UK: Nintendo 64 Is 20 Years Old Today

20 years ago today the Nintendo 64 was released to the public in the UK. Although they had to wait months after releasing in other territories, the console got released with a generous software line-up. Super Mario 64, Pilotwings 64 and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

Buying the Nintendo 64 would have set you back £250 but sales totals proved that the then-powerful console was worth the dosh as it sold a respectable 33 million units.

Happy Birthday, Nintendo 64!

  1. My most beloved console. I had it sit one month in my living room before I had the money to buy Super Mario 64. And I stared at it in love foretasting what I would definitely get in the future (Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007, Killer Instinct Gold, Wave Race 64, F-Zero X, Super Smash Bros. didn’t liked Banjo-Kazooie but… well…). Best launch of any console ever because there was the best game ever (and best console ever, it got the best games, not any PlayStation in my opinion…). Will never forget it together with my biggest love ever, the Amiga 500.
I want that experience with the Switch. Well, something like that at least… Zelda and Mario seems ready, let’s see.

    Happy birthday. :)
