Nintendo Says No NX News In Upcoming Direct

While rumour says that the NX will be unveiled next month, Nintendo has said the upcoming 3DS Direct won’t feature any news on the mysterious console. Announced earlier today, the next Nintendo Direct will take place on September 1st. However, replying to an email from GamesBeat, Nintendo claimed that the NX won’t be appearing. While this is probably a disappointment to some fans, the Direct was specifically announced as a 3DS focused event.

              1. OMG! I got some money from Acme today. If you want me to pay an artist some fanart for your OC? You better make it quick! I have a PayPal account in case you were wondering how I can pay some artists online.

Bless your angel demon half soul? *hugs*

  1. Not that I expected them to reveal anything about the NX in this Direct, but I think Nintendo needs to hurry up and reveal this thing.
I think the wait is doing more harm than good at this point. Some people are already super hyped, pissed off, or confused in regards to all of the rumours we have been getting as of late.
For the NX’s sake, the device better be similar to the rumours, or a lot of the hype that has been created will need to rebuild itself for the totally new device. That’s jist my opinion on the matter, of course.

    1. The keywords are THIS FALL. The General Manager of Nintendo of Canada have officially confirmed that the unveiling of the Nintendo NX systems will be shown this Fall… this late September. I know it’s JUST your matter of opinion, you’ll just have to accept the fact and must lower your expectations. We’ll have that official confirmation from Nintendo in just a couple of weeks.

      1. No, he didn’t say that. The English press, being retarded as usual, just copy-pasted the first flawed translation they found ad infinitum. The guy actually said that they’d talk about the NX at some point from there (pre-E3) to the end of the year. Check the original story (@La Presse) if you don’t believe me.

      2. NX is a lie.
This insider info was told me by a squirrel living in my apple tree after he had some seriously ripe apples, before vomiting on my balcony and passing out in my dumpster.
After waking up asked me not to share this info due to his NDA, so you know it’s legit.

    2. I does no harm. The mainstream gamers no nothing of NX. They don’t know the code name or anything about it coming March 2017. They have time to reveal the console when they are ready. It is unconventional for Nintendo to wait this long but they know when they will reveal it. They have games and consoles to sell right now and want to make sure people know what they can buy this holiday. This direct is about this holiday and nothing more.

  2. I feel they would probably want to give the media a heads up before they showed off the NX that way hype could be built up appropriately

  3. Galactus The Planet Devourer

    my heart is crushed.
    Why Nintendo?!
….why do you hurt me this may?
I’m afraid to buy a “NEW” 3DS because you don’t support the last new thing you released. The Wii U.
Then I hear rumours you’re making something new and its a hybrid. Why would buy a new 3Ds now when I have an original 3DS? The Super Nintendo VC is tempting but not enough.
Now I’ve been around long enough to know that before you even release a console you drop support a year in advance of the current consoles. Might get a couple drips trickling in but that’s it. Support well is dry.

So when you have zero support on Wii U. A rumored hybrid console coming out. You want a direct for a 3DS? I don’t get it.
    Don’t tell me you’ll still support 3DS because I know you won’t. You can’t.
    Ugh. So upset.

    1. You’ll just have to be more original than that, poser. The problem with you, pretendo, is you always think something negative… especially trusting rumors like Eurogamer and Emily Rogers.

          1. Probally been playing Nintendo games long before you did, more hours aswell.

Do you have any psychological disorders ? I wouldn’t be surprised if you dress like a baby or animal aswell to get turned on, or any other sick fetishes.

Try acting like a normal person for ones so someone might take you serious.

Thanks for your usefull input though……

              ||And I don’t engage in primitive sexual rituals like you do human, you however seem to know quite a lot of these acts you mentioned, how imbecilic irrelevant that topic is to Nintendo and me…||

                  ||You better take that so called advice little one, you’re the one with such irrelevant thoughts…||

                  1. Austin’s father has no idea how hypocritical he sounded. lol It’s brilliant!

And to add to the funny Dutch related stuff:

        1. Says the ass kisser. How the fuck you think Nintendo have disappointing you? You’re just a pretendo and a poser in disguise. A wolf in sheep’s fucking clothing! Nintendo have been keeping secrets of their new generation home and handheld systems, NX, since day one. They have every fucking right to remain silent and prevent it from Sony and Microsoft in stealing their innovations and ideas.

