While it is already available in Japan and Europe, it looks like Super Mario 64 DS is coming to Wii U Virtual Console in North America. The DS remake has been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for a Wii U release. While the Nintendo 64 original is already on Virtual Console, the DS version does offer a handful of new playable characters and missions.

Why cant there be any ds virtual games on the 3ds??
Why would you want a DS VR game on a small hand-held system like the 3DS when you can play it on the big screen on a Wii U? :P
Of course, to the people who don’t have a Wii U, they’ll probably prefer DS VR games to come to the 3DS instead, but I prefer the Wii U.
I’d like the option to have them on the 3DS too. A lot of the DS games were made with the clamshell design in mind, some of the games are kind of weird to play on the big screen as the top screen and the gamepad as the bottom screen. Also, the DS games weren’t meant to be at such a big resolution and end up kind of looking bad.
You already HAVE the option to play them on the 3DS! Just insert and play them! Can’t be too difficult, even for small minded people.
You can play 3ds games both digitally or via hard copy.
Why not with the DS?
I’d rather have them digital for $9.99 rather than paying for an overpriced used cartridge. I did recently purchase a brand new copy of Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime because I really love that game.

there has been a ds vc of the 3ds but only in japan and just one game, Advance Wars Days of Ruin (Famicom Wars DS: Ushinawareta Hikari) but was never released in jp so they released it as a club nintendo platinum reward for the 3ds. is it impossible for a ds vc for 3ds? no. will it happen? not likely unless it was a necessity.
Just recently we got Warioware Touched as a digital download through the My Nintendo program.
And that was the only thing worth 1000 points.
Seriously, I want physical rewards again and Elite Status rewards that actually matter. The gold nunchuck, the Mario Cast figure, the LOZ MM totebag. Is Nintendo too poor to manufacture these items? Milking people out of their money with free-to-play/freemium isn’t enough?
FYI, who actually plays regular picross, let alone Pokemon Picross and LOZ TP Picross.

Finally. I never really got to play this on DS. That said I already bought SM64 on Wii U VC but I guess I can buy this one too just to experience the differences first-hand.
This was one of the first DS games I got. The fact that the cartridge is worn is proof of that.
Haha, same. I can barely play my cartridge for over half an hour without it freezing. Spent WAY too much time on this game. lol

Man. Why can’t they HD remake this? I love the original, but it’s borderline painful to look at. Some sweet HD graphics and tweaks to gameplay (looking at you, impossible to control wing cap) and I’d be thrilled to pick it up for my Wii U. Come on, Big N. You already got me to buy 2 Zelda games I already owed by doing this. It’s a time for a Mario’s HD.
