Famed video game composer Grant Kirkhope has revealed in a new interview that he knows of three video game studios that have pitched a Banjo-Kazooie game to Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios. He wouldn’t be drawn into naming the studios but he did say that he believes that none of the pitches were successful. However, with a recent official Xbox poll showing a new Banjo-Kazooie game is the most wanted game by Xbox owners it seems likely that some team is currently working on it.
“I do know of like three companies that have actually physically pitches to Microsoft or to Rare about making another Banjo Kazooie game, and I don’t think anyone was successful.”
Uh, and what does that have to do with Nintendo?
More than Scott Pilgrim. As much as I hate Microsoft, Banjo started out on a Nintendo system.
It’s just been 25 years since it left Nintendo’s fold, but other than that…

After seeing what Asha has been doing with Xbox, and revoking those exclusives from everyone, I can’t see a new banjo hitting anything outside of Xbox.
We have to remember that Phil had a vision for Xbox, and that vision isn’t the same as Asha’s.

Like i said, the new spyro is multiplat. If xbox was seriously aiming for exclusives…crash and spyro exclusivity would be a good start dude.
Oh I definitely agree. Some of these games need to stay multiplatform in order to even make a dent in their predicted numbers.
But from what she’s said, the Xbox first party games that currently multiplatform, are only multiplatform because she was obligated to keep them that way for contractual reasons. And it makes sense, since the ones that are releasing sooner are the ones that are still getting PS and Ninty ports.
I hope a new banjo doesn’t get stranded on there, because as much as I side with Xbox, the fanbase just isn’t there for these collectathon platformers. It would only be sent out to die.
Unless of course the people leaving PS over this Physical issue end up going Xbox 🤷 but it doesn’t seem likely.
Also Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie are both playable on Nintendo switch online

I honestly can’t think of any game announcement that would excite me more than a new Banjo game. No new spin on the series, just a straight up Banjo-Threeie. I can keep dreaming I guess. It’s cool to see other devs want to bring them back too.
Yeah, me too. It probably won’t be as groundbreaking as the first two, but it will be a fresh start to tell the story that the original Banjo-Threeie wanted to tell back then. Nuts & Bolts tried, but it didn’t have the direction that people were looking for.
