Nintendo America Press Site Says Zelda Is Coming March 2017

We heard earlier today that The Legend of Zelda has been delayed and is coming to both the Nintendo NX and the Wii U. We know the Nintendo NX is launching in March 2017 but what we haven’t heard is when Nintendo is planning to launch Zelda. We assumed it would be March and the official Nintendo of America press site confirms this.

    1. Whoever thought it would be 2013 or 2014 is pretty dumb, it takes a lot of time for a Zelda game of this scale to be made, i was doubting a 2015 release and sure enough they delayed it.

        1. Well, I mine as well make more predictions while I’m at it then:

NX will be unveiled in late August because I said so.

Zelda 2017’s title will be “The Legend of Zelda: Specter Bow”. I have my sources (also known as the hacker “4chan”).

Retro’s 2017 release won’t be a new IP, rather it will be “Metroid Prime Cash Grab”. This one has many sources, obviously, but I won’t name them because you might realize that I’m secretly very stupid, and that I have no credibility whatsoever.

I wonder when Sickr will report on these…
(Just kidding, you know I wuv you, Sickr <3)

          1. *looks at Federation shitForce & throws up* Don’t joke about the cash grab part for a Metroid game when we got that game coming for 3DS which is the biggest cash grab if I ever saw one for a Nintendo franchise.

            1. Well, releasing a main series Metroid game now would be a golden opportunity. You could technically call any new non-Federation Force Metroid for NX a “Cash Grab” (even if it’s not being made specifically because so many people want it).

              1. When you put it that way, & taking Other M into account, yeah. You’re right. It could technically be called a cash grab. xD Very good point!

    1. they originally said simultaneously on NX and WiiU but they never said if it will be in March 2017 with the launch of the NX which technically left it open for a release at any point in 2017. However, everyone pretty much knew that it was coming as a launch title for the NX. This just confirms what everyone pretty much already knew even though they didn’t originally make it clear. so yeah, Zelda was delayed for NX. they just said it was delayed for more polish to not upset WiiU owners.

  1. I’m surprised people aren’t still calling Link a girl, even in this drawing. I always laughed at those people.

And hearing this new release date always makes me cringe. Even my niece is going to croak when I tell her it’s been delayed.

  2. Ok, the delays not too long, and if they need that extra time for the NX then its fine, only about 3-4 months after i thought it would release anyways.

    1. Well, it was scheduled for release in 2015 I believe. So when you add up all of the delays, it comes out to about 2 years. That’s either a lot of polish that the game needed, or Nintendo might just want a simultanious release with the NX.

    1. the nx isn’t a portable, anyone who still thinks that is an idiot. The system is obviously a home console. The 3DS still has a number of games in development set to launch for it, whiel all major projects for wii u have been moved to the NX. Handheld gaming is dying, nintendo jsut entered the mboile market, why in the wrold would you believe it would be a handheld? pull your head out of your ass.

      1. I know you are probably not smart enough to see shades of grey in this kind of topics, but there’s nothing stoping it from being both. If anything, Kimishima’s recent statement about it points at the NX replacing both the 3DS and Wii U.

Try to inform yourself a little bit and use that peanut brain of yours before telling me things I’ve already pondered.

    2. Unless they Launch the NX as one unit, both the on-the-go hardware, and the home-unit it could plug into making it beefy as a PS4. (I’m totally speculating of course)
Then it would actually run a bigger version of Zelda U instead of smaller. IDK. I’m no longer worried. I have my WiiU, 3DS and X1. I’m set for gaming for a few years. ;)

            1. It would be cool if Nintendo released the regular and XL edition of the next handheld simultaneously. For the XL, if it’s as big as a 3DS XL, (I think screen size is almost 5 inches) then it should be 720P. If the regular one has some small 3.5 inch screen again, then yeah. 480P could work.

              1. The problem with that is that they’ either be forced to use two different processors for each iteration or leave the same in both and underutilize it on the low-res model. That would split the specs of both devices, forcing devs to either double the amount of work and optimize their games for two different pieces of hardware or favor one device over the other. It’s the reason why Sony isn’t willing to make the PS4 Neo that different from the regular model, they’d be effectively splitting the install base. Besides, I don’t see a reason why they can’t have 720p on a smaller screen, unless I’m missing something about how resolution is related to screen size.

                1. Nvm, I noticed the flaw with that idea right after I posted the comment…

Makes me wish Nintendo would make just one version of a handheld so that it wouldn’t be dragged down by the other version. I suppose the idea of the NX portable thing you said could be just that. But we’ll see.

  3. So glad to see they are dropping the Wii U after trying to drag it’s dying corpse for so long. It was a failed console, and we can finally move onto to better things. Screw the Wii U, lets hope the NX is as goo as the amount of money they have invested into it speaks.

    2. “lets hope the NX is as goo as the amount of money they have invested into it speaks.”

I would keep my expectation considerably low considering the disaster that is the Wii U. Nothing stopping them from repeating themselves.

      1. I know I should keep them low but it’s hard since I still have faith in Nintendo to do great. But if the NX fails like Wii U… *shudders* I don’t want to think of that right now.

        1. Totally understand. Despite my negative comments, I was still hoping deep down Nintendo was going to do good at E3. Glad to know that’s out of the window now.

          1. It still perplexes me how they’re opting to say NOTHING about the NX at E3 this year, and the new Zelda is the only playable Nintendo game.

I dread that they’re about to shoot themselves in the foot worse than they did last year, and I honestly thought things could only go up from there. *sigh*

    1. Both. Last time I heard, Nintendo tends to use Zelda to test out their next console’s ideas & vice versa.

  4. I can’t wait to see this Nintendo NX.
Nintendo seems to have everyone’s arrention. Though the Wii U i plan on keeping even if Nintendo was stupid in making it a tad more powerful than the PS3 and to why it had a short life span.

    Now Ninten

    1. Ehhhh, it was alright. The gameplay was good, but the mission-based structure killed exploration. Plus I personally liked the atmosphere of the original much better; Dark Moon’s presentation was too “silly.”

      1. Thanks for reminding me why I skipped Luigi’s Mansion 2! Fuck mission based games following after the previous game was an damn adventure.

        1. By that logic, would you also say that about the Sonic Adventure games (SA1 had 3 overworlds connecting the action stages, making it feel like you were actually adventuring around, whereas SA2 threw you from one level to the next with non-interactive story and cutscenes in-between)?

Not criticizing, I’m just genuinely curious.

            1. Well, SA2’s was for the stage select screen. SA1 had adventure fields- not only were they explorable, it was possible to die in them if you got careless. Plus SA DX added a bunch of missions to do in those fields, adding to the sense of an actual adventure.

              1. I’m picturing a Super Mario 64 & Super Mario Sunshine overworld. If that’s the kind of mission based you are talking about then I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m mostly referring to mission based as in nothing in between missions.

                  1. Nope. The only Sonic games that ever really got my attention was Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic & Knuckles, & the infamous & widely hated Shadow the Hedgehog which I felt was wrongly hated because it wasn’t even about Sonic. But in hindsight, I guess Shadow the Hedgehog was pretty much the Sonic fans’ Federation Force. lol Hey! Nintendo is copying Sega! Who would have thunk it, right!? xD
