  1. NGL, I was envisaging a bunch of elderly people trying to save the world, like plants vs zombies, but pensioners vs pirates or something, and now I feel cheated by my own imagination raising my expectations.

  2. Doesn’t look like anything I would get. Not sure why, but I’ve become very wary of turn-based games in recent years. I think they’re very easy to get wrong. The battle sequences have to be fast enough so as not to feel slow-paced, but can’t be too fast or the gameplay will feel shallow. Pokemon in particular I feel has added bigger and longer battle animations over the years. The combat can feel dreadfully slow.

I’m also not a fan of Roguelikes. I don’t quite get the increase in popularity recently. I mean, I understand the procedural generation and that no two play-throughs are exactly the same, but the gameplay mechanics and objective don’t change. You’re still playing the same game over and over. I’ve heard about people putting 300 hours into the Binding of Isaac. I can put the same amount of time into something like The Elder Scrolls, but at least with TES that time is spent completing new, story-based objectives and advancing a single plot.
