Take-Two Hasn’t Lost Faith In Nintendo And They’re Excited About Nintendo NX

Games Industry has interviewed Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, about a number of things video game related and one of the topics that was discussed was Nintendo. Zelnick says he is pretty enthusiastic regarding Nintendo’s next platform the Nintendo NX and says that the company will never count Nintendo out. Here’s what he shared with the publication in the recent interview.

We’re believers. We never want to count Nintendo out. They do it over and over and over again. So we feel pretty enthusiastic actually,” he remarks.

Zelnick even counters my assessment of Nintendo’s position in the console race. “It’s not a slump, it’s intentional. They come to market, they do really well, and then they sort of exit the market for a period of time. They’ve been doing it for like 150 years, and that company has been doing the same thing… They’re really thoughtful, they come to market with something they really think is going to work, more often than not it really works, it blows up and then eventually they let it decline and they move on to the next thing. They don’t mind having time in between.”

  1. I agree with this statement. Nintendo has persevered so many times when people have counted them out. Sure some of their ideas weren’t agreeable to some gamers and maybe some of their consoles were hit or misses but look at the standard controllers of Sony and Microsoft’s gaming consoles and tell me that those companies weren’t influenced or inspired by Nintendo. The day Nintendo leaves the gaming industry is the day I will forever stop being a gamer because gaming as a whole wouldn’t feel the same to me but I know that day will never happen because Nintendo isn’t going anywhere. Their franchises and inovations will forever be the staple of gaming

    1. Nintendo no longer in the gaming industry would be a sad day indeed. Personally, I wouldn’t stop gaming. But I agree to some extent it wouldn’t feel the same.

    2. Some of us thought the same if the day ever came WCW faded away & WWF continued. Yet here I am still watching it. Sure it won’t feel the same but it won’t be the end of the world, either.

  2. If they announce the sequel to Red Dead Redemption for the NX (not exclusive but alongside PS4 and One), then NX will have a huuuuge success.

  3. Positive feedback doesn’t mean the NX will be a success.

I’m still very hesitant about the NX to be honest. But I’m still excited to see what Nintendo will do.
