A new update has gone live for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, bringing the Nintendo Switch racing game to version 1.2. Among the notable additions include more amiibo functionality, tweaks to online matches, item regulations and various bug fixes. The complete list of changes in version 1.2 is as follows:
- Players can use Pikmin-themed amiibo to unlock a Pikmin Suit for the Mii driver.
- Race rules and course name are now displayed on loading screens for online and wireless play, as well as Mario Kart TV.
- Players who are behind in online matches will receive items geared toward catching up more frequently.
- In online matches, no more than two Piranha Plants will be granted as items at the same time.
- Controls are no longer unresponsive when the timer runs out when choosing a Mii racing suit for online matches.
- When a player uses an item right after the Super Horn in online matches, that item will now remain available for other players.
- Item wheel no longer spins continuously in online matches.
- Online matches now end as intended 30 seconds after the first place racer finishes.
- The Boomerang now returns to the first slot, if possible, after a player catches it.
- Items shown in a player’s item slots now display correctly when holding an item behind them.
- No longer possible to use an item after it has been used to block an attack.
- Communication errors no longer occur frequently while spectating or after spectating online matches.
Still hoping for some DLC that makes Deluxe truly worth its price- I’m still salty there was no ambassador program for MK8 Wii U owners.
So we have to pay even more than the original price for dlc? How does that increase its worth? If it’s free then yea but payed? Hell no .

I hope for a new switch exclusive Mario kart not a “deluxe” wiiu port that will have you buy dlc that takes away from it being titled “deluxe.
I’d like to see the next MK skip the 9 (because 9 is bad luck in Japan anyways) and make it a successor to Double Dash and just call it Mario Kart: Double Dash Switch. It would be perfect because of all the “Switching” involved!

If you are speaking in terms of free DLC, hell yeah! I’ll gladly buy Mario Kart 8 on my Switch for 60 bucks then. But the DLC has to add at least 50% more to the game before I pay another 60 bucks for roughly the same game.
You have a stronger will than I, then- I caved and got Deluxe the day it came out just cuz I wanted something else to play on my Switch that wasn’t Breath of the Wild or Shovel Knight or FAST RMX lol.
Not that any of those are bad or boring- far from it.
It’s easy since I got my PS4 & my backlog of games on it, so the lack of games that interest me on Switch is no longer an issue.
Where the hell is the survival mode for local battles and any sound options for the whole game?? Obvious stuff completely missed.
Nintendo is mixing the audio / sound effects to their liking. The usually don’t offer any sound option to the user.

If they would have given us audio options for Breath of the Wild, they could have used more field music in the game for those that don’t mind hearing the same 30-second or longer tunes. But if someone plays Zelda & they hate the music tracks, get the hell out of Zelda as music is one of the things that make Zelda so great. I could forgive the lesser dungeons that were the Divine Beasts if there was a lot more varying kinds of field music to listen to while exploring.
All I want for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are Callie and Marie as DLC, along with Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to go along with them.
Do you also want with that King k roll, Naruto, Tracer from overwatch, and Donald Trump as playable characters
Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, & King K. Rool make a lot of sense, though, since Super Mario & Donkey Kong share the same world. Naruto & Trump would make no sense at all & aren’t in the same category as Donkey Kong characters. That’s like putting Ridley into the same category as anime based & non-video game based characters when someone asks for a playable Ridley in Smash: it’s beyond stupid & something only haters of the idea would do.
Shame they can’t release a patch that takes out that annoying coin power up, I can’t see any value into why it’s even there.
I want them to do something about that blue shell. Only the people at the back of the pack can get it, and it doesn’t benefit them whatsoever. It’s like a grudge item.
The more coins you have the faster you go, always try to keep 10 coins on you at all times!
Oh really? I spend so much time getting raped of all my coins by blue shells and such like that I rarely end with 10 unless it’s 50cc mode…

Totally serious! It even says so on the tips and help section on the main menu (of mk8 deluxe).
Usually, if I have the coin and im about to get hit by a shell or blue shell I use it just before it hits me so I only technically lose 1 coin. Small things lol
Free DLC that adds 50% more to the game & I’ll gladly pay another 60 bucks for Mario Kart 8. Otherwise, I’m gonna continue to ignore it.
