you a recovery. When Nana was defeated, You lost your recovery and then your attack is basically reduced to half because you don’t have both of them attacking. To me it seemed like Nana, since her attack had a slightly delay, in my opinion at least, would mean that the game tells Nana to do an attack slightly after Popo starts her attack. Nana basic AI functions then would be to jump up if she falls off on her own, pick up items, and follow the player. With Luma, luma is basically an attack, but it is a character that can be attacked and defeated. The luma, while having low damage, after falling will race back to Rosalina, much like how Nana would if she was falling off the stage. The luma also follows rosalina around. The only thing the luma can’t do is pick up items. Luma can also be launched and fight while rosalina is grabbed and help get her out of the grab. Luma is, in essence a form of Nana. On a basic level they function exactly the same, minus the picking items up. When you think technical limitations, how much the 3DS can render is a factor. Having 4 luma’s on screen is less intensive than 4 Nana’s because of textures and polygons. What probably happened is that having ice climbers, proved to be too much on the system, not because of how they function, but how many polygons they have and their textures. Luma basically is yellow and black which isn’t hard on the system. Ice climbers have white, pink, blue, brown, black, and grey on their textures, which would mean more detail, larger file, and then more strain on the system. So honestly, It probably was the polygon’s and textures that caused issues with the Ice Climbers and not how the character handles.
Oooor you know the fact that 3ds couldn’t handle 8 player smash aka 4 Ice Climbers on one stage?
Handles 4 lumas and 4 rosalina’s on the screen at once…so once again limitations due to polygon count
Luma like I said is a tool with eyes. Rosalina can perform everything without Luma barely anything is affected. Just less kill power.
Sakurai you say that yet you did balance patches XD never change man. You keep the series feeling fresh and alive. Anyone else would just blindly throw characters in and would call that a game but you like to expand upon that. It’s a shame we’re heading towards dark times where people are screaming fuck Sakurai and want him fired over one character that’s not even a clone and is completely unique. Give this man a break the characters you wanted that didn’t make it have an even bigger chance in a possible future Smash title.
which character are you referring to?
Corrin
balance is absolutly important if I go online and the only thing I go against is stupid sheiks then thats not fun at all.
-||I can’t stand spammers, they are so incredibly boring and predictable, learn to play or stay out of gaming||-
On that I absolutely agree with you. Link spammers are even worse than Shiek spammers though…
“I’m going to spam the boomerang and arrows all day and only attack when you get close, and sometimes I won’t even do that! I’ll just roll spam away! LOOK AT HOW GOOD I AM AT THIS GAME! PRAISE ME!”
How about no?
-||I think Kirby spammers are the most annoying, just that uppercut move for 2 minutes||-
I still think (aside from the huge roster) that this is the worst Smash Bros. game yet. I tossed it aside faster than any other Smash Bros. game. And all because of it not having a single-player story mode to play through. That destroyed it for me, since I have no interest in most multi-player games. In fact, I won’t even buy anymore Smash Bros. games if I hear they don’t have a story mode next time. It would be great if the so-called NX port of this game featured a story mode. But I won’t get my hopes up.
Smash tour is crap, everybody complained about that broken mk8 battle mode and nobody said a single word about smash tour, the sakurai bias.
“Sakurai bias” lol k
Good riddance. And can you really blame him? It was so much work put into it, it made Brawl a rushed game and even then the story mode didn’t even get that great of feedback! Everyone back then complained that the Subspace Emissary was somewhat bland in it’s level design, since most of them weren’t famous locations from various Nintendo games. They were disappointed that a lot of the basic enemies weren’t more common Nintendo enemies, since Bowser’s Minions, and the boss battles were the only iconic Nintendo villains encountered, a lot of characters such as Ganondorf and Ike don’t do well in platforming, great maze? Never again, the focus between each character was very imbalanced, (Lucas receiving most of the screentime through out the story mode being the primary example.) and it was overall wasted potential. Those were basically most of the complaints. Everyone only likes Story Mode because of cutscenes. And it’s definitely not the worst. Single Player wise, I think it still doesn’t happen to be the worst.
I think this might really be his response to the complaints about the new DLC characters being too strong, people getting ready to ban Bayonetta from tournaments and that he’s sick of making balance patches now.
Oh hell naw. I love me some Bayonetta but she gotta tone it down she’s taking a game where a monkey is the best character way too seriously.
