Puyo Puyo Chronicle Coming To Nintendo 3DS

In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, a new game in the Puyo Puyo series was announced for the 3DS. Called Puyo Puyo Chronicle, the game is meant as a celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The game will launch on December 8th in Japan with two versions. While a standard edition will be available, fans of the series will also be able to purchase a special “Anniversary Box” edition.

Unlike previous instalments of the puzzle series, Chronicles will also feature a new “RPG mode”. Players will be able to freely explore 3D environments and tackle over 60 side quests while entering battles using the traditional Puyo Puyo gameplay. As well as this, the game also boasts the standard Puyo Puyo puzzle gameplay with 17 specialised rule sets and a local battle mode.

The “Anniversary Box” will certainly please any fans of the series with its multiple collectables celebrating the 25 years of the franchise. These include:

  • Special packaging
  • 25th anniversary soundtrack
  • 25th anniversary vocal tracks
  • 25th anniversary drama CD
