Every Nintendo home console since the GameCube has used disks, but the Switch is breaking that trend. While the cartridges weren’t shown off in the presentation last night, a Twitter user has posted a photo of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild card. Interesting, these cards don’t really resemble the cartridges Nintendo has been using for their handhelds either, the DS and 3DS both sharing a card design. What do think of Nintendo’s decision to return to cartridges? Tell us below.

They’re perfect. Not much to critique, honestly.
Even better are the game cases. Remind me of PSP cases, which are some of my all time favorite game case designs out there.

Looks like they’re easy to lose, but at least it’s better than being easy to break I guess :P I’m only curious about two things though: 1) cost 2) size. It has to be just as affordable as blu-rays and it has to be big enough to fit current gen AAA games easily.
Gold plastics also have a horrible history of becoming brittle and flaking/crumbling.
Maybe the Master version will be a different colour?

I can’t be the only one that notices it has a slight resemblance to SD cards, can I? I might just be grasping but that’s another point towards my speculation the game cards for Switch will allow for direct patching, updates, & DLC straight to the game card itself. If I end up being wrong, oh well.

Well having a disk on TV mode would be fine. Though if it had a disk in it and your on the go the disk would most likely scratch up and get destroyed fast. This is due to spinning objects wanting to spin on the same plane. Overall I think they chose cartridges because it has to be on the go. Also if any readers are reading this comment, the Nintendo Treehouse showed where the micro SD card goes and they had a 256GB micro SD card paired with it.