“As for balanced characters, Sakurai doesn’t want them if it means that “characters become homogenized”. He feels that characters that “stand out in a certain way”, and having characters that “feel unique and possess individuality” is more important.” Except if those characters that could stand out are from Metroid or are the Ice Climbers. Fuck Ridley, Dark Samus, Rundas, Sylux, etc. Right, Sakurai?
Even if homogenized, maybe a character should be put in because fans want them and it means you LISTENED for a change!
We’ve been asking for K. Rool, Krystal, Sylux, etc. for YEARS but he’d rather make a whole tenth of the roster Mario characters and then another tenth Fire Emblem characters, and then of course make sure the Kirby and Kid Icarus characters are among the best in the game.
Because no one cares about those choices except AMERICA. Think for once in your life. King K Rool is so irrelevant he doesn’t show up as the villain in DK anymore. How do you know everyone else gives a fuck about them? Bayonetta used to be not a serious choice in America yet she was first in Europe. That says a lot.
I have thought about it, and I’m sticking with what I believe. That’s called CRITICAL THINKING, something they don’t teach in schools anymore, judging by your response.
Sure you have you fucking liar. You’re being arrogant and claiming “Oh Sakurai is just ignoring us fans!” When actually you’re the vocal minority. No one cares about those characters. If they were cared about they would’ve made it in by now. Idiot. What you’re believing is toxic and is what’s gonna end Smash’s career at this rate. Fuckers like you shouldn’t be making a fuss over one unique character to help give another IP more popularity. Seriously. Corrin isn’t even a clone of Marth. The only character who’s even the closest to best is Meta Knight. Even then he literally got nerfed once more in the most recent patch. No one even uses Pit and Dark Pit they’re like somewhere in the middle of the tier list. Palutena is one of the worst characters along with Dedede and even Kirby being like bottom mid-tier or just plain mid tier. Bruh you can’t be complaining about the Mario reps. Their 11 out of a 58 character roster is perfectly justified. That’s Nintendo’s main series. If Star Fox and Metroid had more characters and material to work with like the hundreds of characters with personality Fire Emblem has I can guarantee they would’ve got much more representation.
Hah, call me a liar. You don’t know anything about me.
And really, Sakurai IS ignoring the fans. Yes, Bayonetta won the ballot because she was the most popular. …In Europe. And she was only fifth in America. We still don’t know who was number one here in the States- and what if it turns out that number one here was number two or three there? You cannot deny the possibility. And if that truly turns out to be the case, I think even you would find it hard to deny there’s some serious favoritism going on.
You underestimate how important series like Star Fox and Donkey Kong were/are to Nintendo. The original Star Fox on SNES was Nintendo’s very first even semi-3D game, pushing the SNES to its limits, and the DKC trilogy is what made Rare a household name, plus they were responsible for the creation of Diddy Kong, K. Rool, and just about every other Kong and Kremling.
The problem with the Fire Emblem characters is that most of them are only in one game; they are not consistent like Mario games or Kirby Games. Can you name two Fire Emblem characters who have physically been in more than 3 FE games? DLC and amiibo do not count. Characters like Mario and Link and Donkey Kong work because they are in every game in that franchise, with very few exceptions.
Alright, maybe the Kirby and Kid Icarus characters aren’t the best characters in all cases, but that doesn’t mean there’s no bias. Look at Smash Run on the 3DS; half the enemies are from Kirby and Kid Icarus Uprising ALONE; there are more enemies from those series than from Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon COMBINED. Powers in SR are also lifted from Uprising. Also, look closely at the menus- on just about every screen, there is something from Kirby or Kid Icarus on each one, be it a fighter, stage, trophy, item, etc. Even Mario doesn’t make as many appearances. Investigate how many new music pieces each series got; you’ll find Kirby and Kid Icarus have the most, while series like F-Zero, MOTHER, Metroid, and Star Fox only got one or two, MAYBE three (F-Zero I know only got one, on 3DS- ANOTHER remix of Mute City).
And this is just the bias in Sm4sh; don’t get me started on Brawl.
Metroid has plenty of characters to work with who are important to the series. Ridley is a Pirate commander who murdered Samus’s parents right in front of her and destroyed the colony she lived in- it doesn’t get much bigger or important than that. Dark Samus was strong enough to survive being dissipated by Samus, as well as surviving an entire dimension collapsing, and is one of the most dangerous foes in Metroid because of its control of phazon. Rundas could provide a much-needed ice fighter in the unfortunate absence of the Ice Climbers. Sylux is mysterious enough that he could work, being tooled into a unique fighter, since that’s a big draw of any fighting game.