Never go full retard and in full denial about Nintendo’s up and coming systems that we don’t about until the official unveiling this Fall.

          Get N or get out!

            1. Violence solves nothing, Commander. You should try to convince pretendos to join Nintendo again. If they don’t agree, just let them be. Arguing with someone that is clearly not willing to change is not worth the effort.

                ||You can’t convince someone/something to return when they were never with us to begin with…||

                1. Nintendo Sub-Commander Cereza

I hear humans love to recycle. So we must meet the enemy at eye level, and then crush them. Leaving him with their honor, and then using the ashes to fortify the armor of new and deserving troops. Nothing shall be wasted.

        1. Retardation up the ass!

I feel sorry for the parents who gave birth to a gorilla like Galactus?

  4. TGS, people. TGS. (Tokyo Game Show to those wondering) Just keep an ear to the ground. If they aren’t there showing on the floor, there will most likely be a Direct before or during the show about NX. Just be patient.

  5. Not expecting any NX news until the 22nd of September or later. Hell, maybe even E3 2017… no point in getting my hopes up over any of this just to be let down. I’d rather just be pleasantly surprised by whatever happens.

With that said a 3DS Direct is the last thing I’d wanna see lol. I’m obviously very ready for NX but i’d still prefer a Wii U Direct over 3DS, which already has a pretty impressive library of games. But hey, even more for the 3DS gamers to enjoy, especially if they don’t plan on saving up for and jumping to the new console right away next year.

  6. Of course not. It specifically called itself a Nintendo 3DS Direct, not Nintendo Direct. What part of 3DS did some people, I’m assuming there are some since they had to clarify it, not get? That or this is another example of Nintendo treating their customers like idiot children that need things spelled out for them. *shrug*

    1. Lower your expectations, son. Nintendo will announce the official unveiling of the NX this Fall. Over-hyping and then get disappointed on purpose it becomes a double-edged sword. Lower it wisely and you will no longer be disappointed.

      1. Overhyping something could very well lead to disappointment and lowering expectations might seem like the better plan. But I still find that difficult to do with Nintendo. You have no idea how low my expectations are for the NX, but I feel like even then, they will still manage to disappoint me. I don’t want to sound too negative, but for everything good Nintendo does, they do 3 things that upset me. The bad outweighs the good in my opinion, and that has seriously got to stop.

      2. Lowering it is a good idea. Nintendo hasn’t been great for years so having any faith in them giving us something great is just setting ourselves up to disappointment. But it’s so hard because of how great Nintendo use to, and still should, be. *sigh* The 2010s have not been good for Nintendo thus far. Hopefully NX will change that.

        1. If NX fails to impress me, I’m taking a break. And by that, I mean I probably will not buy it. And wait until whatever comes next. I am glad for those that are excited, but I just can’t keep doing this.

          1. All I really want is a universal account system with no more console locked bullshit & hopefully region free. If I can get those, I’ll get NX eventually. If it has those & more awesome stuff, I’ll get it day 1. If not, I’ll just dig out my Wii U, get it fixed, hope they don’t lose my save data, & play the games for Wii U I skipped over the last year: XCX, Fatal Frame 5, Devil’s Third which should be cheap as fuck by that time, & Breath of the Wild when it releases. After that, it’s all PS4 til Nintendo grows a better brain. And maybe 3DS if it’s supported for another 2 years.

            1. Ya I will stilll go back to the 3DS cause it’s a pretty great device. MAYBE I will get another Wii U in the future for the good games I never got to play like Bayonets 2 and Hyrule Warriors. A day one NX purchase from me seems highly unlikely. Not just because I think it would be better to wait, but because I will be very busy next year. I can’t say for sure when I would get it, but if Nintendo does good, they will get my purchase. Eventually…

              1. Or you can just wait for the Wii U exclusives to get NX ports at some point. I think today has shown Nintendo has given up on Wii U & will want their games that didn’t do well on it to sale on a console, or even a handheld, with a better install base.

