Nintendo Unveils Another New Clip From The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Nintendo has given us another look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a new clip that showcases the Korok race. Koroks, which first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, are also featured in the upcoming game – where they are hidden throughout the land and can be found in random places such as beneath rocks and near pools of water. Link will be given Korok Seeds as a reward for finding them. Check out the new clip below:

  1. So fairly sure this takes place after wind waker. Which would make sense, since that timeline has the most technology, and this game is about links use of technology.
But I suspect its more complicated then that

    1. There are only two Zelda games that fall after WindWaker in the timeline. Phantom Hourglass (that takes place in the same Great Sea as WindWaker) and Spirit Tracks. Spirit Tracks takes place on a brand new continent, but in the same world as WindWaker and Phantom Hourglass. So for BoTW to take place after WindWaker it would either have to take place in the same location as Spirit Tracks, or yet another new continent would have to be discovered, which I highly doubt happened…

Odds are this game takes place long before Windwaker, sometime not long after Skyward Sword…

      1. Since we know Breath of the Wild takes place after Link has been asleep for 100 years and we know that Spirit Tracks takes place 100 years after WW & PH, it’s not possible for this game to take place 100 years after Wind Waker. And there is no way there are going to be two Links running about during the same era. It’s been established that there is only ever one Link & one Zelda for each era. So unless they are going to retcon PH & ST as never happening, it’s not possible.

  2. Koroks? YES!!! I love those little guys!!! Does this mean we will get to see a really old deku tree just like in ocarina of time? Or maybe a young one? I mean if this is connected to Wind Waker then the great deku tree is either really old, it withered or we shall see a young deku tree (not as young as the one in Ocarina of Time though).
AAAAH!!! So many things in my mind….

  3. My theory: The old Kikwi in a branch of the great tree in Faron Woods eventually became part of that tree as he grew roots into it. The dragon Faron came along & used her powers to make the Kikwi & the tree into one being, giving the great tree a sentience and very powerful protective magic. This gift also gave him control over his fellow brethren who turn out to be his children. When some of the denizens of the Sky moved to the land, much of it was barren wastelands because of the centuries of having so much evil power circulating through the land because of Demise’s evil leaking from the seal in the Sacred Grounds of Faron. To fix this issue, the Kikwi Elder, now the Great Deku Tree, used his powers over his fellow Kikwi to turn them into the Koroks so they could scatter across the land to repair the damage by assisting in growing new plant life. By the time of Breath of the Wild, which is 100 years after Skyward Sword, they have repaired most of the damage but they still have tons of work to carry out still. Some undisclosed time later, with their task complete, the Koroks were able to return home to the Great Deku Tree who in turn turned them into children, giving them fairies as guardians so they can freely travel the Faron Woods where most of the forest has turned into the Lost Woods, except the area where the Great Deku Tree resides which would become known as the Kokiri Forest.

Stuff to back up my theory: Kikwi, Kokiri, & Korok are all names starting with the letter K ~ this one might be a stretch but there seems to be a theme going on here as the word kid starts with a k & the Kokiri are eternally stuck as kids. Unlike the Kokiri, the Kikwis & Koroks are plant like creatures. Kikwis’ designs are based on the Kiwi bird & the Koroks have the ability to fly so the Koroks might be the next step of the Kikwi’s “evolution.” It’s possible the Kikwi name & their design being based on the Kiwi bird might have been inspired by the fact the Koroks could fly in Wind Waker, so Aonuma wanted there to be some kind of hidden connection between the Kikwis of Skyward Sword & the Koroks of Wind Waker.

Anyway, that’s my theory to explain how Breath of the Wild could have Koroks & still have a bunch of stuff reminiscent from other timelines in Old Hyrule in the game that just aren’t accessible in the Great Sea timeline because Old Hyrule is below the Great Sea and the islands on the Great Sea above Old Hyrule have most likely grown into even bigger islands thanks to the Koroks, making it impossible to return to Old Hyrule. Even if you could return, most of the places like the Temple of Time have most likely become cave systems now instead of huge open fields with a visible sky as Breath of the Wild shows the Temple of Time is in such an open field.

(This year needs to move by faster so we can get more info about Breath of the Wild’s story & possible placement in the bloody timeline. *shrug* Well least we can all have fun coming up with theories to explain things til Nintendo opens up more about the game.)

  5. Every day I think more and more that BoTW is the prequel of WW. I want to see how the world flooded and everything beneath was covered by the water except a few islands.

    1. It can’t be a prequel to Wind Waker because there was no Hero in Hyrule to save it. Hence why Hyrule was flooded to begin with.

      1. Maybe the reason it was flooded was because the hero failed and died and, in a desperate action, Daphness summoned the Triforce to prevent the land from being conquered.

        1. If you paid attention to the prologue to Wind Waker, they specifically state the Hero did not show up to save Hyrule. He can’t fail & die if he never appeared to begin with. And Daphnes couldn’t have done that since Ganondorf had one piece, Zelda had another, & the Triforce of Courage was broken into pieces. The Triforce is useless if it’s not combined into one whole.