Smash needs more playable villains- as of Sm4sh, there are only 4: Bowser, Bowser Jr., Ganondorf, and King Dedede (I would not count Wario or Dark Pit as they fit more closely to antiheroes). Highly-requested characters like K. Rool would fill that void.
Call me a liar now that I have valid points- go ahead, your move, kid.
“And really, Sakurai IS ignoring the fans. Yes, Bayonetta won the ballot because she was the most popular. …In Europe. And she was only fifth in America. We still don’t know who was number one here in the States- and what if it turns out that number one here was number two or three there? You cannot deny the possibility. And if that truly turns out to be the case, I think even you would find it hard to deny there’s some serious favoritism going on.” Bayonetta got good votes in Japan, America, and Europe. There’s no point in bitching about this character. Her second game is exclusive to only Nintendo and her first game was published by Sega who happens to be Nintendo’s best friend and they’re not doing anything with the series anymore due to refusing to fund the 2nd game. Bayonetta was a popular choice in the ballot. Bayonetta’s unique, She freeloads off Zero Suit’s model and a few of her animations like the bat swinging animation. Her fighting moves are already there due to being an Hack N Slash unlike King K and Shovel Knight where they would have to throw things together and scrape from the bottom of the barrel like Game and Watch which would take too long AND they don’t have a base model they could copy off of for K Rool. How do you know who voted for who in the US? For all we know the top 4 could’ve been Goku (Anime fans and people who think Goku would been a good character), Shrek (People who are serious about him and Trolls), Freddy Fazbear (Cancerous kids there’s a lot more of them than you think), Ridley (He’s already a boss why would Sakurai pick him… we should all know he wouldn’t pick him for DLC let’s be real here) and Steve (Cancerous kids and maybe a few people who think he would have an interesting moveset)-Not in that order. You shouldn’t count out Europe and the rest of the world… Bayonetta was first in Europe after all meanwhile in America everyone thought she didn’t stand a chance. You wouldn’t believe how many people were joking about the joke choices and even then some people were serious. Yet they were voted in anyway just to have a laugh. We had our chance to make our votes matter but the choices Sakurai would’ve thought HARD about and even put em in over Corrin and Bayonetta was overshadowed by the worldwide ballot. The worldwide requests and such are harder to sort out then you think since there are thousands of characters and opportunities for just one arena fighter unless you’re saying Sakurai should say fuck Japan, fuck Europe and other countries just for America which would be VERY selfish of you.
“You underestimate how important series like Star Fox and Donkey Kong were/are to Nintendo. The original Star Fox on SNES was Nintendo’s very first even semi-3D game, pushing the SNES to its limits, and the DKC trilogy is what made Rare a household name, plus they were responsible for the creation of Diddy Kong, K. America, and Japan alike.) These games also helped advance gaming with unique gameplay. They were the first with this type of gameplay I’m pretty sure. Star Fox managed to get two (formally three) characters, like 5 unique stages with it’s own gimmicks, even different chats between the main characters on different stages. I can guarantee if Donkey Kong and Star Fox had more material that can be bended into Smash AND fit the 3ds limits they would’ve surely got more.
“The problem with the Fire Emblem characters is that most of them are only in one game; they are not consistent like Mario games or Kirby Games. Can you name two Fire Emblem characters who have physically been in more than 3 FE games? DLC and amiibo do not count. Characters like Mario and Link and Donkey Kong work because they are in every game in that franchise, with very few exceptions.” But then that would get old. Are you sure seeing nothing but Mario, Link and DK would not bore people? Lots of people are even saying Mario’s series is getting milked. Fire Emblem switches up it’s characters, even with some characters like Lyn and Roy showing up in like two-three classic FE games in solid roles last time I checked. Marth showed up twice in a consistent role in two or more FE games due to y’know some being Japanese exclusives. It’s easy yet not easy to choose a FE rep. Obviously you gotta go for a lord but there’s like at least over 10 lords so they had to REALLY cut corners with choices even then it didn’t satisfy people.
