As any committed amiibo collectors will know, the Nintendo figurines can sometimes be incredibly difficult (or expensive) to track down. However, some fans have taken matters into their own hands. These custom amiibo cards have been appearing on eBay quite a bit recently, clever fans recently discovering the secret to making their own NFC chips compatible with Nintendo consoles. While it seems likely that Nintendo will hate the idea, some of them actually look pretty cool. Check out a picture below.

Commander..
Kallum..
it’s not late for you, i still offer you my helping hand..
whatever happened to you, only god knows what..
whoever did it to you..
you are not responsible, you still have hope to be a normal person, not the autistic who decides to make a fool of himself every day commanting under the Quadraxis persona, the swedish meatball.
||You are sounding so desperate now Xbot, is it because we are ready to launch another major assault?…||
I have a lot of the physical amiibo’s, but bought majoras mask link, the princess versions, and ganon from etsy in card form.
2 bux each, can’t beat that. Honestly, I would pay full price (retail) for them. But if nintendo is going to choose to have desirable items behind a paywall – and then flood the market with air – the paywall becomes $50.00 for one on amazon.
nintendo has created this blackmarket due to their unwise business choice – and i for one am going to use the crap out of them.
Very similar to the same explosion we saw in Raspberry Pi sales when they created interest in playing the NES, but then didn’t follow up with the supply.
They’ve been getting crazy sales from all sorts of users on ebay from what I’ve seen. I have a couple friends who caved in and bought the previously unannounced zelda anniversary amiibos for their drops.
Considering how convenient it is to carry cards over figures, it’ll be interesting to see how much this expands over time and whether it’ll be treated lightly like the R4 and Action Replays, or if Nintendo will try their hand at implementing some kind of detection software to prevent their use.
They better not fucking DARE! If they really want these amiibo to actually sell, they better actually restock the fucking things because that’s the real reason they aren’t selling. If they do try to put a stop to this & don’t restock the amiibo, they are effectively helping scalpers. And if they effectively help them, I’ll have to assume the worst & believe that Nintendo & the scalpers are working together to rip people off to line both of their pockets. :/
Remember most Amiibo only require reading the chip, not storing data so there’s no issue for detection.
If you’re going to buy these, why not just get an N2 Elite? You’d be taking no more or less money from Nintendo, you’d have the flexibility to use any amiibo you wanted to, and if you wanted to turn around and write them to cards, you’d still be able to do that.
These have been cropping up for a while, are usually poorly presented and a sort of piracy grey area. I’d rather have the figurines
this falls under the same sort of legal category of Platonic using actual N64 cartridges as yooka laylee themed flash drives for backers, yes?
I’ve been seeing these (and similar things) for quite a while on ebay. Came close to buying the Fierce Deity NFC card. But due to thinking that Nintendo might eventually make a real Fierce Deity amiibo, I held off. I still can’t find the Breath Of The Wild Princess Zelda amiibo in stores.
If those FUCKING GIANT DUMBFUCKS AT NINTEND’OH!! *FACEPALM* don’t restock the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo, I’m gonna have to cave in & buy one of these cards from eBay. If you don’t want my money NintenD’OH! then I’ll just give it to someone else. Aka FUCK YOU, ASSHOLES!!!

Nice. I’ll have to look into this once I get into BoTW as I only have about half the Amiibo.

It’s not clever or a secret. It’s easy to copy and rewrite NFC chips. I have a couple for use with my phone years ago.
