Video: XIII Remake Coming To Nintendo Switch

Microids and developer PlayMagic have confirmed that they are recreating the 2003 game XIII for the Nintendo Switch system. XIII will be published and available on 13th November, so just in time for the all-important Christmas shopping season and will be available both digitally and physically. Here are the details:

Play as “Thirteen,” a talented soldier who lost his memory and has been accused of killing the President of the United States. You wake up injured and amnesic on Brighton Beach with the only clue being a small key and a mysterious tattoo “XIII” next to your clavicle. It’s now your job to search for answers in the 34 levels of the solo campaign. Don’t worry, you will find the appropriate weapon arsenal along the way.

“We aim to craft the finest adventure for players and XIII is definitely in line with our publishing strategy. Revisiting this game came naturally as we felt this unique kind of story driven FPS experience was missing in today’s gaming landscape. Our goal is to bring XIII’s compelling story to a new generation of players with the best possible graphics and animations.”

Microids head of production Francois Coulon

“The PlayMagic team is very excited for the opportunity to remake a true classic; modernizing the graphics, sound and animations while remaining faithful to the original XIII‘s incredible look and feel. XIII‘s gameplay mechanics are being reworked in an effort to modernize the experience in a way that encompasses the original spirit of the game. We are sure that the fans of the original game will love rediscovering one of their all time favorites while new players discover a truly iconic masterpiece in a new light.”

PlayMagic CEO and creative director Giuseppe Crugliano

  1. Tight, though the original came out in 2003. 2013 stuck out to me, I remember renting that back in high school.

  2. Oh my god, I loved this game.
Il be getting this day 1.
Very cool FPS game back then.
    16yrs ago. Crikey

  3. I never got the chance to play this game when it originally came out so naturally I will be buying the Switch version and if I can find a copy for the GameCube I will buy that as well.

  4. Dude this game is so badass.

I am actually really excited for anyone that’s going to snag this game, the multiplayer fps action was nuts, especially the game mode where the other players get smaller when you shoot them, made for some interesting shoot outs!