“Alright, maybe the Kirby and Kid Icarus characters aren’t the best characters in all cases, but that doesn’t mean there’s no bias. Look at Smash Run on the 3DS; half the enemies are from Kirby and Kid Icarus Uprising ALONE; there are more enemies from those series than from Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon COMBINED. Plus all the main Mario enemies show up somewhat in either Assist trophies, Enemies in Smash Run, or Stage Hazards. “each one, be it a fighter, stage, trophy, item, etc.” But doesn’t that apply to Mario, DK, Legend of Zelda and other series too? It saddens me to say this but F-Zero, and Mother’s chances of coming back like FE did is less likely than Fire Emblem’s. Mother 3 hasn’t even got localized and F-Zero. I don’t know man. The only options they have to work with for Mother character wise is Ninten, Masked Man, and Porky. They can’t go for the party members because that would be picking favorites and with a series like Mother aka RPGs you can’t pick favorites. You should know what exactly I’m talking about. Sakurai tries his best to not show bias. Back in Melee he made Kirby the worst character do the fear of showing bias. Plus why is it a bad thing to give two less popular series some fame? Awakening just didn’t seal the deal for Fire Emblem. Fates did because it’s the best of both worlds, they cut out some weeby content, and even brought back cut out classic things like the “Witch” Class. Even bringing in DLC Amiibo with Marth, Robin, Lucina and Ike who sound like they’re directly from Smash. While having a really good story with three entirely different paths. It’s just really good and is a pretty big step forward for the FE series. It would’ve never got this far thanks to Smash. Just imagine the possibilities with other forgotten favorites like Isaac! Oh wait nevermind you only want Mario to take everything. Okay. Isaac also didn’t make it in back as an assist trophy because it was bit too overpowered. And even then it didn’t get much six characters, one assist trophy and only two stages dedicated to it. I just feel like even Punch Out and Pikmin got just as much love. Little Mac literally getting an moveset where it even uses boxer stuff and information in general and is just a mix of all of his games. Something I really can’t say bout the FE characters since more than half swing swords and tada! Do I have to explain on how Pikmin got just as much as love? Olimar and his Pikmin are just… Omg. Beautiful. Uniqueness. I think he has like two or more stages so. Kid Icarus Uprising is an pretty solid, good game too. It had a lot of potential and I’m happy it was brought to it’s fullest in Smash. Just because they got their spotlight just this once doesn’t mean they will take over the series. Plus Star Fox got a LOT of love from Nintendo so they’re going to get something if there’s a Smash 5. Zero, Guard and there’s literally an official animation that gives you cartoon/anime vibes. Also if you don’t feel like Zelda and Pokemon didn’t get enough, don’t worry they’re getting their rightful justice because they have their own fighting games. That’s still going on! Fire Emblem, Kirby and Kid Icarus are not that lucky. Just let em have it, us FE fans and I bet even the Kid Icarus fans are happy with what we and they have. They don’t have to give Fire Emblem in Smash nothing else. I’m grateful and happy.
“Metroid has plenty of characters to work with who are important to the series. Rundas could provide a much-needed ice fighter in the unfortunate absence of the Ice Climbers. Sylux is mysterious enough that he could work, being tooled into a unique fighter, since that’s a big draw of any fighting game.” What kind of character Ridley is? A flying dragon that roars, flies around and attack with firebreaths and the tail? Where is the charisma? Where is the personality? People just keep telling that he is the leader of space pirates and blah blah blah, but Ridley as a character was NOTHING but a recurrent boss battle in the Metroid series. Like at least in Mario, Bowser has some personality and could work his non-canon size into the game. Ridley CAN’T be bended. His whole entire character depends on his size which can’t be implemented. Like the Ice Climbers their gimmick was being together. Sakurai couldn’t implement that in the 3ds version so they had to be cut. What would be a small Ridley? A dwarf-esque lizard with awkward looking wings? Unless we get an Metroid Kart with Ridley canonically resized juuuust right or expand upon him than just his size and intimidation factor he isn’t getting in the game anytime soon. Ridley is unable to be properly shrunken down. It’s never happened and it shouldn’t. Bowser, Charizard, Olimar and etc can get their size messed with because they still look the same. What would be a small Ridley? A dwarf-esque lizard with awkward looking wings? If you haven’t noticed Smash has always been consistent with sizes with the characters in the same series. Samus has been compared to Ridley in size canon all the time. They can’t even make it to HALF the size without being too big. Plus the relationship between them is much more different than any other villain and hero in this roster. Mario and Bowser beat each other up then go out for go karts and sports. Link was just assigned to kill Ganon that was it. Yet they still fought together too in Hyrule Warriors, spinoff or not, even then they would probably just be rivals in Smash than sworn enemies since they were forced to deal with each other since Melee. Kirby and King Dedede’s “rivalry” is basically a joke at this point. Dedede turned into more of a bully than an rival but even then Kirby tired him out so you rarely ever see him trying to legit fight Kirby on his own will. Heck even Fox and Wolf’s rivalry isn’t that deep. Samus and Ridley want to flat out kill each other. They never teamed up together and they shouldn’t start now. Plus Samus is just fine and is happy without Ridley. She shouldn’t suffer just because you guys are desperate for more reps. Unless we get an Metroid Kart with Ridley canonically resized or he gets expanded upon then just his size and intimidation factor and just being an boss to shoot down. Like at least every villain that showed up in Smash was able to be worked in. There’s a lot of things against Ridley. I may or may not be explaining them correctly but there are reasons he can’t, shouldn’t and haven’t made it. I have no problem with Dark Samus. But the problem is, they are really not cared about that’s like going for a plain yet unique but still plain DK boss just because DK needs more reps. That’s like putting in Fay, Katt or Miyu from Star Fox in just to give more reps for example. Dark Samus would be the best choice.
