Jose Otero will be joining quite a few other former IGN staff members as he leaves IGN and is starting a job at Nintendo of America. Jose Otero was a writer for the Nintendo section of IGN as well as being featured predominately on Nintendo Voice Chat. We would like to wish Jose Otero the best of luck with his new role in Nintendo.
“After four amazing years, Thursday is my last day at @IGN and my last Nintendo Voice Chat. Eternally thankful to @PeerIGN, @Stevebutts & all the talented people here who believed in me. And I’d especially like to thank YOU for all the support you’ve given me during my time at @IGN. As for my future: I got a job with Nintendo, and I’m excited to explore a new career path.”
Jose Otero, best known for adding to the false narrative that Soleil’s storyline was about gay conversion, is going to have a say in our games.
Let that sink in for a second.
…you’re not making me feel any better about this. I already can’t stand most people at IGN. :|
Wait! He supported that bullshit claim!? Ew, ew, ew!
First, IGN loses Rich George (Nintendo’s Public Relations) and Audrey Drake (Nintendo Treehouse member/writer)…and now Jose Otero!!! Imagine seeing him at the next Treehouse Live event. I wish him the very best of luck working at Nintendo of America.
God!… Audrey seems like a robotic witch in every Treehouse, poor kid.
Otero seems fine, has charisma. But i would prefer to have the good Matt Casamassina sharing some love at Nintendo.
Not as robotic as the human emoji machine Winona Ryder.
audrey seems like a shallow OFFENDED oh look at my boobs but dont touch SJW RETARD
I’m sure he’s ecstatic. hopefully, he makes nintendo a bit more competent.
I was never a big fan of Jose, but I suppose he continued the podcast competently.
||What are his credentials both pro/anti Nintendo?…||
He’s pro-censorship.
||I see, sometimes we need it but our HQ in NA territory take it too far…||
He was never anti-Nintendo, Your Grace. Just not enthusiastically Pro-Nintendo. Besides, Nintendo coverage at IGN has been a joke for several years.
That’s why I ended up here! :D
||Good, this base is no place for weak cattle…||
I’ve always found him to be fair on Nintendo Voice Chat. He’s obviously very passionate about Nintendo; he hunted down amiibo to the ends of the earth, he always pleaded with Nintendo over the air to make another Metroid game (2D, 3D or both), but when Nintendo made blatantly anti-consumer decisions, he’d definitely call them out on them. His favorite eras seem to be NES/SNES, but he’s been a loyal fan ever since. Clearly he likes them enough that he’s leaving behind a dream job at IGN to go work for them…
Hopefully he doesn’t do anything to get himself fired. I think there’ve been some cases of him mixing his personal feelings with his work.
I always look forward to NVC every week and hearing Peer, Jose, and Brian all together. Sad to see the trinity broken up, but I’m glad to see he’s following his dream.
These the guys who stole from the chicken boy!!!boo!
I don’t care what company it taking people, I hate the idea that “video game journalist” decide to work for video game companies.
This seems to happen after e3 each time. I wonder if IGN hasnt considered putting clauses in their contracts against game companies hiring their staff away. Or perhaps CA has rules against so-called poaching/non-compete clauses.
As long as he’s kept away from storytelling, I’m good.
