Evo 2017 takes place in July, but Pokken Tournament will not be a part of it. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 won the final slot at this year’s Evo event, courtesy of a 9th game player’s choice charity drive that recently came to a close. Pokken Tournament lost to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 by only $4,000, with the former accumulating $67,000 and the latter obtaining over $71,000. However, there is good news to share. The effort to get the game at this year’s Evo impressed the Evo staff so much that they have announced that they will be committing $10,000 to support tournaments for Pokken Tournament in 2017. Smash Bros. Melee and Smash Bros. Wii U will still be at Evo 2017, as previously announced.
Pokken Tournament Will Not Be At Evo 2017

That sorta sucks, pokken is dope to watch. Hope they come through for it later.
Also no ARMS.
They can’t add a game not released lol
It will be by EVO.
That’s too bad. Hey since we keep getting those characters announcement from Pokken tournament from the arcade, I was thinking the game should get a enhance port on Nintendo Switch.
So MvC3 won the slot the very year Infinite is coming out. Frankly it was silly to think anything else would win that position.
I figured Arms and Pokkén were a reach, but I was hoping Windjammers would make it. Again, though, silly hope.
Even though Angry Joe made a convincing argument as to why UMvC3 pales in comparison to MvC2, I would have to side with the game, since Pokken Tournament has its own share of flaws, such as being too technical in fighting mechanics, especially in a 3D environment. Fighting games should always be in 2D. 8ing (and other developments) can handle a few 2.5 fighting games, but fighting games get the best results with fluid 2D sprite control/movement.
lol, mortal kombat did the worst, shows how highly people think of it as a competitive fighter
If only Bandai Namco haven’t killed the game with the lack of Wii U support….
There’s a lot of Wii U games that deserve a second chance to sell more copies so Switch ports somewhere down the line would be nice if the Switch is a better seller. Pokken Tournament is one of them.