“Call me a liar now that I have valid points- go ahead, your move, kid.” You must feel very original for using the kid insult. But it’s a shame you never realized this. Smash is an Fighting Game between characters who most of them either rarely fight or don’t fight at all. Of course things aren’t gonna be perfect. Especially since some moves and characters would be OP if they were unaltered. Smash isn’t perfect and I don’t think it can ever be, but instead of ditching Sakurai, whining at him and saying he should be fired. It would be more beneficial if you were just more patient and just be happy with what we have. Plus Inkling and other’s chances SKYROCKETS next game if there is one. Especially since there’s less options. Yeah like Little Mac, I don’t think he’s all that popular in Japan but he’s still included because his series is popular worldwide. It makes me sad seeing Smash Fans turn out like this. We upgraded from like an 30 character roster to 58! You must have had way too high of expectations bro. But I’m gonna stop and just say, better luck next game. Let’s leave it at that.
If you expected me to read that entire wall of text, the least you should have done was split it up better.
Also, hrm, let’s see…
“Think for once in your life.”
“Sure you have you fucking liar. You’re being arrogant . . .”
“Idiot.”
“What you’re believing is toxic and is what’s gonna end Smash’s career at this rate. Fuckers like you shouldn’t be making a fuss over one unique character to help give another IP more popularity.”
“. . . you and Brisk’s ass over here . . . ”
With all of those statements made unprovoked, I think the “kid” insult was quite fitting, since insulting people out of the blue, or just for their opinions, is, in fact, childish. You might want to consider refraining from it if you want people to have a serious debate or conversation with you.
But that’s none of my business.
It’s still not original so I don’t give a shit.
Which makes your points pointless if you’re not even gonna read mine. I spaced it separately but whatever not my problem. Continue to be a bitchy ballot baby.
Would you rather I use Shakespearean insults towards you, you bootless, beetle-headed huggermugger?
I’m done with you- you’ve proven you’re not worth mine, or anyone’s, time.
And you still prove to be an arrogant hothead who can’t handle the fact that anyone’s calling you out. Accept it blind ass whining is pointless and is only making you look more pathetic. Get a life ballot baby and learn how to read. When you do your points will actually be valid. Stop trying to make up excuses to ignore my points.

Rool, and just about every other Kong and Kremling.” Kid Icarus, Kirby and Fire Emblem are well-known classics as well (Less known for Fire Emblem’s case but it definitely did score a lot of dedicated fans to the classic series.
Powers in SR are also lifted from Uprising. Also, look closely at the menus- on just about every screen, there is something from Kirby or Kid Icarus on each one, be it a fighter, stage, trophy, item, etc. Even Mario doesn’t make as many appearances. Investigate how many new music pieces each series got; you’ll find Kirby and Kid Icarus have the most, while series like F-Zero, MOTHER, Metroid, and Star Fox only got one or two, MAYBE three (F-Zero I know only got one, on 3DS- ANOTHER remix of Mute City).” Kid Icarus is very understandable since Uprising is a very good game with lots of unique content and the fact it was made on 3ds like Smash 4 is they were able to easily import enemy models in.
And you still prove to be an arrogant hothead who can’t handle the fact that anyone’s calling you out. Accept it you blind idiot whining is pointless and is only making you look more pathetic. Get a life ballot baby and learn how to read. When you do your points will actually be valid. Stop trying to make up excuses to ignore my points. When you actually acknowledge and read my “wall of text” then your arguments will be valid.
Actually, your spacing was crap. Put a space between the quotes & your response to said quotes. You put both the quotes & responses in one single paragraph.
I did actually, I addressed his points separately.
