Update: Here’s what Bandai Namco had to say about the image of the box-art which showed that an additional download would be required – “Apologies for the confusion, that is not the final box art for the Switch version and it WILL ship on a 16 GB cart, NO additional download will be required. Pre-Order AWAY!”
Bandia Namco announced at E3 2018 that it had remastered the excellent Tales of Vesperia and today the company has revealed Tales of Vesperia: Premium Edition for Europe and the Anniversary Edition for the United States. They are both available to pre-order now at the Bandai Namco Store. You might have noticed that the US edition of the game says in the corner of the cartridge box that it requires an additional download, however the European version doesn’t mention it. Here’s both:
United States:
Europe:
“The Premium Edition box contains: a copy of the game, 4 x CD soundtrack, art book, collectible cards set, pin badge set, Chibi Chara stickers set and a Repede Metal case. Fans of the series can pre-order this limited-edition collectible version of the game from today!
TALES OF VESPERIA: Definitive Edition includes up-scaled screen resolution, characters, events, and costumes that were never released outside of Japan, as well as introducing two new playable party members. Flynn Scifo, the main character’s best friend and rival: Patty Fleur – a young pirate searching for her lost memories.
TALES OF VESPERIA: Definitive Edition uses a specialised iteration of the ‘TALES OF’ series’ Linear Motion Battle System for combat. Players control a single party member in real-time combat while other party members are controlled by a customised set of A.I. commands. Players can swap between any of the four characters at any time during battles and can perform physical attacks, magic artes or even powerful mystic assrtes.”

I don’t care so much about the extra download but I can’t stand that ugly white box. I wish they would just put that on the shrink-wrap rather than the sleeve
Or the back, or even at least a discrete icon in the corner somewhere
If this is true, then it’s a f***ing joke. The limitation and expense of the Switch cartridges appears to have struck again. Pathetic!
They confirmed on twitter no additional download is required

An additional download, huh? I think I might need to just start going digital for Switch games.
No additional download required

Thanks for clearing that up!
I’m fine with the additional download, but I wish the U.S version came with the collectible cards and the soundtrack.
“Might require additional download”? Goddamnit if that’s the case I’ll have to go with the PS4 version.
whoops nevermind! they confirmed the EU version will be completely physical, NICE!
Is this a joke? How come the Europe version gets so much more stuff than the US version. They get a soundtrack even?! Their artbook even looks like an actual book while the US version looks like some cheap paper insert. This is so lame. Not going to bother paying the extra money for this.
And it’s sold out
Tales of Symphonia was so dope…
ToS is my favorite tales game, but I can wholeheartedly admit that Tales of Vesperia is better in every way possible.
It’s aged very poorly IMO.
Used to be good.
