The New 3DS is done in Japan. Apparently, production of all colors of the handheld has come to an end. However, New 3DS XL handhelds will still be sold there. As for North America, a Nintendo of America representative has told GamesIndustry that North America will not be impacted by this. Here’s what they had to say:
“This announcement does not affect Nintendo of America territories, as the model in question was only sold in limited quantities as special offerings. There are no changes to the sales status of New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS or the upcoming New Nintendo 2DS XL, which launches on July 28.”
Translation:For now,the 3DS/2DS line in NA won’t be discontinued until we get the sales we need from the 2DS XL
No, what he actually says: We can’t discontinue something that was never being openly sold there in the first place. So nothing will change.

They talking about the regular n3DS, guys, so don’t flip out & go all “Hah! I told ya they’d quit the 3DS & go all in with Switch!”
Most of us saw it from a mile away. It just bugs me that people expect them to drop it in an instant when they don’t realize that doing so would have negative effects. It’s better to slow things down than to kill them.

Well, this is a complete disappointment. No wonder Nintendo is trying there best to keep the 3DS market sales up.
Isn’t this the same thing that Nintendo said about the Wii U when they ended production in Japan, then still cancelled production not too long later?
Feels like it has been honestly. Haven’t seen one in a long time. Just XL.
people want to turn this into the switch over shadowing the 3ds and canceling but instead its just them ironing out old not very well selling systems