Here.

The fact that we got this character in Smash arguably kills any single argument her detractors had for her. People said that she shouldn’t use realistic firearms because it happened to Snake, yet here she is blasting them shells with no problem. And let’s not forget everyone’s favorite “She’s too sexy for Smash” argument. She managed to still get in Smash with her stripping mechanic (albeit censored) in all its glory. Not to mention her flirtatious personality is intact with her newcomer art featuring a lot of focus on her ass. So at this point, any similar arguments against characters of the like are null and void as long as she’s in the okay. If we were able to get someone like Bayonetta the sky is the limit for a lot of characters. Hell I admit even Ridley and those other Metroid choices have a better chance if she’s able to make it in.
How do you know who voted for who in the US? Little Mac literally getting an moveset where it even uses boxer facts and information and his whole entire inclusion in general is just a mix of all the PunchOut! games. Something I really can’t say bout the FE characters since like at least half swing swords and tada!
Do I have to explain on how Pikmin got just as much as love? Olimar and his Pikmin are just… Omg. Beautiful. Uniqueness. I think he has like two or more stages with an item, and having I think it was two enemies in Smash Run.
Kid Icarus Uprising is an pretty solid, good game too. It had a lot of potential for Smash and I’m happy it was brought to it’s fullest in Smash.
Sylux is mysterious enough that he could work, being tooled into a unique fighter, since that’s a big draw of any fighting game.”
What kind of character Ridley is?
It was really nothing personal, even then they would probably just be rivals in Smash than sworn enemies since they were forced to deal with each other since Melee.
Even then Samus is just fine and is happy without Ridley. She shouldn’t suffer just because you guys are desperate for more reps. At least every villain that showed up in Smash was able to be worked with. There’s a lot of things against Ridley. I may or may not be explaining them correctly but there are reasons he can’t, shouldn’t and haven’t made it. I have no problem with Dark Samus. But the problem is with the other two, they are really not cared about that’s like going for a plain yet unique but still plain DK boss just because DK needs more reps. That’s like putting in Fay, Katt or Miyu from Star Fox in just to give more reps for example. Dark Samus would be the best choice. I’m 100% fine with Dark Samus. I can come to an agreement with you on Dark Samus that’s for sure.
Clearly you haven’t played Hyrule Warriors. Ganondorf & Link NEVER worked together. In each story stage where Ganondorf appeared, he was attacking both Cia & Zelda’s forces if there were three armies on the battlefield, forcing the Zelda forces to fight two armies at once. Whatever teaming up they did was by complete accident, not because Ganondorf wanted to help Link & the others. Ganondorf is an egotistical madman that thinks he’s beyond defeat even when he’s been beaten before. He would NEVER work with his enemies because he truly believes he can win by himself with his own forces. Nice try, though.
He still was playable. Something Ridley never accomplished. Ganondorf barely has anything against him being into Smash unlike Ridley.
Too bad it’s not really Ganondorf but a mutated Captain Falcon cosplaying Ganondorf.
Yet he still happens to be a walking menace. He gives like 19% over one tilt and can kill pretty early. Plus Ganondorf was never just a plain old swordsman. Would you rather him copy paste Marth’s moveset?
Or Sakurai could give Ganondorf an original moveset based more on his Zelda franchise appearances. It’s sad when a spin off made by a non-Nintendo developer (Koei Tecmo with Hyrule Warriors) can do a better job with an original moveset Ganondorf than one of Nintendo’s own guys.
Yet Sakurai doesn’t work on Zelda soooo. Plus he’s super hype af and his disrespect is godly. There’s no way they would be able to make him the same by bringing in the moves from Zelda. .-. Plus the fact he’s able to destroy the roster with only punches and kicks says a lot. So really his taunt even suggests that he doesn’t even need to be brought to his full potential to out strength everyone. So he really does capture the feel of himself from Zelda somewhat.
Yeah that’s what I thought. You better hide behind likes without even acknowledging my points once so ever even though I spaced it better. Proves I bested you. :^)
I already stated you’re not worth my time; I won’t say it again. This gloating over your “win” cements my reasoning further.
No one wants to debate with you when you insult them unprovoked. Learn that, and quickly.
Maybe it’s because I responded to your comment intelligently filled with legit points and YOU couldn’t handle it so you blindly say “You’re not worth my time” and leave.
Not my fault YOU decided to argue back, so naturally I replied back. You just couldn’t handle the fact that I responded with a reply filled with good points and is just trying to make up excuses. Smh.
