Japanese police have charged the man responsible for sending death threats to Nintendo, resulting in the cancellation of the Nintendo Live Tokyo event earlier this year. According to reports from Japanese newspaper Kyoto Shimbun, the 27-year-old suspect from Ibaraki Prefecture has been charged with the forcible obstruction of business after sending 39 threats through Nintendo’s website inquiry form. The threats, sent between August and November of the previous year, included menacing messages such as “I’m going to make you regret releasing such a crappy game to the world” and “I’m going to kill everyone involved.” One threat directly targeted the Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals, threatening violence against attendees and staff.
Nintendo, upon receiving the threats, prioritized the safety of its customers and staff, leading to the cancellation of both the Splatoon event and Nintendo Live Tokyo. The company stated it had been consistently targeted by threatening behavior, extending beyond its staff to include event attendees.

It’s a completely different matter when someone acts upon these said threats. And what you find is the people that act violently or “kill everyone”, they don’t make threats, they just do it.
You don’t know that; It is a big mistake not to take threats of this kind seriously. Just look at the number of terrorist attacks, thwarted or not, that have taken place or almost took place after the proliferation of threats…

Look, ARMS was a bad game but for crying out loud it wasn’t worth sending out death threats.
ARMS is one of my favorite games for the Switch. Not a bad game at all. It’s great in my opinion. Needed more marketing and after launch support.
The neon yellow joy cons are still my favorite.

Japan is very close to war with China right now and have recruited civilians in record numbers. If you’ve notice the last few years have been real stinkers which ties to the fact Nintendo personal are likely caught up in this as by law in Japan all abled body men have to answer to her majesty when the time comes and all factories will have to be able to supply. Furthermore Fox Con.Inc where Nintendo AND Sony (plus others) get their electronic parts from to assemble at their factories have shut down and left China not doing business with them anymore due to a lot of bad actors involved which I won’t get into on here meaning parts are not being made for the time being.
Sony and Nintendo can’t get parts though Nintendo has horded SOME parts but it won’t be enough for mass production of something like Switch 2/Pro.whatever so they have to be careful of what they do. Plus they spent billions of dollars on their theme park at a time where people are wary to travel for a multiple of reasons. Nintendo is in a tight corner right now for a lot of reasons not their fault and some internal decisions that screwed them.
