GameStop Germany Lists Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Nintendo Switch With 16th August Release

Spyro Reignited Trilogy was one game which Nintendo Switch owners hoped would grace the platform, but until now we haven’t heard any mention of it. GameStop Germany is now listing the classic platformer for the Nintendo Switch and says that it is due to be released on the 16th of August. It seems likely that it will eventually come to the platform, as we previously received Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. We shall just have to wait and see with this one.

Thanks to darthwesker10 for the news tip!

  1. Switch is the perfect market for a game like this. I was a Nintendo fan in the 90’s and didn’t own a Playstation. I would jealously watch commercials on TV for Spyro, and later Ratchet and Clank, angry that I couldn’t play the game with the dragon in it. Now that I’m an adult, I know that I actually had the better console for cartoony platformers, but it’s still cool to be able to finally play the games I wanted way back when.

Spyro’s made by Insomniac… does this mean we could eventually get Ratchet and Clank games on Switch, too? I think Sony might have the rights to R&C and not to Spyro, because I haven’t seen R&C on non-Sony consoles before, while there are a number of Spyro games on other consoles… but it would be nice!

Down the line, I hope exclusives become a thing of the past. They hurt gamers. I think that any game should be made to work on any box (in the future, I know the way they’re currently made makes that impossible). If developers want special hardware for their games, they can make that work in the form of peripherals, sold separately from the boxes themselves.

    1. I think we had similar experiences growing up – I was always Nintendo (& Sega) so I never played Spyro or Ratchet & Clank that much. Would be cool to see them come to the Switch!

    1. I don’t think so…
A retailer revealed a release date for a certain “Maker” sequel for the switch that highly benifits from the online function.

  2. Apparently Spyro Trilogy was delayed since it needs the 64gb card. The original plan was to release the bigger card last year but it was postponed to 2019. There’s rumors that GTA V would have come earlier to Switch if not because of this issue.