Damn. You fell for his taunt. He’s just trying to keep you around for attention, dude. I think my initial belief that he was a troll was accurate.
Well it’s not working anymore. He can’t read my posts and understand why I don’t bother anymore, that’s on him, because I mentioned why. Twice.
Yep. It’s best to just let him have his “victory” than to continue on because he’s one of those “I got to have the last word so I can pretend I won!” people. For now, I’m having too much fun with the guy right now to fully stop talking to him. But like with the original Church of Sasori, I’ll get bored of it eventually & stop talking to him altogether. Otherwise, I’m just picking on a mentally challenged person at that point.
Nah he only made up an excuse so he wouldn’t accept the fact that I absolutely destroyed his bs points.
Dude your fucking logic is.
>”Your move kid!”
>Replies destroying your points
>”I’m not reading that text wall!”
>(Eventually) lol k
>Spaces points
>”You’re not worth anyone’s time!”
I guess some of the guys, if not all of them, at Nintendo forgot that fanservice isn’t just giving people something to look at for sexual gratification but it’s also listening to what the fans want instead of ignoring them & shoving shit down their throat with the “We’re going to show you why you should like it!” mantra. Arrogant, egotistical assholes. Oh & just ignore Gem. He’s a big time Sakurai guy. No point debating with people that take everything their master says as the Word of God.
Look who’s talking! Like I said you and Brisk’s ass over here are the vocal MINORITY. How blind can someone be to say Sakurai is an selfish asshole for not listening to just America. And there you go again trying to throw shade behind my back. You’re worse. You’re just a blind hater literally desperately using any info you could to hate anything Nintendo especially Sakurai. Face it you baby the character you wanted didn’t get in Smash that’s life. Instead of trying to shove characters down it’s throat and whining and screaming at it if you don’t get what you want like an immature brat you could move on and grow up for once in your life. Oh wait. You can’t? Figures. And there’s a difference between believing whatever your “master” says is the word of god and having respect. I RESPECT Sakurai and his series. Apparently due to your big ego I’m an “asskisser” for defending one of my favorite game series naturally ANYONE would do. Outta here with that shit.
Just like there is a big difference between having respect for someone & outright kissing their ass, bub. You are clearly the latter. You can respect someone & still disagree with their choices. It may not look it but I respect the man. Doesn’t mean I’m not gonna call bullshit, though, when I see it. Some of you Nintendo or Nintendo developer defenders are always getting respect & loyalty mixed up with being a sucker.
Yeah because not shitting on anything and matter of fact defending an series makes me an asskisser. I actually bother to look at the full picture. And the Sakurai hate I have been seeing surely doesn’t look like any respect frankly. Like at least a “I appreciate the work has been done to these characters” or something like that would be great, but frankly all I seen from you is bitching, and the ironic thing is. One of the “under represented” series like Star Fox got so much fanservice when Zero came out (an literal official animation) so really, there’s no reason to complain about how much characters there are.
*facepalm* Well no shit all you’ve seen is me bitching about Sakurai because we’re on articles that give me a reason TO bitch. Not my fault the main articles of Smash we get are of subject matter I disagree with. That’s like seeing me bitch on every article about Germany that talks about Nazism in Germany & accusing me of having no respect for Germany. lol
Bitching about Sakurai and bitching about nazism is a big difference.
Yep. You’re an idiot. My point flew right over your head once again.
No you’re one because bitching about Sakurai and an game that is pretty much over is meaningless and pointless, we get it you didn’t get Geno. Look at the full picture for once in your life. There is multiple reasons why Ridley couldn’t of made it in and for Sakurai to not ruin the character. Yet you’re bitching. Lmao. you need to stop the blind hate and actually realize there are reasons why certain characters didn’t make the cut and stop assuming that Sakurai did it out of “bias” which can be a good thing on some occasions.
Short term memory? You’ve already responded to this comment. Or do you just like trying to get my attention?
No it was marked for review or something like that so I made a different reply.
You’re a bigger one with your ignorance. The bitching is pointless and should be put to rest already. Your bullshit is what’s gonna kill Smash Brothers.
Oh no! One little disgruntled fan is going to ruin the chances of a future Smash game! >.< I want to walk away but then again, I don't want you to get a big head again & think you "won" because I walked away again. But you're half right. This is pointless & it should be put to rest. So I'll go ahead & walk away first. Enjoy your "victory," bub.
