Japan: Nintendo 3DS Sells 15K And Wii U Sells 4K

This week’s Japanese sales charts are now in courtesy of the team over at Media Create. It’s been a slow week for software as there’s only been one new release due to a dry summer spell. With regards to hardware it’s Sony’s PlayStation 4 that comfortably claims the top spot despite getting off to an admittedly slow start. The Nintendo 3DS sold 15K units while the Wii U struggled and sold 4K. Here’s the best-sellers this week.

      1. I already have one but why waste your money now knowing the NX is coming next year. Not only that, what if the NX is backwards compatible with Wii u games? But the Wii U was a waste of money since launch

      2. He’s going through a change. He’s trying to find himself in his usual robotic way. I surmise he’ll have a new name when they finally give us some official NX details about what it is, what it does, etc.

      3. Back when Super Punch Out first came to the SNES I didn’t think the main character looked very much like Little Mac so I named him Slave #9 instead

      4. @ Anubis What if it isn’t? We don’t even know if the NX is going to have a disc drive. More likely than not, we’ll be seeing select ports of Wii U games, rather than backwards compatibility. There are a lot of great titles on the Wii U that didn’t sell so well. Those games might not ever see release on the NX.

      5. If Nintendo is going to try to be a bit more like Sony & Microsoft with NX & future consoles, I give it a year before they start releasing digital ports of Wii U games onto NX. Hell! They are already doing that with Wii games like Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii U!

    1. Yep. A Dragon Quest Heroes sequel. Meanwhile, instead of Hyrule Warriors getting a sequel on Wii U, the game got ported to the 3DS instead with what is essentially expansion DLC to give the 3DS version more stuff to get people to buy the 3DS game.
