Monolith Soft Hiring For The Next Legend Of Zelda Game

Monolith Soft has announced that they are currently hiring development staff for the next entry in the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda series. One would assume that the next mainline entry in the Zelda series is for the Nintendo Switch platform. However, we have no idea which year the developers are targeting for release. Monolith Soft is looking for the following candidates: Technical Artists, Programmers, Planners, Designers, and a Project Manager. The company is looking for them to create “new surprises and emotions” and as Gematsu reports, Monolith Soft assisted with topographical level design on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

  1. Pretty common for Monolith Soft to assist with the world design of 3D Zelda, especially later into development (not as much the conceptual planning). Seems like they are doing this on a greater scale though. Either way, good news.

    1. I don’t think there has ever been a bad Zelda game minus the CD-i releases we shan’t ever mention.
Breath of the Wild was a pure joy to play. Monolith worked on that as well, so I’m sure this will be as good if not better.

      1. There might have not been a bad one, but there have been ups and downs.

    2. I’m not sure a game can get better than Breath of the Wild. But as Nintendo always surprises me, we’ll just have to wait and see!

  2. I can’t wait to see what kind of game this will be. I hope Monolith Soft will be able to incorporate some of its storytelling elements into this title. Maybe we can see something like Breath of the Wild with a massive story like Xenoblade Chronicles.

    1. I agree. I hated Breath of the Wild’s story but love the stories in all the Xenoblade games, so maybe Monolith should handle the script writing.

  3. Awesome! I can’t wait to see what they are doing.
One day I’ll send my portfolio to Nintendo, one day hehe.

  4. I’d love to see what Monolith Soft would do if they were given full control over the development of a main Legend of Zelda title with NO interference from Nintendo execs. Hopefully this is that game.

    1. No…. absolutely not. Zelda IS Nintendo. You got BOTW out of the last one. Quite literally a masterpiece of our generation, why mess with that?

      1. Because Breath of the Wild wasn’t a masterpiece as it still has it’s many flaws. (Now the Mona Lisa is a damn masterpiece!) That & Monolith Soft does great stories & makes great worlds to explore. And last but not least, Monolith Soft IS Nintendo as they are a first party development team under the Nintendo umbrella. Monolith Soft being given the reigns of a Zelda game wouldn’t stop it from being a Nintendo game.
