An option to choose to pay simply for online play & pay a lower price than what you’d pay for the full service actually sounds like a good idea. Maybe Sony should think about that in the future, too.

Hm? Oh no, its just that I have an xbox but can’t keep up with the price basically…now I can’t, I’m still figuring out how to buy it even with preorders.
It says 40 bucks a year for Xbox Live Gold. I could afford that and I’m on limited income. I wish PS Plus was that cheap a year. Oh well. 60 bucks for 12 months is still pretty cheap. As long as Nintendo Online is 60 bucks or under, I’m good. There is also some places selling the yearly PS Plus & Xbox Live Gold cards for a lot less than it’d cost to pay for them from the PS4 itself. Least that’s what I heard, anyway.
This is surprising to me. I didn’t think Nintendo would take this route. But it’s no different than paying for the other services now. So there’s no need to make a big uproar about it.

Will it be like PS Plus? Where you have an option, pay for perks and discounts, or just pay more full price but still have online capabilities?
I checked out the Great Switch Room at Nintendo’s American Lair on the Internet & it shows one of the features as being discounts for games & a free NES or SNES game to play for that month so I’d say it’s pretty close to being similar to PS Plus. More features will be revealed after launch.

The wording during the event seemed confusing. They were talking about all this online connectivity with smart devices and then said this. Is the smart device stuff what we’ll have to pay for or online play too?

A lot is going to depend on the currently missing details like pricing for me. Seeing as the only game I’ve played online on Nintendo hardware the last couple years is Splatoon it’s kinda a hard sell for me. Most likely I’d just focus on single player games and get my multiplayer action in offline when able and use my PC for online multiplayer games.
From what I’ve seen so far, it’s gonna be pretty similar to PS Plus so you’ll pay for more than just online play.
It better be worth it, like better running servers and virtual consoles titles, because I’m not liking this one bit right now.

This news sucked monkey butts. I’ve never been able to experience true online gaming on Playstation 3 and 4 due to having to pay for Playstation Plus. And now, I’ll never be able to experience online gaming on the Switch either. Oh well. Gamers should NEVER have to pay just to play online. EVER!

You just get added bonuses by doing so and the free games count as a bonus. The games don’t count as purchase, they are just there because you’re subscribed. Because again, you didn’t buy them…

I’m fine with that, actually, since it’s a rental I don’t ever have to return as long as I keep the membership going. Since I’m only paying once a year for it, that makes it all the sweeter!
