No Plans To Bring Assassin’s Creed: Origins To Nintendo Switch

After a year’s hiatus, the Assassin’s Creed franchise is back with Assassin’s Creed: Origins. However, it doesn’t look like Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play the game. In an interview with Gamingbolt, Origin’s director explicitly told fans that there are no plans to bring the game to the Switch. Would you like to see Assassin’s Creed return to a Nintendo platform? Tell us below.

“We’re shipping on Xbox One, Xbox One X, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PC,” Ismail told us. “There are no plans to release it on Switch.”

    1. I was about to say the same. Ubisoft brags about how much they support the Nintendo Switch except they don’t! It’s like they have big AAA teams working on big AAA games that won’t come to the Switch and then they have a few apprentices that work on Nintendo hardware to gain practice and learn the basics before moving on to the “real” consoles. It was this way with Wii U and it’s still this way with the Switch.

      1. To be fair, AC is a flagship series that a) typically is pretty cutting edge in terms of graphics, which might be difficult to port to the Switch, and b) has probably not done too well on the WiiU in the past, even if that was partially their own fault. Companies simply and understandably don’t care about the individual players.

  1. It’s pretty hilarious how it’s considered a hiatus for Assassin’s Creed to do one year without a release.

  2. Missing out on a Ubisoft open world cluster fuck? Shame.
I have given the game 3 chances already, and on none of them I have been able to play them through.

      1. Yes, after you’ve done enough busy work on one sector, the game starts to wear on you, and this is coming from someone who can sink hundreds of hours in Warriors type of games.

  3. They still have doubts to repeat the same mistake that they did with the the IV (didn’t sell really well). Don’t complain we have already 4 games from them

  4. Also I already expected that. with the low sales of Assassin Creed IV on Wii U. Ubisoft still scared. Maybe next when we have more than 10 millions units sold

  5. No one should be surprised. This game is clearly too demanding for a handheld. Stop disappointing yourselves.

  6. This was inevitable. They will not bring this AC because too much time to port on the Switch.

But this is not a problem. They said they are going to bring other games for the Switch and I’m really curious to see these games.

By the way I hope to see WD on the Switch.

  7. In the mean time if they knew they were not going to make an AC for the Switch why didnt they make an all new Rayman Legends exclusive to the Switch instead of a Wii U port minus the touch screen features that the Wii U had? That was stupid.

  8. Just once I’d like these third parties to give a straightforward, BELIEVABLE reason as to why they’really not porting to the Switch when it’s still selling out almost half as year after its release. It seems like it’s always just “we don’t want to do it”, “it’s too hard to port to” (which I don’t buy), or some of the better whoppers like “not as many buttons” (which to the developer’s credit, they corrected themselves on).

    1. the switch is not powerful enough for a direct port. lets face it… the hardware is no where close to the xbone and ps4.
sure they can remove a WHOLE load of stuff and make it work on the switch but who will want an incomplete game? Why ask for that?

I’ll rather have ubi make a switch game from scratch, a game that takes full advantage of the switch hardware.

      1. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not implying the Switch can run a straight 1:1 port, but from everything I’ve seen it can probably run some good ports if they knock down some of the shaders, texture resolutions, etc. and let the user decide if they want better graphical fidelity or portability (personally, I’d rather have the latter).

      2. Switch Specs:
        ARM Cortex Octo-Core CPU ( 4 x ARM Cortex-A57, 4 x ARM Cortex-A53) @ 1.020GHZ
4GB LPDDR4 RAM (Xbox One is running 8GB DDR3 RAM, still weaker than PS4 and Switch RAM)
Nvidia GTX Maxwell Generation 2 chip (GTX 900 series) @ 786 MHz *Docked* (384 MHz *Undocked*) with 1.023TFlops

The Nintendo Switch is just as capable of running games that the Xbox One can do with only 1 TFlop.
So I’m sorry to say, the Nintendo Switch isn’t as weak as your wet dreams seems to think it is.
Is it capable of doing Uncharted level of graphics? No.
Is it capable of running games like Assassin’s Creed on Medium settings? Yes.

        1. Ridley X3 {R.I.P. Chester Bennington of Linkin' Park. Thank you for the awesome music. You will be missed. *cries*}

If the game can only run on Switch with medium settings, then the Switch obviously isn’t on the same level as the Xbox One. Do you not see the hypocrisy in your comment about the Switch being on the same level as Xbox One?

      3. @GComics …. how many people will buy the game knowing it’s running at “medium settings”? How many will even look at it when the reviews for the xbone/ps4 are 9 and switch version is a 7?

What stops them from making a game for switch that is running at “ultra settings”? does BOTW look like a game on medium settings? Why should a game have to look like crap to run on the switch?

We say the devs are too lazy to bring games to switch, yet we argue they should just remove some stuff and toss the games in!

I wan’t a quality experience when i’m playing my games or there’s no point!

  9. I think it’s high time people stop asking these questions..

there’s no way that game is going to come to switch! how big is the game? 60gb or something like that. lets not forget all the 15gb day one patch and stuff all these games come with. the switch hardware will not carry a game like AC.

We shouldn’t be asking for ports, we should be asking for original switch games! What can you make from scratch for the switch that will engage the players?

  10. A game like this is pretty hard to port to NS. Now a custom built title like Liberations is one they’ve got no excuse for.

  11. That’s a real shame. However, I have never been able to enjoy an Assasins Creed game, so I am hardly hurt by this. However, this is definitely a blow to the Switch, and Switch owners who enjoy playing Assasins Creed.

I’ll just say this. When the Rainway app comes out, it will be a huge blessing for the Switch. You third parties don’t want your games on the successful Switch? Too bad. We’ll get them anyway

  13. I’ve finally come to the revelation that people care too much about this stuff. I’m just gonna go play my games and have fun instead of over worrying about my investment and ya’ll should do the same.

    Nice knowing you all.

I figured Assassin’s Creed wouldn’t be one of those games Ubisoft would be bringing to Switch. *shrug* No loss for me as I got a PS4 anyway. It’s good to be a multi-console gamer.

  15. If I didn’t have a PS4, I’d be utterly PISSED right now. Ubisoft has no problem releasing their turdirst games on the Switch. But not with their games that can actually be considered games. No way, they won’t do that. It might make the Switch look like a game console. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking THAT.

Though I’m STILL pissed. Because Assassin’s Creed Origins will probably cause me to be forced to delete some game files on my PS4. Because for some reason, my hard drive got filled WAY too fast on my PS4. And I only played a few games on it.

Look for a Toshiba Canvio Desktop 2TB external hard drive on Amazon. They might still have some for around 80-100 bucks. Well worth the price as I got around 60 games on my PS4 & I still have some room left on mine.

  16. Ubisoft likely sees it as not profitable and not worth the time. They’d have to downgrade and change around stuff even further putting in more effort only to end up getting low sales.

They would definitely have to downgrade it. That game looks slightly better than Syndicate & Syndicate is pretty graphic heavy itself.