I have a huge sentiment to not just Smash 4 but the whole series as a whole. It came so far and I don’t want to see it go down like this. And it’s not just you it’s lots of people and it only increased because of the increasing selfishness. I have come to respect Nintendo, Sakurai, Miyamoto, Iwata, etc. Yet people are disrespecting a death of an really good developer who changed the history of gaming and literally was a direct cause of some good games and managed to work with limited materials, over Smash. That’s when I truly know it is gonna be not ruined but dead. And if I’m an “asskisser” for defending my home company and the game company I can really call true, then so be it.
Ice Climbers couldn’t work on the 3ds you can’t be this ignorant, Stop complaining about Ridley. Smash has always been consistent with sizes between characters in the same series. If they did the same for Ridley he would be too BIG. And they can’t resize him because he would look stupid as shit. Ridley has never been canonically resized so he’s never making it in. Rundas? Sylux? No one gives a fuck about them! Only desperate Metroid fans would go for the bottom of the barrel who no one cares about.
It’s the truth. Nobody gives a shit about those two bottom of the barrel Metroid characters.
“Nobody gives a shit..” Oh so you’ve asked every single Smash player, eh, and they have all said they don’t care about any of those characters? Cool. Tell me then. What is everyone’s favorite Smash character while you were giving them a quiz about Smash? Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
I’m talking about those Metroid suggestions stupid.
*facepalm* Are you really this much of an idiot or do you have to work at it? I was talking about those characters, too. Please, get some reading comprehension, bro. Clearly you don’t know anything if you honestly believe nobody has asked for those two. In fact, many anti-Ridley people have mentioned those two as better ideas than Ridley.
Of course because they are literally Ridley haters. They’ll take ANYONE else from Metroid than Ridley. That doesn’t automatically mean they’re popular picks. Popular picks are picks that even non Metroid fans can agree with. There is barely any outside agreement.
Rundas? Sylux? No one gives a fuck about them! Only desperate Metroid fans would go for the bottom of the barrel who no one cares about.
At least we played the games and know who they are, what they do, and how totally badass they actually are.
And you can’t say “No one gives a fuck about them!” because I do. Kalas does. Quadraxis does. Several of our regulars do. So, logistically, you cannot say “no one.”
I’m talking about anyone outside of Metroid. They may be “badass” but a lot of characters in gaming are badass dude. It’s the truth at least more people know who Ridley and Dark Samus is.
I was secretly hoping they would put this little guy in Smash as a DLC character just to piss off all those desperate metroid fans lol

Still better than the Baby or Anthony Higgs.
Eh, at least Anthony was useful and wasn’t spiteful to Samus unlike the incompetent main male character she had daddy issues with.
Yeah, Adam Malchodick is easily the worst character in Other M by a huge shot. Why wouldn’t she be authorized to use the Varia Suit and near fry herself to death? Because of his authoritative bullshit.
I never saw it as being incompetent but just having faith in Samus, the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy that took on entire planets of enemies completely by herself. Like I said before, he did eventually tell her to activate the Varia Suit when she got cornered. Up to that point, she was more than capable of rushing through a dangerously hot area. For me, that was one of the least problematic things in Other M. Oh & it was pretty fun & stressful, in a good way, to rush through that area with a monster trying to kill me because one hit from it would get me killed because of the hot ass area. Not to mention the lava that would speed up the heat damage if we fell into it. For me, the infamous Hell Run was one of the most fun parts of the game. lol *shrug* But when the majority of fans hate one of the games in the franchise, it’s only right to retcon said game.
Hm, from that standpoint, I can see why the Hell Run would be fun from a gameplay standpoint, and I would be inclined to agree. I think I would even start panicking if I made a mistake and fell off the platforms and started scrambling to get back to land. It’s just the whole story/plot-hole part of it that ruins it, though at least its one of the smaller plot holes in that piece of Swiss cheese story.
Well, here’s the incompetent part:
“Oh, these researchers were all slain by a shapeshifting insect? Better have my men split up and go to every last unexplored part of the ship with nothing but ice beams while I sit here safe and sound in my bunker. And I guess Samus can go too as long as she doesn’t start using her Screw Attack without my permission.”
And Adam, did you know for sure that those Metroids in Sector Zero were unfreezable? Did you even try? Did you let Samus try? Me thinks not. Your death was as preventable as half the deaths in The Walking Dead.
Seriously. Did he really have to be on the part of the Bottle Ship getting detached? No explanation whatsoever on whether he had to be on it for it to be detached & blown up or not.
Other M was a mistake. Plus it could’ve been like a joke.
The character that is