                1. Hah yeah. Well, either option I choose will have to wait. Games are pretty low on my radar right now. I didn’t even watch E3 and I am pretty clueless as to most of what’s happening right now in the gaming industry. >.<

  7. So with this Direct satisfying the quarterly release pattern we’ve seen since December, one of 3 things can happen:

    1) It somehow still comes out in September, probably on some date the 22nd-24th since that’s when Fall starts. Keep in mind, however, that Nintendo of Canada never actually namechecked Fall. They just said “before the end of the year,” which admittedly is most of the remaining year.
    2) Being a special event, it bypasses the established pattern and comes out anytime before the release of Pokémon Sun/Moon (week before Thanksgiving).
    3) They hold out until December. In this event, they debut the NX at The Game Awards. That is really the only way they can make December work.

Now which of these is the most likely? Well, this Direct being a 3DS-centric one makes two things clear to me: They probably want to wait until all the few major titles they have are released before even starting to talk about NX (Sun/Moon is that game), and they still want to wait as late as they can get away with to minimize the prospect of some other company copying their idea and launching it before Nintendo. That was the case Nintendo made back at E3 to justify not showing it there, and this makes it clear to me that Nintendo is still using this as a justification for not showing NX right now. Of course I and many others would love a late-September reveal, but I feel like Nintendo wants December. Then I consider just how close The Game Awards are to Black Friday (December 1st). My money is currently on a December 1st reveal.

      1. Too, happening during the Fall doesn’t say a lot. Fall is most of the remaining year. Even though NoC didn’t say what people think they did thanks to misleading headlines, Fall does constitute most of Nintendo’s date options going forward.

        1. The problem being that those declarations combined with Eurogamer’s leak make people expect a September reveal when it really doesn’t have any more official weight than a November reveal. Sure, it makes more sense considering all the info we’ve gathered so far, but Nintendo never promised that. It’s good to keep track of what Nintendo has or hasn’t been saying, there are no broken promises here.

          1. My main reasons for suspecting a September reveal were this:

1.) 1/2 a year away from launch seems like an opportune reveal time.
2.) It’s the end of a quarter. Directs since December have followed this pattern.
3.) Though Nintendo will not be at TGS, doing a presentation during one of the 3 full weeks in September would ride a beneficial news wave.

#2, of course, was my primary reasoning for a September reveal (aided by #1), but this 3DS Direct satisfies that pattern and significantly decreases the chances of the reveal happening in September.

            1. I was of the same opinion, then Sony came out with two PS4 announcement, this 3DS direct happened and I remembered November directs used to be a big thing.

We’ve reached a point in which they could reveal it any time from September-November and it wouldn’t make much of a difference. It’s not like they’re missing any major even other than TGS, or as if the NX would be out by Black Friday anyway.

  8. Nintendo shouldn’t wait much longer if they’re launching NX in March. They need time to advertise it and hype it up. Seriously what are they still waiting for?

  9. From http://techno.lapresse.ca/jeux-video/201606/15/01-4991997-e3-nintendo-envers-et-contre-tous.php

     «On se reparlera de la NX d’ici la fin de l’année. À ce moment, ce sera 100 % NX. Là, c’est 100 % Zelda»

This is the last time I’m spoon-feeding you. I don’t care if you can’t read French, it’s not on me to correct your misinformation. If you can type a comment, you can use Google to look up the source and translate the text yourself.

      1. I’m pretty much fed up with the ignorance of both the media and the users that regurgitate false information without checking the source. I mean, nobody is perfect, but if you’re going to go around correcting people, you better be 100% right about what you’re saying.

  10. Galactus The Planet Devourer

You know Nintendo likes to surprise people!
    You know this.
They just might. They just might.

  11. Galactus The Planet Devourer

I love the 3DS. It really is shaping up to be my favorite of all handhelds. Even the GameBoy/color that thing had a gazillion amount of games.
3DS just has some quality classics. I remember playing Link between worlds and thinking Wow when the next handheld comes out they’ll make a top down in HD!
    *cough Bout time!.. But yeah.
    Animal Crossing HD!
    Maybe a 2D Metroid…wait for it… In H mutha fuckin’ D! Yes! Haha

    1. However, Nintendo has been very consistent as far as public statements regarding NX info. When they said they wouldn’t say anything about NX outside of its existence in 2015, they meant it. When they said it wouldn’t be in the March Direct or at E3, it wasn’t there at all. No one should suspect they’d suddenly add NX news to the September 1st Direct given all of that.
